Standing in the corner, Starkeeper shut her dark, purplish eyes. She knew what she had to do.
xxThe NightWing snapped open her starry wings and flew roughly the height of Wrethen, but not too near the ancient hybrid. She curled her dark tail tight in her nervousness, feeling the spikes on her tail dig into her scales. Her white-dotted tail unfurled she took a deep breath, quickly calculating.
xxWith that, Starkeeper tucked in her wings and little and let gravity take her to the stone ground. Even with her calculations, she still tensed, bracing for impact. She let out a roar, spreading her starry wings in front of Foreseer. Starkeeper had knocked the other dragons away from the NightWing queen, wanting it to be a one on one. "You were never my queen," Starkeeper hissed harshly, talons trying to dig into the stone floor of the somewhat destroyed cave. "Never."
xxStarkeeper lunged forward to Queen Foreseer's neck, dark talons outstretched. A perfect aim.
    xxThe final blow.

foreseer | nightwing | tags: everyone

what foreseer felt were talons tearing across her throat.

the queen had turned when starkeeper had barreled towards her, standing regally and opening her maw, perhaps to slide in a snarky remark; but she was met with what felt like knives ripping through her scales, pouring out her life onto the damp, bloodstained, sand-dirt shore. foreseer staggered back, eyes wide, with a stricken look on her face as it twisted into mixed emotions - rage, shock, confusion.. fear. slowly her talons reached up to clutch her throat, as blood streamed from a wide, jagged tear. again she opened her mouth, but nothing came out except dark red blood.

convulsing, foreseer collapsed to the ground, still clutching her throat as her snake-like eyes were wide in agony. she knew she would die. there was no way for the wound to heal in time, or for her healers to get down from the fortress to the shore. except a certain animus-touched gem.. but pharaoh was too far away, dealing with snowstorm and wrethen.

the queen twitched violently, the sand turning deep red around her neck. slowly, she turned her eyes to starkeeper, filling with hatred. "you ungrateful- i'll kill- i'll get you and your broth-" she rasped, hacking up blood. her gaze turned to wrethen, her talons clawing the stained sand. "wrethen.. help- help me-" but foreseer knew that there was no hope. intense pain was pulsing through her scales, and her internal arteries were split wide open. with a last twitch, the mighty nightwing's head rolled, her gold eyes still wide, and her body didn't again move.

            the queen was dead.

snowstorm | icewing | tags: everyone

the icewing paused as pharaoh begged, eyes turning hard, yet in her mind she hit a wall of sympathy. "pharaoh," she said slowly, quietly. "let me use it this once to keep him back, and after we escape, i say this: i vow never to use my magic again, not for any circumstances, to keep me, you, and the rest safe." taking a serrated talon, snowstorm held out her right palm, and slowly sliced a thin, long trail across it. a bit overdramatic, but it told pharaoh she would keep her oath for the rest of her life.

but snowstorm was shocked into stunned silence as her blue gaze turned to foreseer, seeing the small form of starkeeper, her friend, slice open the neck of the mighty nightwing queen. the unstoppable menace, who had been taking over pyrrhia, kingdom by kingdom. and she was dead, her blood pouring out, at starkeeper's talons.

part of snowstorm roared that it should have been her, her own claws killing foreseer. but the rest knew it was the right thing to do, to let star kill her herself. then a wall of emotions hit the icewing; relief, anxiety for the future, shock.. a sense of freedom. starkeeper had freed pyrrhia, and the nightwings.

pathfinder | nightwing | tags: everyone

pathfinder was standing in silence as he watched the scene unfold. his sister lunging forward; the queen turning around as her throat was ripped open; foreseer falling to the ground in her own blood. the thrice-moon born dragonet, now free of his queen, didn't know what to do, now that he had no-one to answer to, no-one to spy for and learn from.

slowly pathfinder walked forward, eyes locked on the queen, to stand beside his sister, starkeeper. "...you did it," he breathed. "you killed her." star.. that was.. amazing, for lack of a better term. you saved pyrrhia. he lifted his head to watch the circling black dragons overhead that were beginning to appear, gawking at the sight of their leader, lying dead before them. bursts of emotion flooded through their thoughts, of rage, confusion, fear, even indecisiveness. pathfinder stepped closer to starkeeper, brushing her wing with his. he couldn't help the thought; what do we do now?

Hope stared as Starkeeper killed the NightWing queen. Gone. The dragon who had taken over kingdoms and killed for her own benefit had been killed. By Starkeeper, her friend.

Terra looked over at Starkeeper. "What about him?" She gestured to Wrethen with her long brown tail.

☠ WRETHEN ☠
Mud/Sand/Sky/Sea/Rain/Ice/NightWing ☠ Male ☠ Old Legend ☠ Tags- Everyone
Wrethen stopped, his ruby red eyes glittering as he looked down at the dead NightWing queen, his mouth twitched, then his jaws parted and he let out a roar that echoed out across the island, shaking the volcano. He spread his vast wings, beating them once, powerfully, as he rose into the air. He looked down on all of the dragons on the beach, knowing that and exchange could still be made... The only problem being that nobody ever would. It was up to him, now. It was up to him to finish what she had started. Maybe they would meet again... If her soul managed to stay on the overworld, he would be able to hear it if it spoke. That was how ghosts were born. The souls that stayed up here.

He turned away from the crowd of dragons, then, beating his powerful wings once more, soared out over the ocean, back on his way to Pyrrhia, where no dragon stood a chance against him.

Sidewinder watched with her cloudy eye as the queen fell a few feet away from her, dead. Dead. It was almost impossible to fathom that one little thought, after all the chaos the dragon had caused.

But her heart sank when Wrethen fled the scene, on his way back to the mainland. No, the chaos wasn't over. It wouldn't be over for a long time. And she wouldn't be around to see it.

She felt light-headed from bloodloss, and when she tried to raise her talons, even raise her head or raise her tail, she couldn't do it. Her wings flopped lifelessly at her sides, and the shapes of Pharaoh and Snowstorm blurred as she closed her eyes, the slow beating of her heart finally stopping. Wrethen wouldn't be around to make an exchange, but that was what she wanted. She didn't want anyone dying for her. Especially not Pharaoh, who was happy exactly where he was. Snowstorm could take care of him for her.

    That was her last though.

Pharaoh hesitated, then extended his palm and bit down on it gently, tearing it open with his sharper front teeth. He took Snowstorm's talons in his, but noticed that her gaze was no longer trained on him when he met her eyes.

He turned, looking in shock at the still forms of Foreseer and his mother dead on the sand. He felt his heart wrench, shrivel up when he saw the two, his eyes widening in horror. "No... No, no, no, no, NO..." he choked, feeling like a massive tidal wave had just knocked him over. The queen was dead. His MOTHER was dead. And Wrethen was gone, out to seize control of all seven tribes.

He let go of Snowstorm's talons, taking a step forward, his body trembling. Dead. She was dead. He hadn't even known her long, and she was dead. Lifeless. Because of the dragon lying next to her.

Hope limped over to Pharaoh. "She gave her life for us. For you. We can't let her die without a reason."

Vine stood in the cave. He had been watching the dragonets ever since the giant one had showed up and brought the IceWing back to life. Now Queen Foreseer was dead. He took a step forward and tumbled down to the ground. Rocks scratched his scales and he landed with a groan near the dead SandWing.

Starkeeper stood for a moment in shock. Dead. She had killed the queen of he NightWings. "I... I-I did," she stuttered finally.
xxFind and kill Wrethen? she thought to her brother. I know this isn't really too important right now, but... Am I queen? Foreseer didn't have any dragonets.

Terra started to walk in a circle. "What are we going to do? I mean, don't we have to warn all the queens that he's coming and then we stop him? Why is being in the prophecy so stressful and hard?" She blurted out, like she did when she was worried or stressed, or both.

snowstorm | icewing | tags: everyone

snowstorm watched in silence as pharaoh stepped toward his dead mother, hitting a wall of sympathy. she knew he hadn't known her long - maybe since they had gotten to the island, a little later - but she could tell it hit pharaoh like stone. sweeping her blue gaze around the shore, snowstorm walked toward foreseer's body, quietly picked up her circlet from her forehead, and turned to the black dragons beginning to land to watch the dragonets, wrethen flying off, and the dead body of the queen. she knew what she had to do.

"nightwings. your queen is dead. the war is over. foreseer's reign over the three kingdoms is over," snowstorm announced to the gathered dragons. then, the icewing turned to starkeeper, bowing her head, and held out her talons. the circlet gleamed in the rising sun, gold and silver twisting to connect to a fiery ruby in the center.

"and i proclaim starkeeper as your new queen."

    ---

pathfinder | nightwings | tags: everyone

a murmur rippled through the crowd of black dragons, and pathfinder could only stare in stunned silence at snowstorm, her sister, and the circlet.

woah, pathfinder thought quietly. sis. you're queen now. of all the nightwings. she really made you queen. he found himself standing taller, looking down at himself. was he really a prince? pathfinder could never imagine being royalty. he had gotten tastes of it from being in the palace most of the time, but a real prince! but it didn't matter. what mattered was that his sister, star, was now queen. and wrethen was nearing the mainland, following in foreseer's talonprints and ready to wreck more havoc.

"we need a plan, and fast," pathfinder hissed quietly, staring out at sea, where the vast form of the black hybrid was still visible. "all of you guys can stay at my island. but we also have.. this, now, to add to the mess," he said, gesturing toward the circlet and her becoming leader of a whole tribe. but pathfinder would stick with her towards thick and thin.. no matter the danger.

(( Oops. -Slides in nonchalantly, fading into the background- ))

Rift was laid on the hard stone inside the cave by Torrent. His breathing was ragged, and he thought he had a few broken ribs. The time passed in a blur; he couldn't even conclude if Torrent was there anymore. Then something happened that he definitely did notice. Despite himself he felt a spark of hope. Cautiously he got to his talons and dragged himself to the mouth of the cave with his left foreleg and both his hind ones. His right leg was scuffing limply on the ground, and he felt a brief flash of panic that it wouldn't ever work again.
The monster of a dragon had freed himself and was now flying off toward the mainland. Rift didn't really care. His eyes were fixed on the other monumental scene: the death of the queens. Although not close, he could tell what was going on, for the most part. Snowstorm had taken something from the crumpled dark shape. She then shouted something with authority and finality, although Rift couldn't tell what it was. Oh well. I'm going to die here. They seem to be faring well without me. Then he remembered Torrent, and all she had done to try to save him from both misery and death. Maybe she's my soulmate, he thought wearily with a twitch at the corner of his mouth that meant he was amused. Then he collapsed at the front of the cave and fell unconscious.

torrent | seawing | tags: everyone

torrent had watched the events unfold, shocked, but stayed by rift's side the entire time to help him. foreseer was just.. gone. like that. killed by the nightwing. and now she was queen. torrent turned to the other seawing, opening her mouth to say something, but instead cried "rift!" as he fell unconscious. quickly she crouched by his side, lowered her head and shoulder, heaved him up. "he needs help!" torrent called to the other dragonets, laying rift on some wet moss outside the cave. she couldn't believe they had forgotten about one of own. but he'll be alright. pharaoh has that healing-necklace-thing they were fussing over. torrent laid by the unconscious rift, concerned blue eyes taking in the severity of his wounds.
