I really like the timer and I hope they never get rid of it. It's one of the only reasons I use the program. I don't see why people are embarrassed by times, we are all learning at different paces, but if it's an easy fix I don't see why not. I don't see how it can be incorporated as an option, but maybe it can be.

Support. I think there should also be an option to pause the timer when you're not drawing and just taking a break.

Yes, I agree with this. I'd support this suggestion as well, possibly even more than the original. I'm not sure how it would work, but I'd like it. c:

That's a really cool idea! I feel like this would have a similar look to an iPod Nano if we took all this together though ;p (Pause, Go/Play, Stop)

    I support this as well.
    I personally don't use the Oekaki (I can't draw worth anything) but if I did I think it would be helpful to see the actual time it took someone, rather than how long the window or page was up. It probably also embarrasses some people, as you said, but even for those it doesn't they might like to be able to pause the timer when they take a break, just to see how long it takes them.

Hm... i thought about it for a while.
People who dont like the timer are most of the times (as far as i swe) people who draw really good, (close to) high quality.
The ones looki g at the timer when scrolling through the artworks is curious to see how long it took to make it. Beginners often do this too, to see how long such an artwrk takes to make vs how long they would with lower quality. Dont get me wrong, i dont mean t's bad. Every beginner needs practice.
Looking at the timer of experienced people might help others to see; its okay to take your time. People often admire someone who spe ds 14 hours on an artpoece and 7 drawing sessions.
There are a lot of pros and cons. I think its alright to hide it, but i dont really see why. It could work aa motivation or admiration.

@SabrinaB

That is definitely not true for all skilled artists. I've seen many works done incredibly well and accurately and take less than an hour- or another bafflingly short period of time. That being said, I can't really see where you are coming from.
Not to mention, obviously, there are amateurs that go very slowly. I am one of them. I take longer on one crappy thing than most skilled artists do on a masterpiece.
There are others who feel this way too- they are embarrassed that the timer says they worked for so long on something that feels mediocre to them (whether it be that they took breaks or actually spent all that time on it). That's the answer to your 'why'.

I didnt mean to say every artist spends hours on their work, i have seen really good pieces which took less than an hour too.
I just meant to say that the timer can be embaressed to some, but an inspiration to others. And keep in mind that beginners dont know the tools too well. They do a lot of things by hand, while experienced ones can use a tool or diffrent layer setting to win time.

Do you ever look on deviantart? I see some amazing art there and wonder how long it took for them to make it.
I think the timer on oekaki is a nice detail. I admire beginners who spend time on their work. I dont see any reason to be emberrased by it. And if someone doesnt like what it says they can just put a comment with it that they left it open when they went away for a moment.
