Spiritstar gazed down into the eyes of all those watching her.
"As you all know, the past to moons have been rough on the clan. We've had so many unmentored apprentices, due to all the attacks on the camp. But finally, I've taken it upon myself to assign these strong young cats the mentors they so deserve. Forgive me for the time it has taken." She nodded to each apprentice.
"Owlpaw, your mentor will be Emberstrike. She is a strong warrior, and I strongly believe in her ability to help you achieve your ambitions.
"Oakfrost, you'll mentor Gingerpaw. You are a very optimistic cat, and it will require plenty of patience to train our energetic little troublemaker." Spiritstar's eyes sparkled.
"Maplepaw, you will be apprenticed to Snowlily. Do try to open up to her.
"Maskpaw, your mentor is Stormgaze.
There are more cats who are in need of mentoring, and I will assign them in the morrow."
Spiritstar took a deep breath, knowing her decision would most certainly be argued against.
"I have made the decision to welcome a loner into our clan. His name is Cinna, and I have decided to mentor him myself. It is up to him to choose him apprentice name." She dipped her head, briefly touching noses with her new apprentice.
"If anyone has any questions, I will be in my den." Steeling herself, Spiritstar leapt off her perch, waiting for the overflow of rejections.

Applefrost narrowed her eyes at Cinna and turned away, padding back into the nursery. She had to protect the kits.

Nettlepool looked confused, but said nothing. He padded towards the nursery to check on the grey kitten that had been found.

Brackentail stood up, stalking past Cinna, tail lashing. He entered Spiritstar's den. 'Spiritstar!'

Bramblefur nodded briefly at Cinna, not minding him being there.
