Allena -

Nikolai has always looked up to Allena, his role model through and through. Nikolai's tendency to speak what pops in his head before thinking it through tends to get him into trouble. It is Allena whom he goes to for comfort. Though she'll discipline him as a mother should, she does it in the gentle, understanding manner that Niko needs. Of all of his parents, Niko feels like Allena understands him the most.

Sebastian -

With his unfiltered manner of speaking, Nikolai gets into arguments with Sebastian often. Niko won't hesitate to do things such as point out small mistakes that Sebastian commits in his presence. The two, over the course of Niko's childhood, develop a strained relationship, fraught with arguments and anger. They fall into a habit of Niko offending Sebastian somehow, then running to Allena for comfort when Sebastian inevitably reacts. Niko eventually comes to fear igniting Sebastian's short temper.
As Niko grows older and matures, he forms an admiration for Sebastian's apparent sturdiness, looking up to his father for his strength. The two share a love of shiny objects.

Macintosh -

Macintosh is Nikolai's favorite parent. Her sweet nature and seemingly endless patience leads to Niko feeling as if he can get away with the most around her. Niko can blurt things out around her that Sebastian or Allena would doll out a punishment for and at most get a soft admonishment. During Niko's youngest years, Macintosh is the parent that he likes to drag out to the park and spend the day with. When Niko gets older, he usually goes to Macintosh to ask for permissions, as she is the most likely parent to say yes.

Fenris -

Growing up, Nikolai preferred to follow Fenris around. Fenris made the decisions and came up with plans, Nikolai executed them. Together they made quite a team, getting into enough mischief to drive their parents nuts. Nikolai has always been envious of his brother's size, large and strong like Sebastian. Niko, insecure about his lack of stature and perceived inferiority, comes to drift apart from Fenris until Fenris' sudden disappearance.
It isn't until he matures more with adulthood that he will attempt to rekindle their once-close relationship.

Sedona -

Nikolai enjoys Sedona's company the most of his siblings. He finds Sedona's energy contagious, drawing positivity from most interactions with her. Nikolai considers her a trustworthy confidant simply because he likes her so much.

Caelia -

Caelia and Nikolai have been at odds since they learned to talk. Niko, unable to handle criticism and teasing, becomes an easy target for Caelia's jests. The two argue and aim pointed jokes at each other, occasionally going too far. During such instances, Caelia, knowing that he's gone too far, will comfort and apologize to Niko. Caelia's ability to recognize when things have reached a breaking point is what sets him out from the rest in Niko's eyes. Niko prefers Caelia's company over his other siblings because the two can keep up with each other. Caelia's teasing is enough to keep Niko, who gets bored with others easily, entertained.

Angelo -

Nikolai does not like Angelo very much, finding the quiet boy boring. When Niko's parents task him with keeping an eye on Angelo, babysitting him, Niko always rolls his eyes, finding interaction with Angelo to be a chore. It's no fun to talk to someone who doesn't talk back. Additionally, Angelo's sickly, reserved nature makes him an easy target for Niko's frustrations. Niko has the unfortunate tendency to lash out and take his feelings out on Angelo when the circumstance arises.
In his older years, Niko regrets the unfair way he treated Angelo as a child and desires to make amends.

Nikolai, in an odd twist of events, comes to follow in his father's adventurer footsteps.
When an antique shop announces that it will be closing, Niko goes in search of the shiniest
jewelry he can get his hands on for his personal collection. Instead, after getting lost and
turned around in the deepest of storage rooms, he stumbles upon a map.


The map lands in his storage box. It isn't until a few years later, when it's time for him to
finally leave his parents' home, that the map resurfaces. With nothing to lose, Niko packs
up his things and sets out on an unplanned journey.
