WEATHER !!

GREENLEAF || The heat is nearly unbearable in some places, yet it is also welcome and comforting in others. The sun stays in the sky for longer than any portion of the year, and most creatures are active at dusk and dawn. Kittings come easier, and prey is easier to find. However, twolegs lurk in the shadows as they encroach upon the territory of the Clans. Perhaps some cats, desperate for water, linger upon your borders. In any case, this is a season which provides more happiness than sorrow.

• Petalpaw spends the walk back to camp jumping after insects in the air, paws closing on empty air before plummeting back to the ground with each leap. Thicketeyes let out a shriek of warning as he saw where his recruit was going to land, but was helpless as a twoleg contraption lunged up to meet around Petalpaw's leg in a vicious snap. The recruit let out a scream of agony, collapsing to the ground and turning to look at her mentor. Knowing the danger of traps in the wood, Thicketeyes was able to use a stick to pry Petalpaw's leg free. He let his recruit lean against him as they made slow progress to camp, collapsing just inside the entrance of the camp. Quickwillow quickly arrived to assess the damage, delivering the news that Petalpaw will need 2 moons of rest, 1 raspberry leaf, 1 stinging nettle, and 1 lamb's ear. The soothsayer is also able to tell that Petalpaw will walk with a permanent limp on her rear right leg.

season: greenleaf / summer
the territories are in full bloom during the hottest time of the year. prey is bountiful during
this time of the year, and herbs can be found in abundance. kittings will be handled smoothly,
and cats are still around who might be in need of a new home. however, predators are also
fond of the warm weather, and cats who overwork themselves may find themselves suffering
from dehydration and exhaustion.

• gecko passed and is ready to be welcomed as the newest full member of steamclan! however, during the fighting portion of the assessment, geckoleaf scraped her shoulder and will need to take x1 moon of rest to ensure the wound doesn't become infected.

• in a tragic turn of events, sorrelgrass lost track of badger while the young tom chased after a shrew, eager to prove that he could successfully feed his clan. by the time sorrelgrass caught up to his eager apprentice, it was to find badger writhing on the ground. it seemed that the apprentice chased the prey too close to a snake's burrow. it was too late, and sorrelgrass collapsed next to badger, urging him to stay awake. but the snake's bite was too much for the small tom, who stared up at their helpless mentor until finally their struggle faded away and it was clear that badger had gone on to join the clan's ancestors in the sky...
• cocoa failed to learn a skill this moon after spraining her leg. though she insisted she could keep going, kria argued that the medicine cats would ensure she healed quickly. sure enough, the strain was minor and cocoa will only need x1 moon of rest to recover.

Newstar sighed and turned to their deputy. "Glassfang, I know you've had a difficult time with the harbor cats in the past, but you should see by now that they are welcome additions to the clan." Glassfang shook her head. "I admit I did have trouble gettin' used to 'em," she said in a low voice. "But that's not what I'm concerned about." She watched for a moment as the two newcomers, Coral and Sailor, spoke with Driftwood and Copperleaf. "I'm concerned," Glassfang said slowly. "That the Admiral will notice if too many of his cats leave the harbor for Saltclan."
A warm breeze fluttered the sailcloth overhead. From what Driftwood had told them, the Admiral's Crew would set out to sea soon and stay there for most of greenleaf. What would happen if the Admiral didn't have enough cats to crew his ships? "Do you think they'd raid us to get their cats back?" asked Newstar. "I wouldn't imagine that'd be effective."
Glassfang looked Newstar in the eye. "Ain't about 'effective'. It's about sending a message - 'Any that leave my crew don't come back alive.'"

Of course that up-jumped molly put me in charge of this hooligan. Driftwood grumbled to herself as Otterstripe pranced ahead, prattling on about stars-knows-what. She noticed they kept their paws just out of the reach of the waves. "Whats'a matter, young'un?" she called. "Water too cold still for you?" Otterstripe briefly stopped to acknowledge her.
