Yukiko had a gentle early life, her parents loved her, absolutely treasured their only child, giving her everything she could have ever wanted and everything she asked for. To say that Yuki was spoilt was an understatement, she was so far beyond spoilt. Due to her long fur and her tail, she was deemed special. As stated before, she gained her name from her beautiful blue and icy coat and her snowy ice tail but Yuki tried to ignore their love of just her icy coat. They loved her simply for only that, because they hoped that her blue coat and icy feel would bring an end to the deadly drought, that she would bring rain to the town. Yukiko hated the fact that they needed her help so much and she couldn’t offer it to them.

“Yukiko!” The loud voice boomed from inside the same house and the young Yuki came bounding down the stairs to see her father staring her over, his face seeming dark and unhappy and I knew that my lack of rain making powers had come into light, “Yukiko, we’ve lost another Kit today. She died of dehydration.”

Yuki gave a short nod and looked at her father, eyes filling with tears quickly as she watched him, “I'm sorry dad. I cannot control the rain.” She said with a sniff, trying to hold back her emotions from her father but she simply couldn't.

“They why was I given a daughter that looks nothing like her parents. You were a gift from god… A failed gift,” He growled at her and took an aggressive step towards Yuki and she backed off with a small yelp and her father snapped his jaws, “Leave. You are not my child.”

Yuki turned and moved, tears streaming her face as she pushed through the door into the open streets of her small town as she sobbed, she moved far from her house and lowered her head and cried, behind her came a thundering laugh, “If only your pathetic emotions could produce what we need. We need rain not a stupid child.”

His words shook Yuki further and she kept moving, the angry words surrounding her as she ran, “Useless freak.”, “Do something useful.”, “Kit Murderer.”. All the voices echoed her head but the last stuck, was she indeed the reason that the Kit died. They thought her as the saviour and stopped looking for hope. If she was never born maybe they’d of found an escape to the drought.

Yuki kept moving through the town, dodging all the voices but in her wild run, she smashed into a Kalon, her head twisting and her whole body rolling, scraping over the rocks as she slid against them, coming to a stop. She attempted to stand but her body was drained.

Before her looked the kalon she tripped over, A lovely young female Kalon. Her eyes were filled of tears just like Yuki and they stared at one another before the other Kalon slipped from the teary sadness to an anger, just like the rest, “You killed my only child. You killed her! Were you born to destroy our town!?” The female spat as she moved towards Yuki and Yuki stood, Needing to move to save her own life.

Blood spilled from her rock grazes and cuts, dripping as she backed away from the other Kalon, “Im sorry.. I didn't mean any of this. I don't know why i was born into this world, let alone this town. I wish I could of helped! I’m sorry..” She muffled her final appology and turned on her toes and ran.

“Your sorrys won't bring back my child! I hope you suffer for her death! I hope you die!” The female spat behind her as Yuki ran, Her eyes soaked with the salty liquid and it burned her, running down into her cuts and scrapes but she ignored the pain as she ran.

Yukiko only stopped running once she was out of the town and a fair way from it, She’d be running steady for about an hour and a half. Cut and sore, her muscles ached and her bones felt no better. So once she felt safe she collapsed to the ground, her paws aching as much as her body was and her eyes were still full of tears.

She attempted to push her body just a little more but she remained flopped to the dirt, the hardness of the ground stabbed her fur as she moved around a little to escape the discomfort but each move causing her more pain than it was worth to be happy against the floor.

She let out a few sobs and found herself falling asleep, tears in her eyes and body away from her comfortable bed that she had always lived with. She kept her eyes closed and let the sleep wash over her, an escape from her pain and upset. Sleep came quickly, almost the instant she closed her eyes.

“The world bubbled around me as my eyes opened and I looked around, the stars and moon shining a path. I stood to my paws, the pain was all gone, as if sleep had taken the pain away from my body and more so as if that pain was never there to start with. I moved my head around, noticing my town surrounding me. It was just as i remembered it, Peaceful, calm and rather happy.

Kits laughed and played, running about despite the darkness swallowing the sky. I stared at them before I noticed one fall and not get up. I rushed over, noticing her deathly expression and taking a step back but not before I was completely surrounded by kalons, all staring at me, their eyes glowing a dark red as they moved in to surround me.

They growled and snapped their jaws in my direction, just like when it happened but there was a lot more than just a mother attacking me, every face in town was striking at me, snapping their teeth, growling and yelling abuse at me.

“Disgrace.”.”Monster.”.“useless.”.“Murderer.”.“Alien.”.“Trouble.”. “Stupid.”. “Mental.” And the words kept coming, they flowed through my ears and I began to let the tears slip from my eyes as I fell on the spot. I could feel their muzzles but never actually against me, I just knew they were there. Until one muzzle hit me.

It was only a gentle hit but it was enough to catch my attention and I spun my head but saw no one close enough to actually touch me. I kept looking around, my eyes darting back and forth before it touched me again but my eyes knew for sure that there was no Kalon around me and I let out a cry and the world went dark again."

Yukiko moved her body up straight away, her eyes filled with tears and her body alert and as she stood, her head slammed into the chest of another Kalon and she growl, moving herself backwards as she tried to clear her tears but her body was definitely not up to fighting as she slipped slightly, attempting to hold her ground.

“You wish to fight me but yet you cry? Do you just want to show yourself as weak?” The Kalon gave up a simply speech and yuki stared at it. “You are simply not worth my time. A weakling.”

Yuki snapped forward, “Yet you still mock me as so so clearly I’m not that far under your effort.” Pretending to be unfazed by his comment but secretly she wasn't handling feeling this useless and she hated being seen as weak.

He turned his body, his tail, shaped like a lightning bolt as he flicked it and walked away and Yukiko gave a grumble and moved forward a little but fell to the ground and looked over the yellow Kalon, “Thanks for nothing.” She huffed.

The kalon turned on his heels and looked her over, from head to toe his orange scanned every part of my body. He then stepped closer and leant over her as she grumbled, “Oh hush you weakling. You’ve gotten yourself into this mess and I'm meant to just help you out of it?”

Yukiko looked at him and grumbled a little bit, moving her paws to try and stand up, “I didnt ask you to help me.” She moved her body up into a sitting position, her cuts finally not bleeding as she looked him over.

“Well when you spoke to me you sound desperate enough to need help,” His voice flared in anger, as if annoyed by his own decision to help. "Maybe someone just wants to help you,” Clearly in his voice he didnt actually mean himself.

“And Im sure I’ll be dead before someone wants to help,” Yukiko gave a short breath as she felt her body slipping again, the pain inside her body was worse than the cuts and scrapes. The emotional pain stung against her soul.

“Wouldnt want that,” The kalon said simply and looked her over again, glancing at her blue coat for a moment which cause Yukiko a lot of discomfort due to the idolisation she’d received before being betrayed by her town.

Yuki looked at him, his fur was different shades of yellows and oranges, marking off in lightning bolt shapes over his back and legs. His fur seemed to spike off and it suited the lightning markings but in the same way, he reminded her of herself. Elemental of sorts.

“Get some more sleep. It will help with recovery,” He said simply and seemed to set himself near her, seeming to glare at her until she slipped into a laying position where she closer her eyes and once again, fell into quick sleep.

Upon Yukiko falling asleep, the lightning Kalon waiting, keeping his sitting stance beside her, with a fair distance between them still. His face seemed like he was waiting, staring off in the darkness, waiting for something.

About half an hour passed of the Kalon sitting still before he actually moved. His body stood and he slowly moved closer to Yukiko, looking her over more thoroughly than he could of done why she was awake and his face turned slightly annoyed as he turned and walked from her.

“Stupid Kalon. Doesn't even have anything on her. All this effort for the weakling to be empty pawed and completely useless,” He grumbled as he walked away from her before stopping, something seeming to click in his brain and he turned back around and returned his spot by Yukikos side.

~~

The sun rose, burning its rays into Yukiko's eyes as she squinted and moved her body a little bit and looked over at the lightning Kalon, not sure she’d actually see him but he had indeed stayed put, watching over her as she slept. Yuki sat up and yawned a little, “Thank you.” She said simply and watched him a little bit, not speaking or moving.

Yuki moved and stretched, the pain still there but she attempted to ignore it as she sat back down, still a distance from him, “Oh yeah.” She said as she turned and faced him, “My names Yukiko, you can just call me Yuki if it suits you.” She spoke softly.

He gave her a look, just watching her a little, “I think I'll stick with Yukiko.” He spoke simply and turned his head from her. Yuki watched a little more as the silence began to eat through them. Yukiko tapped her paws a little. Still nothing.

Yukiko looked out into the open space, “okay. Yukiko is fine.” She said, waiting quietly, moments passing before Yuki looked at him again, “Nows about when you tell me your name.”

Clearly caught off guard by Yukis question, the Kalon turned his eyes and stared her down, his eyes empty as he searched for something. Finding his something he turned his head, “Ryo.”

Yukiko gave a nod and smiled at him, standing on her paws and moved forward, “Where are we going, Ryo?” Her words were cheerful and content. From her sad self, Yuki had slept away her discomfort and had to learn more on this lightning Kalon, Ryo.

Months had passed and Yukiko was still traveling by the side of Ryo, the lightning Kalon and although the trip was more quiet than chatty, Yuki had learnt a lot about this Kalon and his general life. She would often spend time asking questions, and he would often spend time ignoring her but when she did get a response, it was usually short and to the point, enough to get details.

“Ryo, where are we going?” Her one question was more often than not never actually answered but simply kept walking, travelling from place to place, never actually stopping, they met other Kalons but Ryo never stopped and never made friends, by nature.

One day they were in a smallish town but it wasn't friendly, Yukiko could feel that aspect straight away, this was the one time she could sense the small change in Ryos stance, he didn't seem afraid but he didn't seem to be himself at all. Yuki walked close to Ryo, sometimes bumping into him, he’d shoot her a glance but didn’t speak or stop her.

The darkness was just beginning to swallow the pair up when they saw the dark figures, Ryo took step forward, not to protect the female but seeming to remove her from the situation. Yuki moved backwards, Almost out of the way but curious as to what was going on. Yuki was pushed back by a figure, she couldn't see the Kalon but she fell backwards.

Yukiko let out a sharp yell, “Ryo!” She called out, trying to regain herself but she had just given herself away. She was Ryo standing with Kalons surrounding him. She moved in slowly, just out of her shot as she attempt to catch their words.

“Let me go and you can have the female,” She heard Ryo said and her ears pinned back but she simply blew it off as trap, Ryo was smart and this would be a good trap but Yuki wasn't one to play along.

She jumped from her spot and in beside Ryo as she stood her ground, “Leave him alone. Now.” Yuki barked, seemingly annoyed by the Kalons around her suddenly and they just laughed back her words.

“Come now, Darling, Surely you are smarter than to mess with a gang,” One of them roared with laughter and Yuki moved back a little, knocking into Ryo, who gave her a glance, a confused glance before he stepped forward.

“And I assume you are smart enough to not attack me,” Ryo stepped closer to the one that spoke and he instantly stepped back, now nervous of the situation, “Do you think I’m afraid to rip you piece by piece.”

The whole time, Ryos face stayed straight, unmoved by the Kalons that surround him. The seeming leader took another step back from them and gave Ryo a sharp growl, “You’re right. I am smart enough. But watch your back.” Ryo flicked his head as the other Kalons all moved from their surrounding positions.

Ryo gave Yuki a look, “Why did you do that?” he said roughly, beginning his walk, knowing they had to leave this place. Yuki gave him a clueless look and he glanced back at her, “Why did you attempt to stand up for me. You could of ran.”

Yukiko looked at him and looked ahead as they walked, “Well you are my friend of course.” Yuki gave him another look and gave a sweet smile, “What kind of a friend would I be if I left. Learn this, Lightning boy. You have my loyalty.”

Ryos ears seemed to flick a bit at the statement and looked at Yuki, “Loyalty?” He spoke softly and Yuki gave him a soft look back, “What is Loyalty?”

Yukiko was taken back by his comment but she still smiled, “Loyalty simply means that I am here to support you. I will be here to help you. Friends are loyal.” She said, unsure how to actually explain. He still seemed confused but they kept moving. Yuki looked at him, “Ryo.. Were you really going to give me to them?”

Ryo gave a short nod and yuki looked ahead, muffling a small laugh, not sure if he was serious about this or not but she left it at that. He didn't do it, so no problem.

It wasn't long after the event with Ryos apparent enemies that the pair managed their way into a seemingly quiet town. It seemed far to quiet. Ryo shot a look at Yuki who was caught, staring up at the moon. She had been readying herself for a blood moon and it was just as pretty as she thought. She quickly returned a look to Ryo, “Its to quiet. Whats going on?”

Ryo gave a look around the town, noticing most the people surrounding a house and he looked away, turning his heels from the scene, “But Ryo,” Yuki spoke, turning with him, “Shouldnt we see?”

“Its none of our concerns Yuki,” He said simply and began to pace away from the situation. Yukiko looked back and forth from the burnt house to Ryo before she followed Ryo, moving to walk beside him.

The pace was steady, never rushed with him and it gave Yuki the chance to look around, she glanced from place to place before stopping on a sight, “Ryo! Look. A Kalon. We have to help him.” She spoke moving.

Ryo, moved a little, trying to call her back, “No we dont.” he said simply, moving away still. Yuki spoke out the same words again and Ryo stopped, turning to her as she stared back at him, “Why? Hes just a stranger.”

Yuki moved in a little and gave him a determined stare, “But you helped me and I was just a stranger. Whats the difference?” Yuki said with a serious face.

“I thought you were useful. A dead Kalon is of no use to me,” Ryo huffed a tad and watched her, her eyes not giving up with the determined stare.

“Ryo, Hes not dead. Hes hurt,” Yuki turned and moved towards the bloody Kalon. With an eye roll and an unpleased grumble, Ryo followed Yuki, moving to her side.

“Your red light has cast upon me once more, may it claim my life this moment, instead of those who abuse me. Repent for my sins of murder, and heal those who will have lost me. Send the fires down to slay me!" The kalons words echoed over the pair, Ryo stopping in the spot but Yukiko continued forward.

“Are you okay? Let us help,” Yukikos words were soft and sweet, eager to assist the pained Kalon, the blood and mud splashing up her paws but she moved to the injured Kalon.

Unable to move the Kalon let out a grumbled noise, his body covered in blood and mud, limp against the ground. He attempted to look up, only catching the brief Icy and Lightning appearance of the pair.

Yukiko looked at him as he attempted to move, “Please dont move. It’ll make it all worse.” At Yukis voice the Kalon moved a little more and watched the icy eyed Kalon, “Please just stop.”

The kalon pushed himself up and growled out at the Kalons, “Save yourselves.” He turned on his feet but upon moving one step, his legs gave way to the pain and his whole body tumbled down the small hill.

Yuki cried out and moved her body after him and Ryo gave out a grumble as he followed, not willing to leave Yuki behind. The pair reached the Kalon, noticing him now unconscious. Ryo looked over at Yuki, “Leave him. There's no saving it.”

Yukiko shook her head, refusing to give into Ryos desire to leave the Kalon and situation, “We have to help him.” Yuki cried out, tears streaking her face as she looked at Ryo.

Ryo gave her a glance but chose to simply sit back away from them, at that point, Yuki set to work with things she knew from her mother. Gathering branches and leaves and everything she knew, she got to work helping the injured Kalon.
