Kitewhisker paced nervously around the den. “Their borders are getting closer, Weaselstar.” She murmured. “I know.” he muttered. “Their scent is growing stronger.” The leader worked his claws into the dirt patches that peaked through the cracked floor. “I know.” He repeated, strain tight in his voice “They promised. Caesar said he would respect the borders.” The deputy lashed her tail. “Well he’s obviously not.” She scoffed “Weaslestar, you’re an insanely trusting tom, which is not a bad thing. But when it comes to strange groups of cats, you can’t always take their word at face value. Especially when we have to ex-group members of theirs who have only negative things to say about it!” The leader furrowed his brow. “I-I guess we should increase patrols around that area.” He sighed “But make sure no cat initiates any form of contact, you understand?” He looked outside and saw Swankit tumble with Newtpaw, who had just returned from his territory tour. The leader gave a sad smile and shook his head. “I don’t want to cause trouble.” He said firmly “But I will do what’s necessary to protect my Clan.”

Riversnap ran her claws through the mud. “I need you to stop.” She said sternly “Droserathorn doesn’t need you messing around him. He has a lot on his mind. Not to mention, he is my mate.” Smallsika gave a sly grin. “He’s not a very good mate, then.” She chuckled harshly, walking up to her. “Because he hasn’t told me to stop.” Giving a high-pitched giggle she started to walk away. “I just don’t see the harm really. I like getting what I want. And I want to have fun with Droserathorn.” She walked away, swinging her hips. Riversnap blinked in surprise. She felt tears pricked her eyes and her claws strained against the ground. Whirling around, she slashed at the nearest tombstone and let out a loud his. She was shaking with rage. How dare she. How could he. He was hers, and she would defend him to her last breath. But now there was a doubt in her mind about if he would do the same.

Oleanderpaw’s eyes were glistening. “Seedpaw, you have no idea!” She said in awe “There are so many herbs! Some even have multiple uses. Not to mention I’m going to communicate with dead people. Isn’t that weird?” Seedpaw chuckled at her sister. “I bet it is going to take a lot of dedication and effort, but I know you’ll do great!” She purred. Newtpaw scoffed jokingly. “Oleanderpaw, you can’t even remember what you had for a meal yesterday.” He purred. Oleanderpaw flattened her ears and smirked mischievously at her brother. “Shut up.” She mewed, cuffing him gently over the ear. Suddenly, a voice called the young she-cat. Looking up, Oleanderpaw saw Smallsika beckoning her over. The shaman apprentice rolled her eyes. “Guess the witch wants to speak.” She muttered to Newtpaw, before rising to her paws and plastering on a semi-pleasant expression as she approached the warrior.

Smallsika curled her tail over her back as the young apprentice approached. “What.” Oleanderpaw huffed. The white she-cat tilted her head and frowned. “Why so blunt?” She whined “Anyways, I was wondering where your father is. Isn’t Droserathorn your mentor now?” The apprentice took a deep breath and flicked an ear. “Probably avoiding you.” She said simply “He doesn’t like to hang around cats with mush for brains.” Oleanderpaw gave a mockingly sweet smile and lashed her tail. Smallsika gasped. “Young lady!” She hissed gently “Why are you being so rude to me?” Oleanderpaw’s expression grew serious as she took a threatening step towards the cat she despised. “You’re trying to replace my mother.” She snarled quietly “And I’m not too fond of foxhearts messing with my family.” With that, she spun on her heels and twacked the she-cat with a lash of her tail before confidently strutting across the camp, leaving Smallsika bitterly looking after her.

Bluemask grumbled at his uncle. “Cubsnarl.” He said sharply “You were so excited and flirty with her when you were strangers. How can you be afraid now that you’re friends.” The fluffy tom bristled. “Because she’s my friend!” Cubsnarl hissed “What if she rejects me? She is my everything. I can’t lose her.” Bluemask blinked. “Wow. Thanks so much, uncle that kinda hurts. But you see why you need to tell her? You’ve been flirty forever, but I can tell you really care about Kitewhisker. You need to give it a shot.” Cubsnarl looked narrowly at the young warrior. Bluemask gave him a gentle nudge and the brown tom rolled his eyes. He walked nervously up to where the deputy was lounging in the sun. He reached her and puffed out his chest. He took a deep breath and swallowed. “Listen, I’m not good at explaining how I feel, so I’ll just come out and say it.” Cubsnarl meowed “I love you. You’re amazing and you don’t know how much you mean to me. Would you maybe want to be my mate?” He held his breath as Kitewhisker processed. A small smile crept to her muzzle and she tilted her head slightly. “Okay.” She said sweetly “I’d love to be your mate.” Cubsnarl’s eyes widened in surprise. “Y-You would?” KItewhisker giggled and got to her paws. “Cubsnarl, you know me. I’m not one for emotions. But the way I feel for you is so different from anyone else. I want to build a family with you, because I love you too.” She leaned in to him and the two nuzzled affectionately. In the background, Bluemask smirked. He always knew what Cubsnarl wanted, even if the large tom didn’t. They had been traveling together since Bluemask was young, and he was like a brother to him. The young tom nodded happily, and left the new mates to themselves.

Flintclan is located in an old, abandoned mine left by the twolegs in Utah. There, the nights are pitch black and the air, always cold. Flintclan camp seems a bit crowded, considering the fact that it’s location is *in* the mine, but it’s bigger than you think. The long tunnel leads to multiple other tunnels like an ant colony. There are abandoned minecarts and some open spaces where most of the clan hang out and share tongues. Some spaces are reserved for queens, elders, and medicine cats. Alongside the mine walls, mossy beds are placed. The warriors and apprentices rest there. Then there’s the Fallen Cart. Where the leader makes announcements and, also, is their resting place.

The territory is slowly growing each time it’s explored. The forest reaches for miles and miles. Which is good because it means that squirrels and rabbits roam around. This is where the clan hunts. The Hunting Grounds. Flintclan must be careful when they hunt in the Hunting Grounds because foxes are also common there. They usually come around during the leaf-fall. Prey is plentiful there but, not as plentiful in the Shrew Hill. Shrew Hill is where the shrews burrow, and so it is a haven for when there’s a food shortage. One of the important places in Flintclan is the Light Lake. Without the lake, it would be a bit harder to find water. Patrols occasionally check the lake for minnows to bring back to camp.

Flintclan camp is also expanding daily. In a patrol, they are assigned to find tunnels that have been blocked off by piles of dirt and rocks. Once they find an undiscovered tunnel, they will have to dig the tunnel out till there is enough room for at least three nests. If the tunnel seems impossible to dig open or if the warriors are struggling to dig the tunnel, the leader will call off the patrol and they’ll find a different tunnel in the next patrol. The warriors and apprentices work together on the tunnels for two patrols each moon. Cave in’s are rare but the clan still keeps their guard up.

When an apprentice becomes a warrior, the leader and their mentor take the apprentice to the Lucid Stump. The leader will have the apprentice cross the water to the Lucid Stump on their own. Once they make it across, they have to reach the tree and climb it to the top and bring something valuable down. Like a mushroom, a feather, a bug, etc. It has to be something other than leaves and bark. If they succeed, the leader and their mentor will ask Starclan to guide the young warrior. After that, the leader will give the apprentice their name. The apprentice and mentor do have the option to request a name. The name suggestion can only be declined or accepted by the leader. If they fail to either cross the water, climb the tree, or find a valuable item, they fail the task and take the test again after another moon. That is, unless they didn’t make it through the test.


Nothing is more valuable to Flintclan than Starclan. In hard times, they always look up to Starclan for guidance. When a leader or medicine cat goes to share tongues with Starclan, they visit the Lucid Stump. A tree that holds many glowing mushrooms. Some say that when the clan has a new leader, the mushrooms glow as bright as the sun, lighting their way to the tree. And when the mushrooms don’t glow or are dim, it shows a bad omen.

Flintclan is known for their generosity and fairness. They are strict about the code but, depending on the situation if a clan member defies the code, the leader will most likely give them a minor punishment. The leader could exile the clan member, if they feel their choices were unjust. As for physical properties, Flintclan cats are very strong and their pelts are usually dirty or messy. This does not mean they are not clean or disorganized, they just work a lot. Flintclan cats are usually thin furred but cats with thicker coats are not uncommon.

FLINTCLAN

Flintclan is located in an old, abandoned mine left by the twolegs in Utah. There, the nights are pitch black and the air, always cold. Flintclan camp seems a bit crowded, considering the fact that it’s location is *in* the mine, but it’s bigger than you think. The long tunnel leads to multiple other tunnels like an ant colony. There are abandoned minecarts and some open spaces where most of the clan hang out and share tongues. Some spaces are reserved for queens, elders, and medicine cats. Alongside the mine walls, mossy beds are placed. The warriors and apprentices rest there. Then there’s the Fallen Cart. Where the leader makes announcements and, also, is their resting place.

The territory is slowly growing each time it’s explored. The forest reaches for miles and miles. Which is good because it means that squirrels and rabbits roam around. This is where the clan hunts. The Hunting Grounds. Flintclan must be careful when they hunt in the Hunting Grounds because foxes are also common there. They usually come around during the leaf-fall. Prey is plentiful there but, not as plentiful in the Shrew Hill. Shrew Hill is where the shrews burrow, and so it is a haven for when there’s a food shortage. One of the important places in Flintclan is the Light Lake. Without the lake, it would be a bit harder to find water. Patrols occasionally check the lake for minnows to bring back to camp.

Flintclan camp is also expanding daily. In a patrol, they are assigned to find tunnels that have been blocked off by piles of dirt and rocks. Once they find an undiscovered tunnel, they will have to dig the tunnel out till there is enough room for at least three nests. If the tunnel seems impossible to dig open or if the warriors are struggling to dig the tunnel, the leader will call off the patrol and they’ll find a different tunnel in the next patrol. The warriors and apprentices work together on the tunnels for two patrols each moon. Cave in’s are rare but the clan still keeps their guard up.

When an apprentice becomes a warrior, the leader and their mentor take the apprentice to the Lucid Stump. The leader will have the apprentice cross the water to the Lucid Stump on their own. Once they make it across, they have to reach the tree and climb it to the top and bring something valuable down. Like a mushroom, a feather, a bug, etc. It has to be something other than leaves and bark. If they succeed, the leader and their mentor will ask Starclan to guide the young warrior. After that, the leader will give the apprentice their name. The apprentice and mentor do have the option to request a name. The name suggestion can only be declined or accepted by the leader. If they fail to either cross the water, climb the tree, or find a valuable item, they fail the task and take the test again after another moon. That is, unless they didn’t make it through the test.


Nothing is more valuable to Flintclan than Starclan. In hard times, they always look up to Starclan for guidance. When a leader or medicine cat goes to share tongues with Starclan, they visit the Lucid Stump. A tree that holds many glowing mushrooms. Some say that when the clan has a new leader, the mushrooms glow as bright as the sun, lighting their way to the tree. And when the mushrooms don’t glow or are dim, it shows a bad omen.

Flintclan is known for their generosity and fairness. They are strict about the code but, depending on the situation if a clan member defies the code, the leader will most likely give them a minor punishment. The leader could exile the clan member, if they feel their choices were unjust. As for physical properties, Flintclan cats are very strong and their pelts are usually dirty or messy. This does not mean they are not clean or disorganized, they just work a lot. Flintclan cats are usually thin furred but cats with thicker coats are not uncommon.

Robinstar opened her eyes to find herself in the middle of Aspenclan's camp, just as she had during every other dream at the moonpool. This time was different, however, as she knew it would be. For the first time since his exile, she was standing face-to-face with the large ginger tabby whose face had haunted her conscience. "Brambletooth, I'm so sorry," she whispered, unable to keep the tears from coming.

"I understand," he answered softly, his voice low and his eyes clouded with pain.

Robinstar stepped back and looked around at the handful of cats that had started to gather around her. Her heart ached at the sight of Cricketleap and Speckledpaw sitting together. "I should have known," the leader muttered, shaking her head with disdain at her own oversight.

"It wasn't your fault, Robinstar," Cricketleap mewed. "None of us knew what Tanglestep was capable of."

"Maybe not at first," Robinstar said bitterly. "But it kept happening again and again . . ."

"Hey," Brambletooth interrupted softly. "You can't change the past. There's no point in trying. It's time to start looking forward. You have to exile Tanglestep." Robinstar nodded solemnly, eyes trained on the ground, but looked up quickly at the former deputy's final words.

"I can't," she stammered.

Brambletooth blinked as his eyes narrowed in confusion. "What do you mean?"

Robinstar swallowed, but it did nothing to clear the knot in her throat. "He's going to kill me. I know he will. I can't confront him," she rattled on.

"Robinstar, if you do nothing, he will kill you," Brambletooth said darkly.

The leader shot him a crazed look, one that had become all too familiar to the red tabby during his final moons. "Stop it! Don't say that!" she snapped. Brambletooth opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted before he could even begin. "That's enough. I don't need you threatening me," she hissed and squeezed her eyes shut.

When she opened them, she found herself at the moonpool, scowling fiercely at her own reflection. Fear crept into her mind as she remembered what happened the last time she ignored Starclan's warnings, but she pushed the feelings away before they could sink in.
Everything was going to be fine.

Pipitkit watched as Cloudmask gingerly plucked six feathers from a robin. He fidgeted impatiently, kneading the soft nest beneath his paws. "Are your brothers awake?" the queen asked, peering toward where Sparrowkit and Finchkit were curled up together.

"I'm up," Sparrowkit yawned, rolling on top of Finchkit as he stretched.

"Please be careful," Cloudmask laughed. Behind her, a dark face appeared in the nursery entrance, casting a shadow over the queen and her kits. The calico queen turned, and a smile broke across her face. "Tanglestep! Did you come to see the kits?" Cloudmask moved over to make room for her made in the already crowded nursery.

"I can eat outside," Pinetail decided. Tanglestep watched indifferently as she picked up the vole she had been eating and padded past the deputy, Jasperlight following close behind.

With a touch of reluctance, the tabby tom sat down beside his mate, eyeing the three kittens. The brown and white ones were his, and he even knew their names, which he was rather proud of. The only question was where the curly-furred kit had come from. The deputy's eyes narrowed.

Cloudmask watched over Finchkit as he finally stood up and walked shakily to the robin. The queen picked up the feathers and gingerly tucked one behind each kit's ear while they ate. As she affixed the three remaining feathers to her own chain of catkins, she spoke quietly to Tanglestep. "It's a little late for Pipitkit to be having his first fresh-kill, but I think it's really important that he doesn't feel left out just because he's adopted," she explained in a soft murmur. Her mate nodded as the understanding set in. "I am a little worried about Finchkit, though," she continued. "He's not quite as strong as Sparrowkit. I hope he isn't falling behind."

Tanglestep licked Cloudmask's ear comfortingly. "Don't worry about that," he purred. He refused to have a weak son. One way or another, he would fix that problem for good.
