Ghost yawned sleepily and huffed with irritation. What was that horrible racket? She had been sleeping peacefully before the wavering sound of a weak howl attacked her ears. Determined to rid herself of the noise she stood up, stretched, then wandered out of her den. The air was crisp and delightfully full of smells as it always seemed to be when first leaving the stuffy den. But there was a different smell, it wasnt familiar at all. Ghost frowned and flicked her ears toward the sound curiously, maybe the sound and the smell were connected. Maybe it was a rabbit? But no, the thing was definitly howling and had the slight scent of a wolf, if not a weak one. Then the sound stopped. Sweet relief.
Ghost looked toward the mysterious scent and noticed something lying on the ground. If she hadnt heard the noise earlier and come upon its scent she might not have seen it. She walked over to the little creature and, seeing it was a pup, paused in front of it. She was not a dam, nor ever had been. What if she hurt the fragile looking thing? She cautiously stood beside the pup and nudged it gently with her muzzle.

Nix awoke with a start. He lay on his back, staring at the roof of his den and bursting with unused energy. It was a new day, time for more exploration and running, hopefully after prey but running in circles would suffice if it came down to it. He flipped himself onto his belly and jumped to his feet with such speed that whatever drowsiness he had felt vanished and was replaced with an overwhelming sense of light-headedness. Nix planted his feet so he wouldnt fall back down and shook the feeling off, a huge toothy grin plastered on his face.
He shot from his den like a rabbit running at full speed, forgetting, like he had done every morning, that a tree was only a couple of metres from the entrance to his den. He ran into it head on and hit it with a satisfying thud. Nix crumpled to the ground below the tree and looked up, inspecting the dent he had created from days of battering, a gleeful look spread across his features.

Kesi
He didn't respond much at first, but after a few minutes he started giving out another pathetic howling sound, and he gave the fae a look that said clearly 'pity me'. Kesi stood up slowly; he was still hungry. His steps were wobbly as he approached the fae. After looking closely, he was dissapointed finding this most certainly was not his mother. The pup sniffed the fae; although he didn't know why, the only scent he knew was his parents. Kesi tripped over and other rock and bumped Ghost's leg. He started nudging Ghost's leg in a playful sort of way, forgetting that he was looking for his parents.

The male's pale green eyes opened up into slits, waking up. A faint light the same hue as his eyes illuminated the dark cave walls around him. Kodix's eyes skirting over towards the cave entrance, the blinding light of the sun glared in his eyes, earning a displeased growl from the male. Too bright. Parting his jaws in a gaping yawn, his pointed teeth gleamed in the morning light. A good day for hunting, the Alpha Male decided. His dark grey pelt emerging from the cave, he walked with pride. His expression remained aloof and serious as usual. As the leader of Odious and the son of Keyon, he had a reputation to live up to. He had to be strong, powerful and dominant and carry on his father's legacy. Those words had been ingrained in his mind since he was a pup, scampering out of the Dam's Den. Of course, he didn't mind, it was always how he'd been - or rather raised to be. His mind wandered, stalking around camp. Halting in his tracks suddenly, he snapped back into reality, scanning camp. Some might say he was unpredictable, and he was. He often let his mind wander about, stressing about pack duties. His packmates should be up and about it soon.. He hoped. A displeased frown spread across the male's face as he flexed his dull claws impatiently. Lifting his muzzle, he breathed in the cool, crisp morning air. The pine trees surrounding camp lingered about the scent, so did his packmates.. But something unsettled the male. The scent of another wolf lingered about, and it was fresh too. A weak howl broke the thin veil of silence, stirring one of his packmembers, Ghost. His quiet gaze watched as the female went about to explore the sound. His ears flicking satisfied, he crossed the problem off his list. He had enough to stress about anyways, and he wanted to relax for a change. Making his way towards a shady patch, the male sprawled on the ground, his front paws tucked neatly underneath his chest. His tail curled beside him, he enjoyed the early morning.

Bright light flooded in her eyes as the morning sunshine streamed through her den. Drowsiness kept her laying on the ground, as the light grey and white female rolled over. After a few more heartbeats of rest, a soft groan escaped the female's maw as she heaved herself to her paws slowly. Her eyes rapidly adjusting to the light, she padded out of the empty Alpha's Den, quickly scanning camp. The Alpha Female's dark brown eyes met her packmates actively wandering about. Perhaps she'd slept in a bit too much. Sleepiness tugged at her, as she gave herself a quick shake, all bits of tiredness before vanished. Earning a amused expression from the female, she briskly padded over to the fresh kill pile, selecting a moderate sized rabbit to eat. Noticing that it was growing low, Sorita made a mental note to restock it. She would have to send out a hunting patrol today. Picking up the creature gingerly between her jaws, she wandered over towards the cool shade of a tree to sit. Her mind whirled, thinking about her plans for the day. Though perhaps being Alpha Female was tiring, she thought of it as a challenge and accepted it. It kept her energize and ready for another day. A smile playing at her mouth, the female settled down. As Sorita shifted her weight to get more comfortable, she sank her teeth into the rabbit, the savoring the juices pleasuring her mouth. Lifting her head as she ate, she quietly watched camp. Nothing un-ordinary, She thought. A faint howl broke through the air as her ears perked. It seemed distant. None of her concern, it wasn't worth trekking close to Odious territory to explore a sound, especially when Kodix would tear her apart for treading too close. She didn't want to put up with a provoked Kodix. Relaxing once more, her fur lightly bristled in the wind.

Ghost jumped slightly as the pup began wailing once more. Great, it was making the horrendous noise again. As the pup stood she watched it, observing its weakness that she assumed came from the fact that it's parents werent there. The realization hit her as though she had been hit by a stags horns. Odious pack didn't have any pups, at least that she new of, so where did the creature laying at her paws come from? As the pup began playfully nudging her foreleg she placed her muzzle against its chest and sniffed it. It wasnt Odious, that was certain.
What do pups even eat? Milk? Was it too old for milk? Maybe she should be bringing the thing to Kodix, he'd know what to do. But what if he killed it? As Ghost looked over the small wolf she felt a fondness for it growing in her heart. She pawed at it playfully. "What do you eat?" She murmurred the question outloud.
Ghost turned her head to look at her King as he lay in the shade. It would be sensible to tell him, warn him that maybe other wolves were wandering around the area. Or maybe this was a Vigilance pup? Would that not encourage Kodix to kill it? Ghost sighed hopelessly. How could she do this without getting the pup killed?

The sun warmed the young she-wolf’s reddish fur as she busied herself, skipping excitedly between the patches of herbs that grew just on the outskirts of the pack’s camp. A squirrel chattered to her in the trees above before scampering off, the impact of it bouncing across the branch dropping a few green leaves. The Medic wolf stopped only for a brief moment to pull up a mouthful of her favourite peppermint from a small bed of wild mint before padding back to her den.
After storing her freshly-picked herbs she exited only to see the alphaess heading into the shade of a tree with a rabbit clamped in her jaws. Although the Medic had been awake since the early hours Sorita looked as though she had only just woken up. Mindful that the alphaess may not be in the ‘right’ mood to talk so soon after getting up, Cinna took a few tentative steps towards where she was lying, her head low in submission and a gentle smile on her face. “Good morning, alpha Sorita,” she said politely, as though not to provoke her if she were in some sort of mood. “I trust that you had a good night and that you’re feeling well today?”

Grimsley
Somewhere, high up in the branches of a tree a crow cawed ominously. The Beta male raised his blunt muzzle to the sound, his nostrils flaring as he caught the scent of both it and the decaying remains of whatever it had retrieved. Within a matter of seconds Grimsley lost interest in the corvid and lowered his head back to the ground with a huff. Half-lidded, his deep amber eyes watched whatever packmates of his that were still nearby.
Dead leaves rustled from beneath the grey male as he shifted onto his side. His eyes had closed now, the boredom of simply hanging around camp sapping his motivation to do much else. He remained awake however, his ears swivelling everyone now and again as he waited eagerly for them to alert him of any interesting goings on. That’s when he heard an unfamiliar howl from not far away, a howl that sounded as though it had come from a young wolf, and a weak one at that. Grimsley’s eyes snapped open. Last time he checked the pack did not have any small pups. With a low growl he rolled onto his belly and then rose to his paws, shaking his heavy pelt. From the corner of his eye he spotted the subordinate Ghost moving purposefully towards a strange lump that he had not noticed before. He shadowed the female, his head high with an air of authority with he detected the scent of wolf.
In a matter of seconds he too made out the shape of a wolf pup from the previously unidentified mass on the floor. He growled lowly with uncertainty, his neck outstretched to probe the pup with his nose as he circled around it. His first instinct was to ruthlessly kill the strange pup as to him it would just be a potential future rival for the pack, or raising it would consume the time and energy that the pack could use to raise a pup of their own blood. But he decided to back off for now, to see what the alpha would say. He looked at Ghost when the pup interacted with her. "Where's Kodix? He needs to see this." he said gruffly.

Kesi
He continued nosing the fae when the brute appeared, not noticing him. When he saw the male, though, he stopped and went up to him. He sniffed Grimsley; not knowing the brute's actions could potentially get him killed. He began rolling around in the grass, regaining some energy. He sat down, deciding he was bored. The pup poked the ground with his muzzle, and started digging around, not really looking for anything, just looking for something to do.

Ghost turned her sharp gaze to Grimsley and bowed her head slightly in aknowledgement of his higher rank. "Kodix is relaxing in the shade. I was hoping to leave him to it, as to not bother him." She watched the pup as it began to investigate the Beta and winced. It would be hard to protect such a curious pup. "However I think this may be an issue he would like to hear about. Do you want me to carry the pup so you may talk freely?" She inquired, nodding toward her King. She secretly hoped she would be able to keep the pup close to stop the ruthlessness of her King and Beta, giving herself time to think of a way to persuade them to her point of view.

Grimsley
Noticing the pup approach to sniff him Grimsley shifted away from the pup. When the pup rolled about and started to dig, seemingly oblivious to the fate that the Beta wished to deliver, Grimsley felt his fur begin to prickle. He glanced over his shoulder towards the shade of the trees as Ghost spoke and sure enough their king was there, relaxing in the shade. For a moment Grimsley reconsidered disturbing the alpha, for fear of the rebound that might occur should he dispose of the pup without the other's approval. Although he felt no sympathy for the lost pup and was willing to cut its life short, the alpha could have other plans in mind for it.
He stood there in thought for what seemed like ages before turning to Ghost. "Very well, you may bring it to him. Unfortunately I can't go myself though," he replied lowly. "with this runt's arrival I want to investigate further. Perhaps we have some unwelcomed guests on our land that I should see to. I trust you can take care of taking it to the king yourself." He flashed a dark look at the pup, waiting a moment to hear if Ghost dared an objection before strolling off. It had been a long time since he'd gotten to sink his fangs into anything and so was rather hopeful that he'd find a rogue slinking about looking for its misplaced whelp - or better yet, one of those Vigilance mongrels. The Beta paused for a moment, working his nails into the soft soil at the exciting thought before setting off again, nose to the ground as he retraced the pup's steps to wherever it had come from.

dragon ( vigilance ) ( omega ) ( crush - none ) ( tags - nix )
dragon, having been awake for around an hour, sat quietly observing the serene nature around her and watching over her sleeping pack mates. since she was omega, the female wasn't provided with a den. instead, a shallow hole in the dirt a little ways away from the others. she didn't mind much. her dark optics followed the brute as he did his ritual, the same one he did every morning. she shook her head and scoffed.
xena ( odious ) ( delta female ) ( crush - none ) ( tags - ghost, kesi, grimsley )
xena had been awake for hours. she didn't sleep well most nights due to anxiety. over the years, the she-wolf made many enemies. some of which were still alive to that day. because of this, she never got much rest. when she was lucky enough the fall asleep, it was restless and shallow. she turned her head, pale eyes narrowing at a pup in their camp. "what is that runt doing here?" the female practically hissed. she stood up gracefully and swooped towards it, eyes burning. she disliked pups greatly. they were unable to care for themselves and too needy, in xena's opinion.

Kesi
Kesi looked up to Ghost with an expression that said all too clearly, 'Another one?'. Kesi went to sniff the new wolf, deciding that all these wolves were boring. He yawned watching Xena talk. Kesi poked Xena with his muzzle, wondering if she would react. He sat in front of the she-wolf, noticing how she radiated control but ignored that. Kesi watched as the boring adults talked. He sat down, wondering when his parents would show up. He stretched out and poked Xena's leg again, hoping it would make something happen, like maybe that would make his parents appear.
