First Meeting

Postby DarkestWerewolf » Sat Jul 23, 2016 2:02 pm

Task 1:
Status: Complete
Words: 506

I was just passing by the countryside on my stallion, Shironeki. It was just a regular afternoon when I heard shoutings up front. Being curious, I decided to go and find out what was the commotion about. Behind the fences was a large herd of Arabians and a few wranglers. A large barn loomed over as the wranglers tried to bring the Arabians into a smaller fenced up area.
I got off Shironeki and went to know what was going on. A lady in her middle-aged told me that the Arabians were semi-wild and they're looking for people who could help bring them home. I was curious and went to the herd of Arabians that were now in a smaller enclosed area. I tied Shironeki to a nearby post and observed the herd. There were so many of them and of varying degrees of how wild each were.
Just then, one caught my attention. I told one of the wranglers and they led her out of the herd. She was a stunning beauty. Purple eyes trained on me as she stood perfectly still. Her silver mane and tail swayed in the wind and her blue-ish coat shimmered like glitter under the sun. Just then, she took off, bolting and rearing around the fenced up area.
"She's a wild one." He said as we observed her in a seperate place from the others.
The mare looked at us. I took out a carrot from Shironeki's saddlebag and held it out. She knew what it was and trotted over. Sniffing the carrot before taking bites out of it. I stroked her as she finished the carrot in a mere few bites before trotting off.
"Looks like she likes you." One of the wranglers said.
"She's one of the wildest horses we have and she don't always accept food from strangers." Another added.
For the next week, I constantly visited her and brought treats along. She would always be weary when she noticed me but as the days passed and showed that I pose no threat, she eased up and let me pet her.
At the end of the week, I have finally made my decision and decided to bring the mare home. A few days after signing the documents, my trailer pulled up and the mare was brought into the trailer after placing carrots and apples in there. It was evening by the time she reached the barn and everyone was tired. She was still quite a wild mare and was a bit uncooperative but my stable-helpers and I managed to get her into her stall. She was a true beauty and she would always be curious of everything. Eventually, we decided to name her Galaxy because of the way she sort of shimmers under the sun and because the halter for her had a star charm on it. It would take some time for her to get used to her new home but I am confident that she will settle in nicely. It takes time and effort.

Getting used to their new home

Postby DarkestWerewolf » Sat Jul 23, 2016 3:33 pm

Task 2:
Status: Complete
Words: 239

Over the next few days, Galaxy was slowly starting to settle in. She wasn't as cooperative but it was because of her wild spirit that still burned within her. Galaxy absolutely loved being in the paddock. The moment she was led out of her stall and the gates to the paddock opens, she bolts in and just runs free, feeling the wind in her mane.
It does take time for one to settle down in a new place but as a few days drag to a month, she became noticeably friendlier, open and more cooperative. Another thing Galaxy loves other than running free was grooming.
Whenever she sees anyone with a brush, she would neigh and tap her hoof, trying to draw their attention to groom her. There were a few other horses in the barn as well and she socialised well and got along pretty well with all of them. Even though she was still new and can be a little reckless, the others treated her nicely and would play and gallop with her. After a month and a half, Galaxy was quite settled in and have gotten used to the routines and going-ons of what happens at the barn. She would occasionally be brought of trail rides with the other horses and would watch the others practice for competitions and all that. Needless to say, Galaxy loved it and she wouldn't want to change anything about it.

First training

Postby DarkestWerewolf » Sat Jul 23, 2016 3:39 pm

Task 3:
Status: Complete
Words: 328

After settling in completely, it was time to begin training. After observing Galaxy, it would be decided that her discipline would be Jockey. She is quite gifted with stamina, able to keep going on and on for a long time. Everytime they come back from a long trail ride, she would still be fine and could happily tuna few more rounds around the paddock while the other horses would be resting. Her speed was average but was still a decent runner. All she needed was practice and Galaxy would be a speed demon bringing home trophies and ribbons.
We rode to a nearby dirt track. It was a large fenced up area with a jockey practice track. It was bought buy someone and they decided to convert it into a practice track, free for all to use. I put on my helmet and protective gear before mounting Galaxy. One of the stable-hands blew a whistle and we took off. Galaxy started strong and bolted down the dirt track. She was quick as I could feel the wind howl. However, as we were a little more than halfway through, Galaxy became noticeably slower. It wasn't a significant decline but if it was a real competition, she would be overtaken. We finished off and it wasn't a bad record at all. Galaxy was breathing quite heavily as she caught her breath. Adrenaline was pulsing though my body as we took a break.
I took out a small note book and wrote down what to work on. After concluding and getting a little more rested up, I decided to try again. This time, we didn't start off as strong and as we were finishing, we went for broke and we actually finished quicker than the first time. After a few more experiments, we decided to call it a day and head back as Galaxy would be fired by now. It was quite a productive day and a great first training session.

Favourite trip

Postby DarkestWerewolf » Sat Jul 23, 2016 3:40 pm

Task 4:
Status: Complete
Words: 266

It has been 4 months since Galaxy first came to the barn and she has been an absolute sweetheart. Sure, there were times where she wasn't in a good mood but that's normal. No one is always in a good mood all the time, same goes for animals. Despite that, she is still a great horse. We have gone on a few short trips together but there was own that stood out in particular.
It was a 2 days 1 night camp at a popular campsite with a large waterfall. My 2 friends, along with Galaxy, Sundance, Nightmare and I decided to head there. That morning, we mounted the horses and headed off. It was a beautiful ride as we strolled through the lush greenery of the forest. Eventually, we reached an opening with a large waterfall in the middle. It was a beautiful sight. The water was clean and was safe to drink and we let the horses take a nice drink while we set-up camp.
Everything was perfect. We spent the remaining of the day just having fun in the water while the horses rest under the shade. By nightfall, we built a fire and told some good old ghost stories. Galaxy and the other horses enjoyed he company as they watched us get frighten and laugh.
We eventually called it a night, took out our sleeping bags and slept under the stars. By morning, we started packing up, ate breakfast and left. It was a refreshing trip for us and the horses as well, to get away from the bustling activities and stress.

First Competition

Postby DarkestWerewolf » Sat Jul 23, 2016 3:41 pm

Task 5:
Status: Complete
Words: 306

A year has passed since Galaxy came and it was been a remarkable year. With the amount of training she has went through, she has shown a significant improvement in her speed. After some discussion, the stable-hands and I agreed that it would be a great time to let her enter for her first competition.
It was a rookie cup for green horses. On the day of the competition, a trailer came and pick Galaxy. I wasn't nervous, more excited actually. When we reached, I got dressed, mounted Galaxy and went off. After the "presentation round" the horses all got into place, ready for the race the begin. We were tagged number 5.
The whistle blew, the gates flung open and we were off. A black Thoroughbred took the lead followed closely behind by a graceful white Andalusian. We were maintaining in third as we galloped down the path. I took a quick glance behind and noticed an Anglo-Arabian and a Kiger Mustang slowly catching up. I maintained the pace while they tried to keep up. As we started to close in on the finishing line, I noticed that the Thoroughbred and Andalusian was slowly down. It was the perfect time to go full speed ahead. Galaxy bolted down the path, leaving a significant gap and everyone in her dust. The crowd went crazy as Galaxy crossed the finishing line 10 seconds before the others did. We were announced the winners and that day, we brought home Galaxy's first trophy. The trophy had Galaxy and my name engraved on it. I raised the trophy to the crowd and they cheered once more. Galaxy reared and neighed as if she also knew she had won on her first competition. With such a great start, it would truly be a wonder on what Galaxy can achieve in future...
