oop I never post here but I want to do something before I go to sleep so! ignore me this is probs going to be long
I finally cleaned up my Secret Character Thread (well, somewhat), & now I just have to develop my babes so I don't disgrace the squid name.
Question, what do you think of bear species? I may make one. But it'll be unique!for what it's worth I'm always on board with species that aren't canine or feline [finger guns] not that those are bad necessarily, but something new[er] is nice
Those of you doing the secret santa event right now, are you mostly drawing the art yourself or ordering art from other people?mine is pretty 50/50 right now I think! But once I stop focusing on getting fullbodies done & ordered I'll probably do a bunch of headshots and sketch sheets so
is it ever too late to mention owed art to someone?haha it's probably too late to answer this question but!! if you paid/traded them already, then no, you should definitely remind them. be understanding because you can't know what's happened in the meantime, but if the art's worth any stress the process might cause you, definitely ask. I... definitely owe some stuff to people from back when I made even poorer life decisions, and a reminder would no doubt stoke my motivation to clean up my mess.
Do you prefer realistic or unnatural characters / lifestyles?I really like that urban fantasy ideal of characters with unnatural traits living really normal, or at least really realistic, lives, with loads of examination of the extent of the changes their unnatural traits necessitate. I like to be able to think of my characters blending in fairly well in an apartment block in a big city, but I also really like powers and weird/surreal stuff, so :0 unnatural characters, realistic lifestyles?
Do you have a character that's famous in their universe/story? Why are they known?Serenity is not so much famous as dreaded, in the 'scary story to tell children' way.
Cinomihr is probably similarly notorious in some places, though stories of her probably have less respect and more vitriol.
Amphitryon becomes pretty well known in the spirit world.
Coolkid is a gosh darn rock star
Have you ever owned an OC that was a more "mental" relationship? IE: you think of them day to day more than do tangible things?did you mean: every oc I own
yeah I mean,, once I've thought through a little scenario/backstory with them then I don't really see the point/have the motivation to write it down or illustrate it or anything, so mental it remains.
Pick out five OCs!picked via list randomiser bc I love pain
1) Amphitryon
2) Tlaloc
3) Siofra
4) Orrin (Eztiaf)
5) Alex (Ribbit)
4 is rooming with 1 at college! What are they like as room mates? They'd probably get along pretty well, stay out of each others' way. Orrin would probably be increasingly perplexed at how Amphi kept acting like she was totally into relaxing all day like him but obviously got more and more antsy the longer she went without action. He probably wouldn't bother to point this out, but it would definitely irritate Amphi if he did, for reasons she wouldn't quite be able to articulate. Other than that: fine.
3 is having trouble in class and seeks out 5 for help. How does this studying go down, does it help?Aww, they'd be adorable hardworking pastel friends. Alex is definitely more hardworking and perfectionist than Siofra, but she can enjoy the subject a little more (while he just views it as work), and is driven to succeed so her family will be happy. It might be a bit stilted since they're both rather quiet, but it'd definitely help Siofra's work (if not her anxiety levels), and might even get Alex to loosen up a bit.
2 is invited to a party in one of the dorms! How do they feel about it?Probably pretty good. Tlaloc likes being in good company, and isn't averse to a few beers in said company. If he doesn't like the company so much... well, there's always the beer. It would be discourteous to decline without a genuine reason, anyway.
Look at each of the five characters you picked. How does each tend to spend their time day to day at college?1. Amphi - doing work with more outward expression of stress than is strictly necessary, trying not to get pulled into mediating others' disputes, failing, dyeing silk and playing video games when she gets the chance to relax
2. Tlaloc - everyone probably assumes he's a stoner bc he just sits around and doesn't say much. maybe they're right? actually pretty popular, for some reason. goes to the classes that interest him and that he needs to go to to get a decent grade.
3. Siofra - work, wearing flower crowns, volunteering, skyping her family frequently.
4. Orrin - just lazing around and memeing, sometimes with pals but usually on his own. He's really content and relaxed probably 90% of the time
5. Alex - stressing, doing stuff for groups within college (painting the set for drama club, designing departmental christmas cards, whatever), drinking coffee, avoiding marshmallows, stressing
Have you ever had a "napkin sketch" character that just one day hit you?the characters I've designed at school, though they're not so much characters as they are abstract concepts. Deities, maybe? Wandering spirits? They're not really enough like people to have personalities, I feel. For those I usually have to sit down and sketch stuff out
Have any peculiar ways in which you pick names, develop personality, etc?behindthename.com is a life saver. I search by theme or meaning, or look up mythology stuff if I'm feeling particularly inspired. For personality I just make stuff up, go with my instinct ;_; it's probably obvious. I kind of dislike pinning a character down because it feels like cutting off possibilities, but I guess it's sort of necessary for some things.
pick 4 characters:(randomised again, with repeats filtered out)
1: Ælfwin
2: František
3: Mikhail Hai
4: Radar
Which one wants to go to the beach?Ælfwin would like it if it was evening and therefore hopefully empty, plus: lovely evening view! František's really the only one of them who might actually like the beach crowds, though they aren't the most helpful painting subjects.
Who would buy and light off fireworks?František's more likely to buy them, but Radar's more likely to enjoy them, so... shrugs.
#2 is mad at #3, why?He keeps critiquing his paintings for being too messy or unbalanced composition-wise, or tidying up/making pointed comments about his paints and brushes. They /are/ organised, just not in a 'tidy' way!
and now a question of my own:
- Code: Select all
How many of your characters interact with or live in the same world as each other?
