Patric flashed up from his seat on the floor next to the fireplace, and suddenly he had Ella in his arms, kissing her. He had said he loved her- would she believe him? It was the truth, after all.

Ella smiled and kissed him back. Milo was gone and he wasn't coming back. She wrapped her arms around his neck.

Patric pulled away after a few seconds and grinned at Ella, then turned to the bed. "I don't believe I've showed you my masterpiece of art!" he annouced quietly, throwing back the sheet to reveal the face and mustache.

Ella laughed. "I've never seen anything more beautiful." she said. "I mine the delicate strokes of the charcoal on pillow could have only been done by a true artist." she said.

Patric laughed and hugged Ella, around the shoulders, more in a friendly way than anything. He flicked a bit of galley dust from her shoulder and said, "Let's get out of here before Alexa finds out we've escaped. You raise the flag; I'll get to the helm and turn towards the nearest port. He pulled a compass from his pocket and glanced at it. "Which should be Port Yonder, if I'm not mistaken."

Patric saw a pigeon swoop down and land on the railing outside. It cocked its head slightly to the left, then squawked loudly and flew at him. "Shut up shut up shut up!" he hissed at it, grabbing the bird and tearing the note off of its leg. He ripped it to shreds without reading it and, assuming it was from Liza, scribbled in her handwriting on a new sheet of paper, "Pull in to Port Yonder. We're already there and waiting." Then he tied it to the bird and said, "Find Alexa." It flapped into the galley and screeched at the girl.
