"Patric." Ella said. "He was the one you got in a fight with." She said. She kept pacing. "Alexa also locked him in my cabin with me."

Milo had stood and leaned in so he could hear Ella better, but now he sank down, not even bothering to sit on the bench. "I killed... Patric? I-" he put his head in his hands, not crying, just breathing hard with shock. "Ella, what have I done? The navy's turned me into some kind of monster."

"It's not your fault." Ella said, going towards him, but stopping when she remembered she was in the cell. She wished she could hold him, tell him verything was fine. "I wish it was me though, he didnt deserve it." She said. "He was so sweet." She said. She sank to her knees and looked at him. She wished she could get out of the cell and hold him for all eternity.

"No, Ella, it is, don't you see? Everything is my fault. Everything from leaving to shooting Patric." He looked up at Ella, his eyes filled with terror. It wasn't fear for himself; it was fear of what he had become, terror that he might kill Ella as he had killed Patric. "I-" for a long while there was nothing he could say, then a bit of deeper meaning came to him. "Ella, after I left, were you and Patric...?" If they had become a bit of a couple, he couldn't blame them, Not after he had left like he did.

"No." Ella said. They had only kissed once, if you didnt count the kiss when he was about to die. They werent really a couple, just really close friends. "You're not a monster." She said. She reached her hand through the bar, waiting for him to take it.

Milo took Ella's hand with a sad smile, gripping it tightly in his. I wish I never had to let go. "Ella, I'm sorry. I was just trying to help you, and now I've cause nothing but pain." He stood, still holding the girl's hand, and said, "I promise, I'll do everything I can to get you back aboard the Maiden."

"I'll help." Ella said, standing too. "You havent caused all pain." She assured him. "After all, there cant be pain without love."

Milo smiled grimly, then stood. "Like I said," he told Ella, "I'll do everything I can to help you get out of here. I don't think I could live any more if I saw you hanging from Palace Cliffs with a noose about your neck."

"Oh trust me, I won't go down without a fight." Ella said. "And I know how know how to keep it from snapping your neck, or suffocate you." she said. She laid on the floor and stared at the ceiling. "Even if I do die, I'll still be alive in your heart." she whispered.
