Dovekit was curled up in the nursery, sound
asleep. Though she was still scared that
something would happen, the warmth of her
siblings had eventually lulled her into a
slumber. Her peaceful sleep was only broken
by the familiar voice of a clan member.

"Dovekit, wake up!" They whispered. The
she-kit opened her eyes, slowly lifting her
head to see the other cat.

"What is it?" She asked, with a yawn.

"I want to show you something," they
answered, "but you can't tell anyone. It's
a secret."

"But I'm tired," Dovekit protested, drawing
out the last word. "Can't I just go back to
sleep?"

"Fine," the other cat replied, turning away,
"but this is your only chance to see it."
They continued, looking back at her over
their shoulder.

As the cat slowly began to walk away,
Dovekit became uncertain about her
decision. "Wait!" She mewed, scrambling
to her paws to follow them, "I'll go!"

They turned back to her. "Then come on!"
They exclaimed, before starting off into
the darkness. Dovekit contentedly trotted
along behind them.

It was when they reached the gorse tunnel
which lead out of camp that the kit began
to edge away from the other cat. "I don't
want to go out there at night..." She
meowed softly.

"It'll be fine, I promise," They responded,
taking a step out through the tunnel.
"Unless you don't want to see it."

The she-kit hesitated. "No, I do! But..."
She sighed. "If you think we'll be safe,
then I'll go."

The cat seemed pleased with this answer.
"Follow me then!" They said as they
padded out of the camp.

The two walked on through the darkness
for what felt like ages to Dovekit,
seemingly wandering without a destination.
"C-can we go back?.... I'm scared..." She
mewed, moving to walk next to the cat.

"No," They replied quietly, "we're almost
there. You'll see."

At the sound of a twig snapping, the she-kit
quickly turned. "What was that?" she
whispered. When she got
no response, Dovekit looked back to the
cat- only to find that they were gone.
"Where did you go?... Come back, it isn't
funny!" She cried out, her paws trembling
with fear. Her eyes searched for even a
silhouette of her clan member, but she found
nothing. She had never been out of camp
before, and had no idea of how to get back.
The kit was stranded, lost in the pitch black
of night.

Tears pooled in Dovekit's eyes as she
stumbled blindly through the forest. But she
was far from alone- her words and pawsteps
had drawn something to her. Two eyes shone
menacingly through the shadows.

The unknowing kit could do nothing as the
fox crept up on her. Though it wasn't often
that such a young cat was out in the forest,
Dovekit was a perfect target. The beast
leaped upon her, clamping her fragile body
in its jaws. She shrieked in pain, but was
quickly silenced by the powerful teeth
which punctured her throat.

By dawn, the only thing remaining of the
kit was her skeleton.

Thunderclan has lost another cat! Find
the murderer, before they can take more
innocent lives!

Sterlingkit awoke that morning bright-eyed and bushy tailed, relieved that Goldenpaw..the murderer.. was gone from Thunderclan for good. He stood up in his nest and yawned before looking around the nursery. Everyone was where he'd last seen them except for Dovekit. He frowned. "She must've gotten up early this morning." He concluded quietly and padded out of the nursery toward the fresh-kill pile.

Foggypaw lay, the slightest bit anxious, but not as much as usual. Normally, she was always a nervous wreck. But, she felt a bit of... confidence in herself, believing she voted off the correct cat. She got up, stretched, and then plopped right back down. She wanted to relax today. She doesn't relax very often, so this is a once-in-a-blue-moon thing for her. But then she got bored, so she got up, looked for something in the fresh-kill pile. She found a really fat squirrel so she chose that and when back to her nest, plopped down, and, Thank you so much StarClan, for granting me and my clan this wonderful food to eat. It is truly a blessing. she said a silent thanks. Then she dug straight in and relaxed.

Yellowfeather woke up peacefully that day, hearing no screams or cries. She looked around and found Dovekit and Sterlingkit missing. She began to get a bit worried, but then tried to convince herself that they were fine. Walking out, she spotted Sterlingkit at the fresh kill pile. "Sterlingkit, have you seen Dovekit?" she asked as she walked over.
