Butterfly Lights
My first Butterfly Light as an artist - based off of fruit bats. They have bat-like wing edits.
This Butterfly Light was apparently found in the mines, hanging on the roof of it with some bats. The miner couldn't look after it, so he let us put it up for adoption instead.

Butterfly lights were recorded earliest around the 18th century when people started to miners came to the West. They were small and friendly, and the fire on their tails helped the miners see. Their ears could help detect movement in the dark, and they could rely on echolocation as well if it got too cloudy for their eyes to be of any use if dust kicked up. They guided them through the tunnels, and could detect harmful gases and when a tunnel would collapse. Now, they can serve as pets and help miners and workers today!
