Sweet tooth or nah, why?

There are five established basic tastes: Sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and savory. Of these five, Sami can taste none. She was born with a rare taste disorder called ageusia, leaving her with the inability to detect all flavors. This makes it impossible for her to understand what "sweet" really is, let alone for her to have sweet tooth.
Despite her ageusia, Sami actually loves to eat.

While she is unable to taste, Sami can still feel the effects of certain foods. Her favorite things to eat are red pepper flakes (or anything spicy, for that matter). She puts them on her tongue and leaves them there because she likes the way the shells burn her mouth. She has also been known to chew on peppermint leaves for their fresh, sharp bite, and down large quantities of soda because of the way the bubbles tickle her throat.

Extra (personality):
Sami may be kind of a slug, but she's also incredibly resourceful. She goes great lengths to get what she wants, even when her crazy schemes take more time and effort than actually asking for the thing she wants. (She's the type of character who'd create a contraption made of pencils and straws to turn on the tv without getting up, but once she's out of supplies, she'll get up to get more pencils and straws.
Sami's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but she doesn't care about how smart she needs to be. As long as she's having fun, she's happy.

"Sweet tooth? Never. I prefer savory over sweet. Always have. Give me seafood or give me death!"


Delyth is a lover of food for absolute certain. She's a bit of a gourmet and knows how to whip
up something tasty, especially when it comes to seafood. However, she doesn't much care for
sweets, and would much rather have a plate of salmon than a bowl of ice cream.

On the flip side, there is one treat she never, ever turns down, and that's carrot cake. If she were
given the choice between salmon and a carrot cake, it would be a much harder decision.


An Inside Look
Her Home
As a bit of a chef and a lover of seafood, Delyth has always lived near the shore. She loves running
alongside the gentle tides, enjoying the feel of the damp sand between her toes, and being near
salt water makes it easier for her to find sources of fish; frequently she'll take a small boat and go
fishing, cooking whatever she catches and occasionally selling a few. Her home isn't much, simply
a remote, abandoned shack left behind by a long-gone family of humans, but it's warm and safe, and
she's made it much more homey over her years of living there.

Her Trinkets
Delyth is a natural-born collector. She likes to collect shells, rocks, marbles, anything small, colorful
or shiny--you name it, she has it. A small, battered shelf about twice her height, left behind by the
previous dwellers, is devoted to displaying these little baubles, tucked into the corner of her room
next to her nest. Each ledge hosts a different type of object--the "shell ledge" has the largest number
of items. She adores her collections and adds to them frequently.

Her Best Friend
Delyth's best friend is a bullet dragon named Valrico. They met when they crossed paths in a small
forest, having quite literally run directly into each other. Delyth, surprised to see another of her kind
in this remote territory, started asking questions, and once the initial shock had faded, they found
they had quite a lot in common, and hit it off very quickly. They enjoy races, and meet up nearly
daily to chat and have fun. Occasionally they'll curl up in a small pile for the night, looking like a
pile of breathing fire. They click very well and one couldn't get along without the other.

Marmalade wouldn't call it a sweet tooth; rather he has a sour tooth. He adores
anything that's even slightly sour. Lemons, oranges, sherbets; you name it, he likes
it. He doesn't much care for other sweets and finds them inferior to his "refined
tastes." (So basically, he's just a big baby who's easily nauseated by things that are
too sweet.) Regular foods to Marmalade are just that: regular. He'll still eat them,
but with little to no enthusiasm or gusto.

Personality:
Marmalade was aptly named
at his birth, as his character
traits include being slow,
colorful, sweet, and slightly
sour. He's contemplative in
all of his actions and despises
having to make hasty, half-
baked decisions. This does
not, however, prevent him
from enjoying his happier,
playful hobbies like redecor-
ating his entire living area
in bright blues or something
of a similar nature. He'd just
think about it a lot first. His
jokes and tricks are usually
very subtle, but they are there
if you know him well enough
to know to look for them. He's
also fond of giving little
gestures of appreciation to
those around him, as he's not
very comfortable verbally ack-
nowledging that he likes others.
It feels too much like admitting
that he has weaknesses, and
that is not something that he
was raised to do. Just look at
his so-called preference for sour
things, all because he can't
handle copious amounts of sugar.

Sweet tooth or nah, why?
Margarine loves sweets! She loves the way a really good piece of chocolate can melt in her mouth, or lemon pie that's not too sweet and not too tart, or a fresh brownie from the oven, or homemade pudding chilled in the fridge!
But one thing she loves more than eating sweets is baking them. Unfortunately though, Margarine is a little impatient when it comes to baking. She tries to do all the steps all at once, bolting around the kitchen, grabbing everything she needs, mixing all the ingredients as fast as she possibly can, and... usually ends up wearing most of her recipes.
But hey, it's the thought that counts, right?
