Briarkit didn't wake at his mother's touch. His dream was so vivid; he felt undergrowth brush his pelt and smelled a putrid, rank stench in the air around him.

Dewdrop shrugged. "I dunno, a while." He wasn't like other apprentices that were dying to be warriors, he was rather simple and wanted to savor being an apprentice, so he didn't notice the time before he was made one. "Why? You worried?"

Patchpaw shrugged, though worry was clear on his face. "I'm not sure...when I was younger, the thing I dreaded the most was becoming an apprentice. But, now I'm dreading being an apprentice for too long... What if I end up having my warrior ceremony when I'm, like, 70 moons old? My life will be half over!"
