Lightkit awoke from her dream, and walked outside. She had heard a yowl, and wanted to know what had caused it. Going back inside, she poked her mother, trying to wake her up. "Pondgaze? What happened?" she said.

Copperpaw wanted to get out of his nest on his own accord, but it looked like that wasn't going to happen today. Copperpaw was normally fashionably late for all things clan-life, part of the reason being it was awkward to wake up first, but today was different. Today, the air wasn't filled with the smell of fresh prey from the morning patrol; it was worry. Bolting upright, his fur stood on end as he walked briskly out the den, following the nearest warrior to whatever was going on. He side-stepped out of the way as the leader got up, his eyes widening as he saw what had caused the havoc: a dead body. More importantly, Skysteps. He broke into a cold sweat, deciding to stick at the back of the group as they got up to leave. Something was wrong here, and this couldn't be just an accident.... judging by the half-bitten squirrel that was left near her body.
