[LOC Tryout Story]
[Seidner's scars come from two separate events]
It was your average, boring night for most of the guards at the prison planet. Not much happened, prisoners were mostly broken after years of isolation and constant watch, so generally there wasn't too much for the guards to do on a day to day basis. Being on the job for about three years now, Seidner had gotten to know many of his guard buddies very well, and to pass the time of another dull and dreary night on the job they were telling horror stories. "So," a peppy tan lioness spoke as her turn came around. "it was a dark and dreary night..." Groans erupted from the other guards at the classically boring opening line. She rolled her eyes and continued. "When a loud noise startled a mated pair sleeping in their den. They all shrugged off the noise and fell back asleep. A few moments later, another loud noise erupted from outside the den, even closer then before. This finally awoke the strong warrior male, who stepped outside to investigate. A few seconds passed and a loud thumping could be heard coming towards the den. A lioness arose, and looked above to see a huge, pitch black, eyeless male lion standing over her. All that is known of their whereabouts is two small teeth left in their resting places." Many of the lions chuckled, one or two looked a tad bit frightened, but for the most part they were ready to move on with the next story. A cold chill ran past the group as they sat in silence. "It would be more horrifying if the eyeless one was a silent killer. Hear nothing, see nothing, and then they vanish." Seidner broke the silence with a scoff. "Something loud is at least identifiable." Some of the others looked at him skeptically, as it was very much like Seidner to say criticisms like that, but the frightened ones seemed to have pepped up slightly at the comment.
"EMERGENCY."
An intimidating lioness ran up to the group of story-telling lions, with a stern expression. "Hyperion has escaped. We just now noticed, go out there now. Get him. NOW." By the end of her explanation it was practically a scream at the group. Jumping to their paws, they looked around at each other cautiously. "He's already left the prison. Get out there." This made Seidner grumble, as the outside was unpleasant and barren. None the less, the various guards paraded out with the lead lioness. As they exited the prison, they were met with a disturbing sight. Blood, ice, metals, earth, all of it was spread out on the vast plain for all of them to see. And standing in their wake was a pitch black lion with piercing yellow eyes and large, black wings. Seidner stood in fear for a moment as his allies ran past him fearlessly to take on the escapee. This was the first time Seidner had seen such a massacre. His eyes took in the battered lions and lioness that were bleeding out on the barren landscape, the armor they were wearing shredded. He could smell the burnt fur and the suffering in the air was almost palpable. Some had been friends, some he didn't know, some enemies, but he couldn't stand the sight of it. Eventually, his eyes focused in on the prisoner, no, the murderer. His allies were throwing everything they could at him, but he would disappear and reappear in the blink of an eye. Throats were torn, sides impaled, fire burning away at them. Slowly, he mustered the will to run. He ran as fast as he could, ripping at his own armor and shaping it into daggers as he did so. He was stepping in puddles, and over fur, and when he looked down all he saw was red. He could see the lioness who told the story earlier go down, but he couldn't even see what did it. She probably didn't know what happened either. As he approached, he saw a flash of black and thrusted the daggers towards the enemy. All he saw next was a black face and yellow eyes staring right at him, and all he felt was the blood running down his neck. He looked down and saw a tail piercing deep into his skin, and as he looked back up at his opponent he thought only one thing, 'I will not die here.' He could see marks of blood on the other lion, and that was when he knew that the other lion was a monster, but not unkillable. 'I will not die here.' He repeated in his head, looking at the other lion defiantly until he could no longer see anymore. He could sense he was falling, but felt nothing as his body touched the harsh ground.
Weeks had passed. When Seidner opened his eyes, all he could feel was pain. His neck was burning, he couldn't breathe, he couldn't see, everything was black. He began to breath heavily and snarl, snapping his teeth in rage. He felt a touch, a gentle, almost motherly touch. It was a nuzzle against his head, that caused him to close his mouth and retract his noises. 'All is well.' A voice said, but there was no voice. He just felt, he didn't hear, it just was. All was well..
Later he was informed by his savior, Panacea, [telepathically of course] that he was the sole survivor of Hyperions massacre. His throat had been decimated, yet somehow by the time the healers arrived and found him he was still able to be saved. He was told they worked on him for hours, trying to stabilize him. He had been asleep for weeks with no sign of life expect for shallow breaths, yet he pulled through despite the odds. Every lion said he was lucky to be alive. Lucky, maybe, but now he was left with a gruesome scar that would likely always pain him either physically or emotionally.
