Jennifer sat desolately on her raft. It had been exiting for the first few days, but the long hot days and cold nights were getting monotonous. She was as tired as the living dead and thirstier than a fish out of water. She hoped that she would sight land or another ship soon.

Ella smiled. She whispered a small thank you and sat up.

"No sight of anything." James called back to Liza.

A barrel-chested man with thick arms came down the stairs to the Belowdeck and grabbed the back of Milo's chair. He wasn't really paying attention- he was thinking of his wife, his son and daughter- and so he didn't notice the small girl who was standing in the shadows. He hefted the chair (along with the tied boy) over one shoulder and climbed the stairs again, taking the seat into a cell across from the other prisoners. This one was enclosed by a thick curtain, and the trapdoor to the Belowdeck came up just inside. The guard set the chair down and left, making sure the curtain was tightly closed so the pirate girl wouldn't know he was there.

Rupert looked at Ella. "Your boy will be fine." he said with a reasurring smile.

Liza looked up at James. She couldn't stop thinking about the kiss.

Rose watched the man take Milo away. She snuck back to Ella's cell.

"I hope so." Ella said, more willing to talk now. She looked at Rose and smiled.

James smiled at Liza. "Distracted?" He called to her.

John saw Rose come back. He winked at her then went ot Milo's cell. There was no guard so he opened the curtain a little, pearing through at the boy.

There was a rattle of keys at the door, and from the other side one could hear a quiet cursing.

Rose smiled back at Ella. "Hi Rupert!" she said to the guard.

Rupert looked up at Rose. "Nice to see you again little one. So you look more willing to talk." Rupert said to Ella.
