Soaringbird watched Vixenpaw bounce away from her and Rustpaw. Once she couldn't see Vixenpaw's red pelt anymore, she turned to Rustpaw. "Find what you can then come back here." The white warrior ordered before hurrying off as well to find something else to bring back to camp.

Rustpaw didn't waste anytime and hurried off in a different direction than both Vixenpaw and Soaringbird.

Soaringbird stalked a snow hare through the undergrowth. Snow hares didn't come here that often, but whenever they did, Soaringbird made sure she did her best to catch one. The snow white she-cat fared better than most of her clanmates during leaf-bare, since her pelt blended in so well with their surroundings during that time.

The long-limbed she-cat darted forward after the snow hare when it realized she was there. The hare didn't go far though before Soaringbird's nimble paws came down on it's back, pinning it down long enough for her to deliver the killing bite.

Her ears twitched when she heard twigs snapping further in the trees. She squinted her eyes, trying to see who it was, only relaxing when she recognized Rustpaw's ginger pelt.

"Errg..." groaned Embersky. "Huh?" Snow was falling. The sky was clouded, but from her sleepy guess, it was probably around Sunhigh. "O-oh..." Mewed Embersky sleepily. "Cricketpaw!" She bounced up instantly, ready to jump into training her first apprentice. She was a bad example, sleeping so late! "Cricketpaw!" She mewed loudly. I'd better visit the apprentice's den. she thought. Cricketpaw seemed to be still asleep. Sighing, she waited in the entrance to the apprentice's den and watched as the mist from her mouth flew away, disappearing, and the snowflakes flecked silently to the ground.

Rustpaw's ears perked up when he heard Vixenpaw's shout. He looked up, amusement glittering in his warm amber eyes when he saw Vixenpaw chasing after a vole. "Need any help?!" He called after her.


Cricketpaw's eyes flickered open and she raised her head, her tail swishing in the moss as she scented the air so see who had been looking for her. The black and white apprentice immediately shot up in her nest, her eyes glittering excitedly when she recognized Embersky's scent.

The long-legged she-cat hurtled out of the apprentices den, nearly barreling into Embersky. "Where are we going?!"

"Hmm.." meowed Embersky. "I'm guessing the other apprentices are out for training already." Said Embersky, not seeing them in camp anywhere as she glanced around quickly. "Nope." She said. "Alright, so let's go on out, I guess!" She said. I'm the worst mentor in the world... she thought, dejected at the thought she probably can't even care for a kit correctly. Perhaps I'll learn. she hoped to herself. What if Cricketpaw was ruined forever? And because of her? She dreaded the thought as she smiled and lead the way out of camp.

Rustpaw's whiskers twitched in amusement. He flicked Vixenpaw's flank with his tail. "Soaringbird is back here. Tell her I'll be right back, I still have to catch something." He mewed, pointing towards where the pure white warrior was before disappearing into the undergrowth.


Cricketpaw ran ahead of Embersky, her tail sticking straight up as she did so. Her black and white pelt still had the downy look that most kits had. "Where are we going to train?!" Cricketpaw called back, trying to remember where the training place was on their territory.

Soaringbird looked up, her whiskers twitching in amusement when she saw Vixenpaw fall onto her side in the snow. The warrior picked up her snow hare and trudged through the snow to join Vixenpaw. "You alright?" She mewed, her eyes glittering slightly as she dropped her catch.
