kyha and I are still working out ownership vuv
I also had an idea to propose to all owners. I was thinking of howling's "tail club" lines and debating whether or not to get a color in for Kennedy when I was struck with inspiration to write a novella about viscets. I have no idea if it'll actually go anywhere, but here's the basic rundown:
The setting is the mid-late 1700s. Think royalty and monarchies, with an established government similar to the old English parliament. Viscets are the dominant reigning sentient species on earth, and there's a caste system in place, all based on mutations and bloodlines. As the viscet species evolved and mutations became more commonplace, those without mutations were seen as lesser and unworthy of the same privileges given to those with mutations. Thus the castes slowly began to form until one of their kings declared the caste system as official. The rankings go as follows(these aren't official names for the castes yet, they're just titles so you know which is which):
Outcasts: Those who rebel openly against the system and escaped punishment. They are scattered around the kingdom, several of them choosing to brave the wilderness outside the kingdom's grounds. Comprise a very small number of the king's subjects.
Bottom Caste: Your average viscet. No mutations. Comprise the majority of the king's subjects.
Lower Caste: Those with a single minor or common mutation. Comprise a great deal of the king's subjects.
Middle Caste: Those with a few common mutations or one or two uncommon mutations. This is a little more of a grey area as this is where bloodlines start to play in. Comprise a medium-sized portion of the king's subjects.
Upper/Higher Caste: Those with several mutations, more uncommon mutations, and a few rare mutations that don't include tail mutations. Much more weight upon bloodlines as well. Comprise a small percentage of the king's subjects.
Lesser Royalty: Those with legendary mutations or several rare mutations that don't include tail mutations. They often hold positions of minor to medium importance and are most commonly found in the capital of the realm, frequently living and working inside the palace/castle itself. Comprise a very small number of the king's subjects.
Left- and Right-Hand Royalty: Those with leopard and fox tail mutations along with any other number of mutations. They often hold high military positions and positions of high importance in the palace/castle, and they live in close conduct with the king and his circle. Comprise a tiny sliver of the king's subjects.
Ruling/Reigning Royalty: Those who are either born into royalty or possess the docked tail mutation. Only those with the correct bloodlines can assume the throne, but those who acquired the mutation by chance or through a slightly lesser bloodline are often dukes, counts, and the like, possessing power over small- to medium-sized patches of land. Some head cities and a couple are top military personas.
What I'm thinking is that Kennedy, my leopard-tailed girl, is a warrior/soldier-in-training who is sent on a mission to the lower/poorer castes and gets a first taste of what life is like for the "unlucky". She realizes how screwed up their government is and sets out to stop it. If this does become a thing, I'd come up with a cast and ask for plenty of viscets from other people, particularly a couple viscets that I have in mind. I'm pretty excited for this because it's rare that I get any good writing ideas, and while this is
technically just an elaborate fanfiction, I'd love to write it nonetheless. Please tell me whatchy'all think and shoot me a PM if you have any questions or the like c:
I know it's really pretty generic for a fic set in the 1700s, but I really like it and am hoping to take it somewhere. Feedback on the idea would help me decide if I should dedicate any time to it :>
Thanks for reading my novel of a post lel
