Google it! There are lots of reasons cats are good choices for pets - but remember not to get a stuck-up bratty, pampered one like my Honey or your parents will regret their decision. So always choose pound over store, as it is cheaper and helps the pound as well as the cat. Remember this is also true because the cat will be grateful to you for finally taking him/her home, because if you adopt one from someone else like I did, the change will (seem from the cat's perspective) like it's a change for the worse, not for the better.

Depends on why your parents don't want a cat.

I'm pretty much at a loss of what to do.

Basically, all my little kitten eats, is the gravy/jelly off of his meat, or whole unchewed pieces of dry food. That can't be good for him at all, but no matter what food we buy for him, what flavor, what taste, no matter how expensive and how much % of the food is actual animal products, he never eats more than a couple bites of it.

He's not lacking energy. He's growing a lot and very quickly (he's around 6 months now, when I found him, he was around 2). He used to like pate food as a babby, but ever since he started eating dry food, he's been pretty much uninterested in meat (aside from the gravy/jelly it comes in). And I mean, eating dry food wouldn't worry me at all if he actually chewed it. He threw up once, and some of the pieces came out, and they were entirely whole. When I told my vet about that, he said not to worry, or as he put it "not all humans like soup, doesn't mean there's anything wrong with them" and I get that but
idk??
I just cant imagine that being good for him at all.

Some animals will eat their food whole, and there's not really anything that can be done about that. It'll still be digested the same, so I wouldn't worry you self too much. c:

Do you know if they have been neutered/spayed/whatever?
You should find out if your pound does a "spay and release" sort of thing, to make sure that the cats don't keep making even more babies.

any suggestions or tips on convincing parents??

Well first off , ask your parents to get the cat on a holiday : Birthday , New Year , Christmas etc. . If your parents still say no try to do even better at grades . Most likely (If your a girl) you can convince your mother first , if you don't really have good relation ship with your mother , try to talk to your dad . If your parents say no because it's a big animal (This most likely wont happen) try to tell them that you will take any consiqenses (Sorry for my grammar) , give food to the cat , groom tc .Of course that's not how I got my cat BUT this will work :3 (Maybe....Tell me if this helped !)

Firstly... research!
A common mistake people make is not doing enough research, and when this happens, accidents occur. Look into rescue centres, at different breeds and at how to keep cats happy and healthy. Once you know this, and are 110% sure that you're ready, then you can try to persuade/convince your parents.

Some ways to do this:
- Show them your research.
- Show them how responsible you are by doing different jobs/chores.

Show them your research:
Put together all of the information you found, either into a Word Document or a Powerpoint slide. Make sure it's clear and easy to read, and explains everything. You could give them links to local rescue centre websites, photos of cats, information on different breeds, feed/nutrition, health care, grooming etc.

Jobs/chores:
This really works (I managed to get two guinea pigs by showing how responsible I was, but it does depend on your parents, of course). Try helping around the house. Washing dishes, tidying your room or looking after your other animals is a great way to show how responsible you are. If you are old enough, you could try getting a "job" such as dog walking or pet sitting.

It depends on whatever works for you and your parents.
I would definitely recommend getting a cat from your local rescue centre. You are giving them a new, safe life and that would feel really good, wouldn't it?

Remember to make sure that you are 110% ready for a cat and do your research!
Good luck xx

you both have good ideas.
heres a few problems.

1. my parents think I can't take care of animals because I mistreated mice when I WAS EIGHT!
2. my parents think we have too many pets already (we have a dog (family pet, 3 chickens (family pets) , and 2 budgies ( their my mom's))
3. they think I keep jumping from one idea to the next. last year I wanted rats but they said no. I only change my opinions beacuse I'm trying to find a pet their okay with
4. I'm not comfortable doing a powerpoint as my dad's so freaky
