Personality: Kashima is a major tomboy, though she almost never shows this side to anyone other than Luxxar. She sometimes lets Avalon see this side of her, but she feels like she doesn't fully fit in when she does so. Kashima is extremely interested in math and technology, mostly game design and computer programming, but she feels the need to hide that interest most of the time. Every now and then, she will find someone that she can totally geek out with, and it sets her heart free to know that she doesn't need to hide. Luxxar constantly tries to assure her that she doesn't need to be anyone other than herself, and while that may be true, Kashima doesn't often heed her words of wisdom. Kas can also be a total girly girl, though if you pay attention to her when she behaves like this, it almost looks as if though she is walking around in someone else's skin or playing a poorly written acting role. This is not to say that Kashima is a total phony, it is simply a mechanism that she uses to try and fit in with her surroundings more. Kas is also a total neat freak. If everything isn't exactly the way she likes, she has a small breakdown until she's made it as it should be. She has self-diagnosed herself with Atelophobia. Luxxar, of course, finds this rediculous, but can't help but agree that Kashima is a perfectionist. This fact probably played a major role in her successes in school. Her attention to detail also helps in situations where things must be perfect to run smoothly, such as creating some sort of software or building a device. Kashima also has some major abandonment issues, and so she does not put much effort into making close friendships or opening herself up to others. Avalon and Luxxar are currently the only two exceptions to this, but there will probably be a few more friends floating her way in the distant future. She also is used to being let down, and does not often put much faith into the promises that others make her. However, Kashima trusts Luxxar with her life, and will probably be one of the only few, if not the only one, that Kas will ever fully trust.

Internal conflicts: She sometimes feels like those who think she isn't smart may perhaps be right. She feels the need to appear overly feminine so that those around her won't think she is too masculine. She knows she sometimes comes off as ditzy because she tries to fit into the stereotypical roles that society has created for her. She wants to be herself, but at the same time, she wants to become famous so that her mother can find her. She knows that it is easier to become famous based on looks than it is to become famous based on smarts.

External conflicts: Many people wrongfully classify her as not overly intelligent due to the fact that she is a model. Ever since she was younger, Kas has had a difficult time making new friends. She wants to find her mother, but the amount of information (substantially little) that she and Luxxar have on her make it next to impossible.

The Past:
xxxxxAs a young kit, hardly more than a few days old, Kashima was left on the doorstep of her cousin's home in Northern Washington. Luxxar was the only remaining family member that Kashima's mother knew of, and knowing that she could not properly care for her newborn daughter, she saw leaving her in Luxxar's care as the best -and only- option.
xxxxxLuxxar, around eighteen at the time, awoke one night in early February to the sound of a soft "tap tap" on her apartment door. Startled at the sound, she rushed to see who the late night visitor was. It was uncommon for Luxxar to recieve any visitors at all, let alone at such an untimely hour. Snow fell gently as Lux opened the door to a quiet, and empty, doorstep. She grunted in frustration at the fact that she had just been dingdong ditched, probably by one of the loser boys that attended her high school. Just as she was about to close the door, however, she heard a small whining noise coming from below her eyesight. Swaddled toghtly in a pink blanket was an adorable and shivvering kit. A hand flew to her mouth as her eyes went wide with shock, and she raised the small kalon to her chest, squeezing tightly in an effort to spread her warmth to the small figure.
xxxxxLuxxar, trying desperately to see someone in the darkness, squinted her eyes and took a few steps off of the porch. As did so, a small folded piece of paper floated from the depths of the pink paper onto the snow-covered ground. She bent to pick it up, but waited to read it until the two of them, Luxxar and the baby, were safely inside the warmth of the small apartment. The note read:

xxxxxLuxxar paused for a moment, suddenly realizing why the baby had seemed so familiar to her: its coat was the same silver grey as that of her aunt's, Qetsiyah. As she read on, Luxxar began to wonder how anyone could just leave their child on someon'es doorstep- even if she was family.
xxxxxxxxxx"I know this must be a heavy burden to take on, but I have no one else to turn to. You are my darling daughter's last hope, and I know she'll be safe under your protection. I can no longer care for her, as I can hardly care for myself. I have gone overseas to find work, and I hope I find it soon. Her name is Kashima. My beautiful, elegant Kashima. I hope to see her again one day, and you as well. I am sorry for any struggle this must cause you, just know that I only do this out of love and hope for a better life for the both of us. With love and regrets, Aunt Qetsiyah."

xxxxxLuxxar knew that she couldn't take care of the baby. She was still in high school, and had no current direction in life. Her parents had just passed away in a freak car accident only four months ago, and she had barely been caring for herself since then. Her parents weren't particularly wealthy or anything, and barely left her enough money to keep herself, and their apartment, afloat. Because of this, Lux was forced to work a rather demanding job on top of still attending her senior year of high school. With a heavy heart, Luxxar placed Kashima into the foster care system, and vowed to keep an eye on her until she was able to take care of her on her own. Luxxar soon discovered her purpose in life: she helped kalon children that were placed in the foster system by becoming a social worker. She pushed as often as she could to get Kashima into the best homes she could find until finally, when Kashima reached the age of eight, she was able to become Kashima's permanent foster parent. She asked Kashima multiple times if she would let her officially adopt her, but Kas always refused. She claimed that her mother would return for her one day, and that she didn't need an adoptive parent because she had a real one. Luxxar would never admit it to Kas, but it stung her heart every time she said that even though she knew that it shouldn't. Up until the day that Kashima turned eighteen, she remained in Luxxar's care. However, when she became a legal adult, she was removed from the foster system and was free to do as she pleased.
xxxxxKashima was always at the top of her class, despite the struggles of moving from home to home at a young age. She never really made any close friends until after she had been permanately homed with Luxxar. All of those friendships faded away, however, as she soon realized that the world, for some backwards reason, valued beauty more than intelligence. She left her normal nerdy crowd to hang with the cool kids, and her grades began to suffer. She hadn't been failing or anything, it just wasn't the usual straight A's that Kashima had grown accustomed to achieving with ease.

The Present:
xxxxxIt wasn't until her junior year of high school that she finally began to clean up her act. If not for her lazy phase, Kas could have graduated as Valedictorian of her class. Despite this, Luxxar was still immensely proud of her, and beamed woth pride as if she truly was Kashima's mother. Soon after graduating, Kas began to feel that same pull towards perfection, and her passion for technology was hidden away as she tried to find her place in a society that only wanted her to be a pretty face. Her programming skills became a hobby, and Kashima fell into the world of fame. She used her looks to spread her name as a model in hopes of making it easier for her mother to find her. Luxxar would never tell her this, but she didn't think that Kashima's mother would ever return. She simply let Kas hold onto that thin thread of who she was and where she came from, because she knew how much it matter to Kas. Modeling is how Kashima met her best and only friend, Avalon. The two of them can get into some trouble, and often times, Kashima is the one having to save Avalon from dumb situations. Now, at twenty years old, Kashima is ready to take a more active aproach at finding her mother. But because no one, not even Luxxar, has much info on her other than her name.

Relationships:

The two of them are suuuuper close. Luxxar took Kashima in when she was a very itty bitty kit and has watched over her ever since. Luxxar was 18 when Kashima was left with her, she is now 38. Luxxar is Kashima's foster mother/paternal cousin.

She adores Avalon, but Avalon doesn't really understand her whole techie side. They met through modeling. Avalon often gets into trouble and Kas has to save her. Avalon is the opposite of Kashima, she isn't dumb, but can be quite carefree, and she comes from a rather priviledged family that spoils her with loads of money. She has no reason to model orher than she likes being looked at and admired.
