"Oh." I tried not to look startled, I mean, I knew there were people in there, but for some reason I was anyways. To make it worse, it was a girl with reddish hair who'd answered the door.
Crap. Seemed like every time I tried to talk to a girl I didn't know, I turned into the biggest loser on the planet.
Everyone in the lobby was staring at me.
My brain seemed to have shut down. I'd had a whole conversation in my head and now it was gone.
Pppffftt. Just like that. So I stood there for a moment, feeling like a complete idiot, but keeping my expression completely calm.
"Uh, hi..." I stepped in slowly, at least out of the rain, trying to look non-threatening, "Um, I'm not really sure how to ask this but I think I... I'm like you guys and I just need a place to stay, if you'd have me."
I looked at them, trying to guess who was in charge. I'd have though the older guy was, but you never know. I stopped looking my age at 15, so who knew how old these people were?
