Scout dipped his head. "Nice to meet you too, I'm Scout; Lyric's mate." He stepped forward and licked Dorian's nose. "Cat got your tongue? Ah, don't worry,"

[Lavellan]

Dorian snapped at Scout's nose with a yelp. Head down, teeth bared, he growled. "Don't touch me, stray." He snarled, spitting out the word 'stray' like it was filthy. Lyric jumped in between them. "Please, don't be dumb, Dorian!" The Setter looked at her, something resembling hurt in his eyes. "Ly, how can you be mates with that?" Lyric looked at him, disgusted. Before she could even respond, there was a commotion across the park. Two humans were running towards them. Lyric wagged her tail to them, recognizing them as Dorian and Cocoa's owners. However, they were shouting, waving their leashes around. As they got closer, Lyric walked towards them, hope in her heart that they would recognize her. They shouted, words unintelligible to the dogs. One of them swung a leash at Lyric, hitting her straight in the nose with the metal clip on the end. She howled, falling away, tail between her legs. One of the people towered over her, hitting her with the soft part of the lead, shouting what Lyric recognized to be "Go away". She ran, darting towards the fence before scrambling over it. She fell, hard, on the other side of the fence, running off into the street and out of sight. The other human was shouting as Scout, telling him to "Get away from my baby!"

((Oh my gosh, I pressed the wrong button and almost lost the whole thing! That was scary!))

Scout snarled and bared his teeth. "What's it to you, caged dog? To you, it's rouge, and you, dumb ol' red, I am her mate because I live up to it. And because we run free, living on OUR terms, OUR ways, and OUR rules. So actually, you're on OUR grounds." He turned and leapt onto the human, making the person stumble. "Next time you won't be so lucky," He growled at the other human, hackles raised. "So watch out." He recoiled and pranced off towards Lyric, trotting with eleagance. Scout helped up Lyric and padded away.

[Lavellan]

Lyric pawed at her nose, whining softly. She pulled her paw away, noticing blood. Whining even louder, she walked away, head down, tail tucked between her legs. Her heart was heavy, she felt like she would never be happy again. Her friends had turned on them, and the humans... They had hit her. She didn't even look at Scout, she just slunk away.

Scout looked up, his back stiffening and paws freezing. Overtrust and betray. Why I don't trust anyone. Sure, maybe I trust Lyric but anyone else? Nope. She trusted too much in those humans and they betrayed her, classic. Why would she ever trust them. I get it like she gets my story but it doesn't make me any less shocked and confused. Now what's happened? She's slinking away, tail tucked, ears drooping, tears rolling, and mind a mess. Lyric's having an emotional meltdown. Oh boy. He thought, assuming comforting her now would do no good.

[Lavellan]

She padded along, mind reeling. Why were humans like this? Why did they love some dogs but not others. She kept her head low, tail almost dragging on the ground behind her. She wasn't paying attention to where she was going, she was just walking. Her heart felt heavy, as if it were pulling her down to the ground. She didn't know what to do, she didn't know where to go. But she knew what she wanted. "Scout?" She called, not realizing he was behind her. Turning to face him, she raised her head, a weak smile on her face. Without saying anything, she nuzzled his shoulder, just wanting to be comforted. Pulling away, she barked a small laugh. "So.. That steak place you mentioned before...?"

Scout nodded, eye brows raised. "I know you don't want to hear the truth right now, but I think it'll help you later on. Humans love those new, cute, adorable, cuddly puppies, right? But they grow up. The human and the dog grow up. The human gets married, has a baby, and the dog is forgotten over time. They only look at how cute the puppy is, not what he will become. They think they bought a yappy Chihuahua, but it's actually a golden retriever. Soon they hate him and he's thrown out onto the street. After that they are automatically, 'filthy', 'ugly', 'vermin' , 'dangerous', 'attacking', and more. Human's love never really lasts." He finished off, walking next to Lyric. Scout walked in the direction of the steak shop, quiet now. "Yes, steak would definitely help."

[Lavellan]

Lyric sighed, looking to him with sad eyes and a weak smile. "Yeah, Scout, I guess you're right." She looked ahead, padding along beside him. "It just..." She trailed off, licking her nose. With a sigh, she looked back to Scout and continued. "It just might take me a little while to get used to that notion." Nuzzling Scout and licking his nose. "I'm glad I have you" She whispered, barely audible. Shaking herself off, she made herself perk up, determined not to bring Scout down. Letting her tongue loll out of her mouth, she wagged her tail to Scout and pranced a little bit. "This is going to be fun!"

"Ah, be optimistic. Don't let your looks define who you are. And, always, ALWAYS, live by the flow. Don't ever get used to people again..... Can you promise me that? All they are is a heart break, a let down, a failure, and a disappointment." Scout said, nuzzling his lady too. They turned into an alleyway, smell of steak drifting into their noses.

[Lavellan]

"Gooo with the floooww" She joked, with a small laugh. "I promise." She said in a small voice with a smaller wag of her tail. As they got closer to the steak restaurant, her mouth began to water. She quickened her pace, nearly trotting around the corner. "Oh, Scout!" She groaned as they got closer, the smell dancing through her nose, stomach beginning to grumble, "This is great!!" She paused, not quite at the restaurant. "Uhm.. I'll follow you?"
