random post ab my thoughts on the show even though i almost never post whoops
definitely not trying to cause a dispute, but any thoughts on how riley's been acting recently? i haven't liked her character much since season 3 (she wasn't my fave to begin with) but that true maya scene - "exactly where i need you to be!" - really got on my nerves. it bugs me that she doesn't appreciate all of lucas, only "lucas the good", really only referencing moments they've had from 2 years ago in the show, and has just been a bit "eh" in recent episodes. not trying to cause an argument, just my honest thoughts.
onto maya who i feel has her background constantly ridiculed by her friends... prime examples here. the outrage at her good grades and morals when she "turned into riley" really bugged me too. why can't maya have good grades? why is her bad girl, troublemaker trope reinforced by those around her? it just didn't make sense.
they're taking too long to settle this "not-triangle". [ highlight to read ] what the gm ski lodge movie sequences really show me is that neither of them are ready for a relationship; although i do feel that maya is more ready than head-up-in-fairytale-clouds riley (from a biased lucaya shipper perspective, of course) i would hate for either rucas or lucaya to happen right now. unless the relationship doesn't work out and allows character growth, i'm just not up for it. that's all i have to say on the subject.
i feel sorry for farkle and his lack of involvement, with both girls who he's loved since birth orbiting around someone that wasn't a part of their group until recent. i understand that he's with smackle, (im trying to polarize between riarkle and smarkle, both are just adorable) but imo it would be frustrating. i think the volcano thing referred to him as well, maybe EVERYONE'S going to blow.
also i need more zay.
I agree with basically everything. I don't understand what the creators are doing to Riley. She's somewhat what she used to be but she's becoming more self-centered. And what really bothered me in Girl Meets High School was when she said "Lucas, you'd get killed on the football team." That. Is. Not. Riley. Riley believes in anyone. Riley knows first hand what it's like to get killed in something you really love (for her it was cheerleading). Yet Lucas stood by her. This was so uncharacterstic of her it bothered me.
What also bothers me is they're not allowing Maya to be civilized. It can be who she is if she wants it. What's so bad about that?
Also in Girl Meets True Maya, I did not like how she claimed Riley was the one holding her back from being the dangerous individual she could be. She seemed to be trying way too hard to impress everyone and to find herself again.
And in Girl Meets Ski Lodge,
I lost my Rucas ship. Riley needs to separate reality from fantasy. But even so, I'm not sure Lucas is the one for her anymore. He used to be, he used to break countertops for her and treat her like a princess. His care for her seems to be nonexistant; he wouldn't treat her how she wants to be treated anymore. The time isn't right right now. And for Lucaya, I feel like Maya enjoys Lucas's company. However, I don't think she really really likes him. Her fantasy shows companions, not partners. And she doesn't react to him the way she does to Josh, so I feel there's someone out there more right for her that will be her companion but also will make her feel BWA-LA-LA-LOO. And I think Lucas needs to realize not all 3 of them can figure the triangle out. Riley and Maya won't choose. They both want him, it's his choice to make to know who he wants. Plus, what happened to his "choice?" "I've made a choice!" straight to "All 3 of us need to make a decision." My vote right now is unfortunately neither Lucaya nor Rucas. If it was back to New Years, Rucas all the way. But something's shifted. I'm not a fan of any of the characters right now. Except Zay lolOne more rant in Girl Meets High School.
I wish Riley broke down when her friends left.
It could have been a heart breaking moment.
The dialogue was there.
"You don't leave Farkle." -Riley
"It's not your fault." -Maya
Maya had a break down that made it more powerful but what would have really set it over the edge would have been if Riley showed more of her loss or how she blamed herself or how upset she was that they all left her. So much more could have been done there (the mini one in part 2 doesnt count tbh, that was for humor not power).
Season 3 has been great plot wise but a let down in some presentation and in character development for me.

Edit: There's a rumor going around that Maya still likes him. I just have a few things to say on this:
1. It's unfair of her to keep messing with Riley and Lucas's relationship, and to keep toying with her best friend's feelings.
2. She already has her fantasy boy, what?
3. It still likely wouldn't happen. Lucas's face when Maya said that he liked her and it was always her was clear; his choice was not her. His choice was Riley. It's always been Riley. Right not, Maya and him aren't right in the show. That's okay. Maybe someday they will be, in a different time and place (I do ship Rucas though, just wanted to give some Lucaya shippers hope. (:)
