For some reason I think that either this or the 'jackal dog' will be sketchi's. I haven't really gotten to know sketchi's style but judging on last years staff pet I think it will be one of the two.

I think the Anime/School Girl pup is just generic Magical Girl theme, not Sailor Moon or Cardcaptor Sakura really. If it was based on one of those two I think it would resemble them more closely, personally? o: Could be wrong though! I'm guessing it's Vampiric's though! My reasoning being...



Her pups often - not always, but often - have clothes or outfits and facial edits. Hair sometimes too, all traits this year's pup has. Plus I think Vampiric likes - or is at least somewhat influenced by - anime and manga, just based on her usual art style. c: I could be long, but out of all of my hunches THIS is the one I'm most sure of!

EDIT: plus, the spots/freckles on the orange and blue dog and the school girl dog from this year are pretty similar I think!

Also the ears on these two^ are flopped the same way as the flopped ears on the magical girl anime pup...

These are the Mythologies that People have guessed to be what Pluma's pet is based on - Pluma's post was made before today's growths which could indicate their pup grew before today. None of these Guesses were confirmed, meaning we got something wrong, be it the Pup, the Incorrect God/Goddess, the incorrect meaning of the Items or all of the above.

To me, this pup screams Hades. Using your lost items, I think we can piece together the story of Hades, Persephone, and Demeter...

This dog, though not exactly a look-alike, could be interpreted as Cerberus, the Hound of Hades who guards the entrance to the Underworld.

Persephone is the daughter of Demeter, the goddess of the harvest, which usually happened in the fall. Could also have some relation to the fact that Demeter refused to let anything grow when she realized Persephone was missing (Fall leaves are dying leaves...) and/or that fall/winter was when Persephone was in the Underworld with Hades.

Lightning bolts are heavily associated with Zeus, who uses them as weapons. Zeus also happens to be Persephone's father and he also happens to be the one who allowed his brother Hades, who was in love with Persephone, to steal her away to the Underworld.

These are hard to see, but I believe they're broken hearts?? Could easily be attributed to either Demeter's brokenheartedness over losing her daughter, which led her to neglect her duties. editting to add that these could also be seen as seeds, i.e. the pomegranate seeds Hades gave Persephone to ensure that she would have to live in Hades for part of the year.

It was the Sun god Helios who finally revealed to Demeter who had taken Persephone and where she was. Could also refer to the fact that summer/spring, typically attributed with sunny weather, are the months where Persephone is with her mother Demeter.

...which is a peacock that I saw named Ceres (Roman counterpart to Demeter) in another post (No idea if that's true or if that was speculation- I wasn't around in 2013). Both Demeter (/Ceres I guess?) and Hades love Persephone and want to be with her, hence the commonality she mentioned. Feel free to correct me on that one I could be wrong!

Peacocks are also attributed to Hera, Zeus's wife. The same mythology/family could also be the commonality referred to.

Hmm, could be. However, I'm afraid my requirement this year is the same as last year: I will only claim or deny a theory if you can explain to me exactly how all of my hints fit in. So, I have no comment right now, sorry! All the hints I have planned have been given by now, though, so theoretically someone could very well get me to confess this early! Not everything has made it to the hint chart, though, nor has the little quest I set for you a few days ago been completed yet; even though you have all the clues you need to move on, you seem to have gotten a little stuck along the way ...

Was probably my post; If you look in Pluma's group 'My Precious Darlings' You can find their previous Staff pets, and that is the name given to their Peacock from 2013, which is the one I pointed out specifically since we know that pet has something in common with this years :]
Their Other Staff Pets in there are named Ciervos (2012), Floogle (2014) and Opal (2015)
