as a pro tip
you may want to actually research specific syndromes and disorders instead of relying on "the cliche insane person" trope, which is actually quite damaging and harmful to people who struggle with mental illness
having your character be a character who happens to suffer from a disorder (instead of 'a crazy person') will also give them added depth, complexity, humanization, and empathy from the audience. wikipedia is a good place to start, but please remember that even things like psychosis and schizophrenia are diseases that real people suffer from, and to merely lump them all into 'this is my crazy character, who acts crazy, lol' actually affects the lives of those who suffer from these diseases - often overwhelmingly negatively, especially if you are banking on the trope of "crazy people must be violent" (in truth, people with mental illnesses are far more likely to be victims of violence, not perpetrators of violence, partially because of the stereotype that they are not to be trusted and therefore nobody believes them, partially because of this idea that mental illness must be making them violent instead)
