history
like most purebred border collies, ramona was born on a quaint little farm in the countryside. it was one of the only remaining farms in the west since the earthquake. of the whole litter, she proved the least promising skill-wise. during teaching lessons, she remained detached, interested in things other than herding. her mind was more advanced than her siblings', admittedly, but this came with more consequences than advantages. to both her parents and the family of the farm, she was a disappointment. when forced to herd sheep, she was always too gentle and never forceful enough—she couldn't have even herded a hen if she tried. while her siblings strived, she struggled to be acknowledged; she became the farm pet as an alternative, laying at the feet of her owners on a day-to-day basis as her parents and siblings fulfilled themselves with outside duties.
tired of a dull, distasteful life, ramona fled. she felt remorse, but found ways to justify it; the farm's income was less than substantial, and talk of a move spread like a wildfire through the farm. there was no need to stay, and so she traveled until she reached the rumored dog pack territories in new york.
