Yes! Moggies are amazing. They come in pretty much all colours, fur length, size etc.
My two Moggies turned out pretty well, minus the fact that they're now old and senile XD

Thanks everyone! Also, are there any cats that are known to behave well around dogs? We have a papillon bordercollie mix and a bordercollie pitbull mix, and I don't want them to fight

Pfffffffffff. Lol. I've got a cat, presumably moggy and she is light ginger and white (we suspect she is turning white) long-hair, but this can go to cat chat now

I suggest you just introduce them carefully, and your cat won't mind your dogs and the other way, around. I highly suggest you do not get a purebred though.

Introduce them slowly, let them get to know each other and work slowly. Don't rush it.

Here are my cats. Because all my pictures are too big, there are no pictures.

Patches- Patches is small, a 6 year old calico female who is extreamely playful (she needs to play for at least an hour every day) she is a shy cat, but if she knows you she is really sweet. As a young kitten she was a stray but we adopted her.

Max- Max is a huge 5 year old black male who is lazy and likes sleeping. He does have playful moods every once in a while but most of the time he doesn't do much. He is really sweet and LOVES head butting things and string.

Ruby- Ruby is a big 5 year old black female who is Max's sister. We got her because someone took in a stray cat and it had a litter of kittens. Ruby likes to sleep but also likes to play. She is Very smart, and can open plastic contaners in seconds. We got a cat food container with a spinning lid, but she figured out how to open that too. She really likes boxes.

Skittles- Skittles is a 3 year old fluffy brown tabby who is really playful and cuddly. My grandparents live at a cottage and feed stray cats and one of them had kittens so we took him in. He really likes to be outside in the outdoor cat enclosure we have.

Oscar- Oscar was a 19 year old orange tabby. They had him at a vet clinic when he was 9 months old and he had been returned twice. We took him in, and he destroyed basically everything he could, but he mellowed with age. He passed away May 27 2016.

the benefit of cats is that people that own them are more gentle in nature and you will be 25% less prone to cancer. :)

Haha, very true. The amount of times I've tripped over a particular Artemis hurtling towards me

Anyway, back to the original question at hand. Cats are amazing. Don't expect them to be too dependent on you though! If you live in a village or place where lots of people live close together, your cat will most likely wander off to get food elsewhere. That can be good or bad, depending on how you look at it. Cats are more low-maintenance then dogs, but equally as affectionate.

Unless you're a cat called Arty, then you get embarrassed by cuddles...

If you're looking into getting a cat, I'd recommend looking into shelters and those sorts of places. A majority of cats in my family were rescues or strays. My Grandad and my dad used to take in loads of strays and look after them, since a large number were injured or malnourished. And all of them turned into amazing cats.

A benefit of the aforementioned is that you get to know you're saving an animal's life. I don't mean go out and rescue whichever cat you see on the roadside, I mean, go and look at some rescue centers. My Arty was from a rescue center and he's a lovely boy (minus him being a Ninja). My other two were from a roadside horror show, where the "owner" was selling them in a horrid condition, underage. Lenney almost died.

They're all grown up now and my best friends. You'd never know they came from such a place. I always recommend looking into rescue centers when it comes to cats, or any animal, for that matter.

Good luck :D
