Okay, thank you! I hear a lot of people suggesting slicker brushes, is it also true that shedding rakes in general are bad? I can guess why. I guess it's because it could damage the skin of cats? I don't want that... And I am planning to get one soon because it's shedding season and... It's my first cat, so when she coughed up a hairball.. I was disgusted. But of course I cleaned it up. I don't want to have to do that again though, so.. (secret: i covered it with baking soda and then used a paper towel, it was.. not solid.. it was.. wet..)
Anyway, thanks for your help! It really is very.. Err, helpful?

Shedding rakes are ok, as long as you know how to use them. Gentle, even strokes are all that's needed, and you only need to do it once a week or so.
Koda is a long haired cat, and she gets brushed daily. I use a combination of a slicker brush and a zoom groom and love it. My cats also get a beaten raw egg twice a week, which seems to have helped with their shedding. What do you feed her? Diet can go a long way to improving or hurting coat quality.

Ah i'm so happy, we've finally got one, well my dad has. It has been so long since I've had a cat (My best bud died last December, merry christmas to me AGAIN) and I've fallen in love with him. His name is Maximus (after Gladiator), he is a tiny black baby with white socks and small patch on his face which looks like a moustache. He is the sweetest little thing and I can't believe I left him. I usually don't stay at my dads for the whole weekend because he has no internet but now he has a kitten I don't think I can resist, I can give up the internet and my weekends to be with Maximus.
He doesn't meow properly he squeaks, every time he does my heart melts. He's also not grasped smooth surfaces, he just keeps jumping to the coffee table and failing because he can't grip anything to pull himself up
I just feel sorry for the other cats in our neighbourhood, we have two that drop by looking for cuddles and food because their owners just ignore them but they can't do that now we've got Max
Trying to get back into roleplaying, haven't done it for a while. I like roleplaying wolves but they have to be realistic so no alpha beta delta and especially no healer ranks. I like big cats, horses, cats. I like roleplaying warrior cats. I don't play a lot with human characters unless they're shapeshifters or dragon riders.
So if you have a roleplay that needs more members send me a PM.

Poor cats, but Maximus sounds adorable, I've always wanted a kitten, but I got a 2-year-old instead, and she acts like a kitten and she is really cuddly, so I totally love her.
she only looks cuddly, though, so don't even try it with her, I mean seriously, DON'T EVEN TRY.

This Is My Kitty, Ichabod. He Is A Bull Colored Cat and He's An American Short Haired Domestic.
But I've got a question, currently my house AC broke and so far it can get up to 105°. I'm wondering what to do to keep my cat cooled down for the time being.
I've changed his water bowl with iced water and try to place cool washcloths on him whenever I can.
Anything else?

Ah yes, we are in fact talking about the same cat.
@Transkitty
Oops..
We tried to switch her over to a boiled chicken diet, but.. Before we could, it spoiled and we haven't bought more chicken yet. So currently we're feeding her PurinaOne.
YES I KNOW.It's not the diet cats were meant for, and I know it's bad. I'll try to get more chicken.
This is our first cat and I'd really love some general help.

So recently I've been training my cat to do tricks, although it's not for show and mostly just simple instructions. I've taught her to sit, stay, go away, and I've also taught her not to step on people. be impatient when someone serves her food, or use her claws when she's hungry. There's one thing I've had trouble with, though, and it's getting her to come. I've tried whistling, snapping my fingers, calling her over with a treat, everything I (and the Internet) have thought of so far. I'd like to be able to get her to come to me, because I have one friend who's allergic to cats and others who are a bit scared and don't want her to cuddle them, which is problematic because she wants to cuddle everyone. Does anyone have suggestions as to how I can teach her to come when called?

While I'm not a fan of Purina, PurinaOne isn't a terrible food. However feeding her just boiled chicken will make her sick, because it's not a completely balanced diet. You could try switching her to Purina One Beyond or Taste of The Wild to see if that helps with her shedding. Both of those foods are around the same price as what you're feeding now!
