Mottlefur followed him down the tree and sniffed the air. She could smell dog, but it was the dog they were trying to distract. The dog followed them as they made their way through the forest. ''What should we call the dog?'' She asked to break the silence.

Cloudgaze lifted her head, using her tail to wipe away the tears that he started to stream down her face as she said, "Hello, Sparrowpaw. Everything is alright." She knew very well that her daughter would see through her half-hearted facade of happiness so she didn't even bother to try and pretend anymore. She simply told the truth. "Your father and I are no longer mates. I did something stupid. You could go ask him about it if you want. Maybe you'll cheer him up." She knew that Sparrowpaw preferred Leopardstripe over her and the tom had to be hurting just as she was. "Only if you want to though. Or you could stay here with me." She added since she would like to have the comfort of her kit's presence but it wouldn't hurt her if she chose to go to her father instead.

"Wait wait wait, we're naming the dog?" He asked. That seemed ridiculous! Nevertheless, he gave name suggestions. "How about... little nuisance? Kidding. Well... what kind of names do twolegs give their dogs? Max? Spike?" He thought of what names he'd heard before.

Leopardstripe readied himself. He would do it. He would do it now. He jumped, arms flailing. He yowled loudly for a while before hitting the ground with a loud crack and thud. Dead.

Sparrowpaw frowned. ''I'll just check on him really quick, I'll try to come back soon.'' She said quickly. She jumped down from the couch and ran out of the cabin. ''Dad! Dad!'' She yelled as she ran into the forest. Where was he?! Suddenly, she felt a feeling a dread, but didn't know why. ''Dad! Dad where are you?!'' She yelled, her voice for some reason filled with sorrow and despair.

''Well, we can't just keep on calling it 'dog'. I guess we can call him Spike.'' Mottlefur said. She sniffed the air and still didn't smell a twoleg or dog. ''If we don't find anything, what do we do with Spike?'' She asked.

"It's not much better here. Same thing every day, except I have no kits to play with." Rustpelt sighed.

Thinking for a moment about what they'd do if this didn't work, Falconheart sighed. "Well, I think we have two options. One - go back to the twoleg den and hope Spike doesn't follow. Two - camp out here for the night and hope he goes away." He said, naming the only two plans he could think of at the moment.
