The sound of bird chatter and rustling leaves is all that echoes throughout the trees, a soft symphony of tranquility and calm. Dew sparkles in a ripple against the tips of the grass blades, evaporating into a mist the further the forest stretches on. It’s a sight of something out of a dream.
Laughter and soft hushes interrupt the hush of the woodlands, along with the tromping of heavy feet against the ground. In a clearing sit two cats, shoving at each other with giggles. The tortoiseshell giggles as their paw wipes away the drawings they had made in the dirt while the blue-cream cat's eyes glimmer with a spark of inspiration.
They're only brought off their quiet laughter by the crack of a stick underneath a paw, attention immediately turning. Where some would be worried at the sight of a stranger, they're instantly curious, hopping onto their feet and closer to the newcomer.
"Hi!"
"Hello!"
"Who are you? Where do you come from? What's it like? Oh, tell us everything."

General Rules:
- All writing/art must be your own. No AI, commissioned work, etc. may be used.
- Art/writing may not be reused! If you've already received credit for it (including in another Stars mechanic), you can't receive a reward again.
- Your writing should remain permanently visible/available, to ensure fair play. We'd encourage you to post your responses directly on the thread rather than in an offsite doc/etc.!
- Please don't edit your posts when possible! Results are tallied gradually before being posted together, so edits may be missed. You're welcome to make multiple posts if you're submitting more before results have been posted again!
- We recommend a limit of about 5 prompts per post! This isn't a strict limit, but it helps ease the workload for our staff team and ensure that your prompts are not missed by mistake.
Prompt categories may have category-specific rules too. Be sure to read and follow those as well!
-----
How to Play:
Doodlebug and Bookworm have provided you with lists of prompts below, organized by category! Each category works a little differently and has its own guidelines. Note that as this mechanic expands, more categories will be added!
To play, pick a prompt you'd like to answer. Answering that prompt here and meeting the word/art minimum will reward you with experience and a small bit of stardust. Experience can be redeemed by linking to the results in your next explore post. Results will be posted every so often; please be patient as we learn what schedule will work best!
Prizes:
All provided prompts may be answered as many times as you'd like, so long as you're not reusing art/writing! Answering a new prompt for the first time with a specific Clan/cat, however, will give you better rewards.
Experience: Experience is rewarded at the same rate as the quest board (writing / art). All prompt responses receive experience based on how much you wrote/drew.
Stardust: You receive a small bit of stardust each time you meet the prompt minimum (e.g. writing twice the minimum in one response will get you twice the base stardust, etc.). Stardust rates are posted in each category.
Milestone rewards: Answering multiple prompts in the same category and about the same Clan/cat will gradually unlock category milestone prizes. Generally, every 5 new prompts you answer from a category gives you a smaller bonus reward, and every 10 new prompts gives you a bigger reward. Completing an entire category for the same Clan/cat will unlock a final grand prize! Answering a prompt multiple times with the same Clan/cat won't count towards milestone progress, but will still reward stardust and experience. You'll find specific details about how these prizes work in their respective categories.
Bonus prompts: If there's a prompt you're not vibing with, each category also includes bonus prompts that can count towards your total unique prompts answered! Think of these like extra credit: basically, there are 50 prompts given to you, but you only need to answer 45 of your choice to complete the category. Bonus prompts have higher word/art minimums and are more complex to answer, but their rewards are boosted as well.
Be sure to check out each category's specific info to better understand how their rewards work! Prompt results are posted every so often, and your rewards aren't useable until they're archived.

Doodlebug wrote:CLAN PROMPTS
There are three categories of Clan-based prompts: territory, culture, and [spoiler]. Note: one more Clan category is still unreleased!
Users may have a max of two registered Stars Clans, so milestone rewards for these categories may be redeemed twice -- once for each Clan slot. You do not need to finish your first Clan's prompts before starting on your second's! Be sure to clearly state which Clan you're answering a prompt for, and use the name/link registered in the official archives.
Each category has its own prompt minimums, rewards, etc. listed in its post. Please ask if you have any questions!
FAQ wrote:Q: Can I answer the same prompt for both Clans at once?
A: In order to accurately track your milestone progress, your responses for your two Clans registered on the archives must be separate, and must each individually meet the word/art minimums!
Q: What if I change my lore / revamp a Clan?
A: That is 100% okay! You may re-answer prompts as many times as you'd like with new info. Note that even after a lore revamp, your progress towards Clan prompt milestones will still be saved! This is tied to which Clan you rename / change the link of on the archives. Think of it like your progress is tied to the Clan slot used, rather than the name/lore.
Q: What if I have multiple sub-groups in my Clan?
A: That's alright! You can answer prompts multiple times for each sub-group if you want, or answer for multiple sub-groups in the same response. For archiving and progress-tracking purposes, though, please be sure to include the Clan name and link that are in the official archive. While you can have as many sub-groups and as much lore as you want, you can only complete the Clan milestone tracks twice (once per Clan slot).

95. How has your Clan's culture changed over time? Do they have differences in naming, ceremonies, traditions, etc. compared to the past? It may help to think about how the real world was very different in other time periods and decades compared to today. We treat authority differently; society has a different structure; clothes, art, and music tastes have changed; and people are affected by different real world events. If your Clan is relatively young, how might/will its culture change in the future
Bonus prompts are optional extra credit that count towards your total unique prompts answered! Each of these prompts has a higher word/art minimum and better rewards.
Bonus 1. Culture shock is defined as "the feeling of disorientation experienced by someone who is suddenly subjected to an unfamiliar culture, way of life, or set of attitudes" (Oxford Languages). Aside from the species difference, how might a cat from your Clan struggle with adapting to living in your personal, real-life culture? Think about differences in social cues, beliefs, diet, ideas of what's polite vs. rude, daily schedule, and so on. Minimum 350 words or 25 exp of art. Rewards 30 stardust.
Bonus 2. Describe the Clan founder's intended vision for their new Clan. What did they want the Clan to look and act like when establishing it? How does the present state of the Clan compare to the Clan founder's original vision? Minimum 350 words or 25 exp of art. Rewards 30 stardust.
Bonus 3. What might a culturally rebellious / unusual cat look like? How would their appearance, behavior, and lifestyle change to go against your Clan's average social norms? How might other cats react to them? How tolerant is your Clan of variation from expected norms? Minimum 350 words or 25 exp of art. Rewards 30 stardust.
Bonus 4. Describe your Clan's general cultural view of gender and gender roles. What genders are generally recognized (e.g. are they built off a female/male binary, or do they have a different or unique system?), and how/when are these assigned, chosen, and/or changed? What behaviors, roles, etc. are expected of them? How does this affect family structure, clothing, language, hierarchy and power, inheritance and lineage tracking, ideals and expectations to meet, etc.? How are these expectations taught (e.g. indirectly through social interaction, or directly through parents/guardians, school, and/or the law)? How flexible or rigid is this system? How have gender norms changed throughout your Clan's history? Do they vary by region? Minimum 350 words or 25 exp of art. Rewards 30 stardust.
Need help worldbuilding? It may help to think about variation in other cultures (while keeping cultural appropriation and respect in mind), historical changes over time, and other unique fictional settings.
Bonus 5. Describe anything else unique (and CS appropriate) about your Clan's culture that doesn't fall into any of the above prompts. I've skipped over a lot of potential topics under the assumption that some would be difficult for everyone to answer (often topics that strayed too far from Warriors lore or were too narrow and specific), so if there's any other trivia you want to discuss about your Clan, feel free to share it here! Minimum 500 words or 35 exp of art. Rewards 40 stardust.

Bookworm wrote:GIFTING CHALLENGE
This challenge is designed to give back to the people who helped make Stars what it is today -- our community! To participate, you'll make gift art and/or writing of Stars cats for a variety of community members in return for some rewards!
Please take your time with this challenge - it's not a race! Your entries should be meaningful and display effort/quality, whatever that means for your skill level. The purpose of this challenge is to give back to others, not profit for yourself. If you're found to be breaking the spirit of the challenge, you may lose the privilege to receive prizes.
You can receive prizes for making up to 300 gift points, but there's no need to make that many if you don't feel like it! Prizes are staggered as you reach mini-milestones so your effort is rewarded even if you don't complete the challenge.
Requirements:
- All writing/art must be your own. No AI, commissioned work, etc.
- Art/writing may not be reused! Additionally, all gift art/writing must be done specifically for this challenge (DCAY, random giveaways, competition art, Art Fight, art trades, etc. don't count).
- Art must be at least identifiably colored and lined (or cleanly lineless), and writing must be at least 150 words.
x ↪ You cannot use a base for your art. - Your art/writing should be of a Stars cat owned by the user you're gifting. Please link the cat's Oekaki page or off-Oekaki approval post to verify ownership!
- You may only gift the same user a max of 9 gift points, though this can be split across multiple gifts! Additional points towards the same person won't count towards your progress.
- You must have permission from the cat's owner to draw/write about their cat! A list of users who have granted broad permission to the community to gift their cats is available below, but you can also ask personally and attach a screenshot. If a community member has you blocked or you are otherwise aware they may be uncomfortable receiving a gift from you, please refrain from gifting them.
Points:
Art
Headshot = 1 point
Halfbody = 2 points
Fullbody = 3 points
Additional art add-ons (backgrounds, shading, etc.) do not contribute additional points. Every cat included in a piece will receive the points applicable to how much of them was drawn!
Writing
Every 150 words = 1 point
The total challenge is worth 100 fullbodies or 45,000 words (or a mix / other equivalent!)
Prizes:
You may only redeem the prizes from this challenge once. However, you're always welcome to keep gifting those who allow it! See all item descriptions here and here.
