There is so much to do in this new realm! Between all the other things your champions tackle, there are minor things they can do around the area to help out. Even with a war brewing on the horizon, the city is still running to support its citizen and new visitors.

Here is where you can pick from a few options every day, write 200 words or more/ Or a flat color full-body drawing about what your champion did in response to the prompt that day. You can win prizes to use for HW or VOK, whichever you'd like. These prompts change daily at 8pm EST.

Each prompt can only be completed ONCE. You can have more than one cat/lion be a part of the adventure, but your party must make the same choice.

You do NOT have to consider the prompts and the story of the event as 'canon' in your group's timeline (unless you want to). It is welcome to be a side story/one-off/Alternate Universe.

*all the rewards are based on RNG, which will be rolled in staff chat and recorded. Each choice has the same chances of giving you the same rewards, so pick the one that interests you the most!

You CAN edit your prompt until rollover/when the next prompt is posted. Rewards will be tallied before the store opens.

*writing more than 200 words, or drawing something more complex does not give you anything special, but you are still welcome to do so.

Current Prompt

June 14th

The three stowaways from the army of decay look resigned to being boxed in by hostile life goddess guards. The two lions are hiding further back while the young cat is standing before her friends, her fur all puffed up and bristling. Her dark eyes flash with frustration.

“We’re just tired of all this fighting, alright?! Our whole lives, we haven’t been able to leave the forest. And I bet you’ve spent your whole life fighting us, too! Aren’t you tired of it all? Why can’t we figure something out?! Together! Without these gods that are leaving us to suffer for them!”

You think back to Cormac, to Ekroam and Tederick, and Asa. And think of the cats you haven’t met yet, both here in this city or in the forest. Are any of them really happy? Truly enjoying themselves outside of what their gods tell them to do?

This is the last adventure prompt! To celebrate the end, there is a special twist to this one: there are no options to choose from, you can write about however you want your champions to respond.

If you write 200 words or draw 1 flat colored fullbody, you get 1 roll.
If you write 400 words or draw 1 shaded fullbody with a simple background (1 element that isn't just a flat color), you get 2 rolls.
If you write 600 words or draw 1 shaded fullbody with a complex background (2-3 elements that are shaded as well), you get 3 rolls!

May the odds be in your favor :)

Former prompts

June 5th
Last night after the ambush, an usually strong storm blew through. While the underground city was spared from the damage and debris, the surrounding lands where the skirmish took place are covered in mud puddles, branches, and leaves. The Great Trinity Tree suffered some minor damage. Still, the damage makes the citizens nervous. Your champion wakes up the following morning under the beautiful but alien multi-colored sky and sees one of the small cats working among the thick branches. As you approach, you notice she is a similar color to the tree’s navy leaves and her eyes glow blue like the markings carved into the bark.

“Do you mind helping me reinforce these broken branches? Some of them can still be saved if we take care of them properly.” At your curious look, she continues. “I’m Asa, one of the caretakers of the great tree. Come on up, I’ll show you want to do."

Does your champion:

    A. Assist Asa and follow her example?
MINOR: “You try your best but you’re not as helpful as Asa was hoping you’d be. Still, you did help a little bit and for that, she is grateful.”
MEDIUM: “You help Asa brace the branches and tie thick vines around them. Good work! She enjoyed the time you spent helping her.”
LARGE: “After seeing the important work you and Asa are doing, more felines come to help! Soon the Trinity Tree is looking much better, branches standing tall again.”
    B. Work separately from her, it will go faster.
MINOR: “Eh, you should have paid more attention to Asa’s technique for supporting the broken branches. You don’t do a terrible job, though, so she still rewards you for your help.
MEDIUM: “Hey, you’re not half bad. Asa stays nearby to give you a few points as you work but you’re a fast learner and soon you and Asa are chatting and working in a good rhythm.”
LARGE: “You must have done this before, you’re a pro! You’re working faster than Asa! She is very impressed and sends you off to teach some more cats how to support the branches on the other side of the tree.”
    C. The tree can wait, you need to help prepare for the next attack!
MINOR: “Asa frowns but she understands. You head off, feeling a bit bad about leaving the cat to fix the tree by herself.”
MEDIUM: “You did promise to help prepare for future attacks, but you take some time to find other cats willing to help. Asa gives you a friendly wave with her tail as you head off, leaving her with a few felines standing attentively around her, listening to her instructions.”
LARGE: “Part of the preparations you come up with is using the discarded stone claws from the monsters to put around the Trinity Tree as a barrier. Asa and you work within chatting distance, and you share ideas between each other as you each protect a different part of the tree.”

June 6th
Now that the tree has been tended to by your champion or other felines, your champion tries to go back to their plans— with little success. A scratchy, yowling voice that echoes out of the tunnels and blasts across those close enough to the city entrance.

“You there! Come ‘ere! There is still much work to be done, you young rascals! Thinkin’ you can just keep on walking and ignore the needs of our city!”

The surprising hostility in that voice causes you to pause. When to glance around those around you in disbelief, you can separate the citizens of the tree from the visitors by the rueful smiles on the locals.

“If you can hear me, I’m talkin’ to you! Get your tail and gear and come help! We want no freeloaders, even if you are here to help our Great Goddess.”

The angry face of a greying, old, ragged-looking one-eyed lion pops out of the tunnel entrance and pins you with a death glare. “It’s huntin’ and gatherin’ time. You think the air sustains us?! Get over here!”

Does your champion:
    A. Walk over and offer their assistance?
MINOR: “Yeah, yeah, stop draggin’ your paws. You don’t have to have dinner, ya know!” The old lion snaps at you, and shoves a basket into your mouth when you open it to protect your dignity. “Mushrooms, ya know ‘em? Go get gatherin’!”

It’s a chore but you fill your basket full of large edible mushrooms. The old lion sniffs and takes them from you without a word, but a younger lion gives you something in thanks.

MEDIUM: The old lion wrinkles his nose and looks you over. “I guess you’ll do. Not the worst volunteer I’ve had.” He shows you a hard to interpret map. We got skvader over yonder. Go catch a few, will ya?”

It takes some wandering but eventually you find the area the old lion marked out for you. You’re not used to hunting rabbits that can glide away from you mid-hop but you do bag a couple and return, oddly pleased. The old lion mutters something under his breath but he gestures for you to take something on your way out.

LARGE: As you approach, the old lion looks you over with a glint in his remaining eye. “Ah, tough one, are ya? Well then, let’s see how you handle this!” He gestures for a younger cat to lead you to the rocky lake that is far away from here. When you glance over the cliff’s edge to see the water, you realize he’s sent you to hunt pegasus?!

It’s hard work and it takes most of the afternoon— and a painful whack to the face from a stallion’s wing— but you manage to take down an old mare.

The old lion is gleeful when you drag it in and hands you your rewards as you drop it.
    B. Try to slip away while others are going over to help?
MINOR: You try to slip away but the old lion clearly has better eyesight than you were anticipating. “And you, there! I meant you, too! I ain’t blind!”

While he sends some of the more eager volunteers to go out hunting, you get the… pleasant task of sitting near him to sort food and clean the prey brought back, listening to his grumbling the entire time. Still, you get compensated for your time.

MEDIUM: You think you get away, settling into a faster pace before slowing down when you’re far enough away to be out of earshot of anyone near the tunnel entrance. Until a small lion cub, purple and blue with gold bangles around her front legs, pounces on your tail.

“Hey, you think you can teach me to hunt? I always wanted to go but Uncle Ekoram won’t let me.” Her large golden eyes suck you in… and before you know it, you’re teaching a cub how to hunt the large lizards she spotted sunbathing on the rocks. She brings you a few treasures in thanks, carrying her catch proudly back to the grumpy old lion.

LARGE: Sneaking away from an old lion is no challenge, you do it easily. Besides, you were brought to this realm to fight a war, not prepare meals. It’s time to figure out what happened to the cats that followed that strange call…

Your investigation turns up no leads besides some runestones/a design/some strange tracks [XP].
    C. Run! Your champion can spot a grumpy old man. You’ll be there for hours trying to meet his perfect standards
MINOR: “ ‘EY, YOU! LAZY BONES! THAT RUNNIN’ COULDA BEEN USED FOR HUNTING, YOU UNGRATEFUL SPROUT!” The old lion shouts after you but you keep your head down. No one tries to stop you. Actually, a few felines send you sympathetic glances.

MEDIUM: It is a messy, frantic escape but no one seems to chance you for avoiding the old lion. One of the tree’s guardians chuckles to himself as you hide. “Yeah, Ekoram can be a bit overbearing to guests. No sense of boundaries, that one. Still, he keeps us well stocked. You mind standing guard of the tree for a bit? I’d love to have a hunting break. You know, change of scenery and all that.” He stretches and trots off, leaving your champion next to the tree without waiting to hear your response.

When he returns with a snack for himself an hour later, he gives you [blank].

LARGE: You and some other cats have the same idea. You speed off together, laughing at the ridiculousness of having to run from such an ancient lion to avoid hunting duty. There are more than enough cats around to help. And besides… that old lion has enough weight on him to prove that the city isn’t lacking food. Your new friends show you a nice spot to hang out away from prying eyes.

June 7th
Free from the old hunter, your champion/s make another break for it, this time at a faster pace to seem like you are on important business. No one stops you as you leave the Trinity Tree’s vicinity. It feels like you can finally breathe. All those cats that are still missing, though, concern you and the rest of the city. What evil force had enough power to divert so many of their citizens?

As you pace around the edge of the forest across the large field that separates the Trinity Tree from the rest, you swear you hear sobbing. Like, heart-wrenching, someone’s-lost-someone-dear-to-them kind of sobbing.

The source isn’t that far into the forest. Hiding under a bush is a small green adolescent cat with fur sticking up on his forehead. His paws, though, are jet black and look like it’s creeping upwards. You almost think it is an infection until you realize it’s just his fur color.

“I can’t go back, I can’t!” The cat wails, tucking his front legs under himself and staring up at you with large, watering eyes. “I’m cursed, they’re never going to let me back! I won’t ever see my mom, or my sisters, or—” He breaks off into sobs again.

Do your champions...
    A. Comfort the young cat?
MINOR: Comforting is either not your strong suit, or this cat is beyond being comforted by a stranger. He cries as you awkwardly pat his shoulder. He mutters something about being cursed again, looks at his black paws, and starts crying with new abandon.

Something is going on there, but you’re not able to find out what.

MEDIUM: You start purring and grooming the young cat without asking for an explanation. It seems like he’s been out here for a few days with not much to eat. The kindness you show him unravels his fear of you, and soon he is crying into your chest.

“You don’t understand! I keep— I keep having these awful dreams and every time I get them, this… this curse keeps getting worse! Soon I’ll be nothing but this empty black shadow!” He isn’t making sense to you but whatever is going on, he seems really upset by it. You get his name, though: “Cormac”

LARGE: The cat, who manages to share that his name is Cormac, cries until he can’t anymore. After that point, when he is exhausted and out of tears, he tries to explain his situation.

“These dreams I have, they’re about death and dying! Not myself, but bring it to others. To the sick, the old, the injured… I walk around like some wraith and urge them onwards! But the other day— I dreamed I put my paws on this poor lady’s kits… and they were dead when I woke up! That’s why I had to leave. The goddess is going to banish me if everyone else doesn’t find out first! I don’t know what to do! Please, you can’t tell anyone!”
    B. Remember the mother cat that was begging people to look for her son while she kept two small kittens close to her before many cats disappeared?
      MINOR: “Uh, you’re Cormac, right?”

The young cat’s head shoots up, pinning you with a look of absolute fear. “Why do you know my name— oh no, they sent you after me, didn’t they?!” With a yelp, he scrambles out of his bush, gives you a stinging smack on the nose, and dashes off deeper into the forest.

Rats. Well, at least you could tell his mom you found him? Briefly...

MEDIUM: “Hey, haven’t you been lost for a while?” You say with sympathy. “It’s not really my place— I don’t know what sorts of things are normal here, but have you told your mom what’s been happening? She seemed really worried about you.”

The young cat scuffs the ground with his paws, avoiding eye contact. “How could I tell her? That her firstborn son is cursed and killing cats when he dreams?!”

Woah, that’s a bombshell. You blink at him.

“I think I’m turning into a monster! I cannot put my family at risk. Please… could you tell her I’m sorry for leaving her?” The young cat is too stubborn to be persuaded.

LARGE: “I know I’m not from here, but you really think hiding in the woods is going to solve your problem? Has anyone actually banished you, or are you just too scared to accept help?” By balancing firmness with concern, the young cat appears scolded by your words.

“I mean… I guess it was a bit hasty to run away like that. But I’ve killed cats! I didn’t mean to— I just… somehow, I get this sense of urgency in my dreams and before I know it, I’m leading them away when I dream…”

You think for a moment, picking your words carefully. “Everyone dies sometime, right? Sounds like you’re a psychopomp— you guide souls to rest so they don’t get lost.”

The matter-of-fact way you say it makes the young cat feel better. “You have cats like me in your world? Really? Please take me there! No one would accept me here!”
    C. Uh, this feels… supernatural. Like everything else in this strange world. You stay alert and cautious
MINOR: “A curse,” you repeat, wary. “What did you do to get cursed?”

The young cat looks at you and begins to cry harder. “I don’t know! I don’t know why I deserve to be cursed! If I did do anything, I didn’t mean it! I’m sorry!”

He crouches into a smaller ball under the bush he’s hiding and wails. “I’m sorry, I don’t know! Please, can’t you help me?”

Without details, you have no idea what’s going on with him.

MEDIUM: “A curse, huh? What’s your curse, then?” You sit, morbidly curious about what this young cat thinks a ‘curse’ is. Maybe he got snubbed by someone he fancied or something.

The cat sniffs and wipes his face with a paw. “Do you know curses? Do you think you could help me?!”

“Can’t hurt to tell me what’s going on, right?” You reply, thankful the cat isn’t getting closer. If he is cursed, you don’t want to accidentally share it.

His face falls. “But… you’re not going to want to help me when you know what my curse is!”

Dang teenage hormones. The young cat is not going to share now that he’s all concerned about his curse again.

LARGE: “Surely, if you’re cursed, we can find someone to uncurse you, right?”

At that, the young cat bursts out of the bushes and stares at you, shaking with hope. “Really?! You think you can help me find someone to undo this curse! I don’t want to hurt anyone anymore! Oh please, please please! Please help me find someone!”

You’re taken aback by his intensity, but you nod and shrug. “Someone around here has got to specialize in breaking curses, right?”

The young cat deflates a bit. “I mean… yeah, there is this one cat… but she’s really strange.”

“Sounds perfect for this problem, doesn’t it?”

June 8th
You cannot stop thinking about that ‘cursed’ young cat the next day. This place gives you so much to think about and do, but you remember what the young cat, Cormac, said about the druid outcast that lives on the other edge of the plains. Before you can think better of it, you decide to give her a visit.

Lovorka, the self-proclaimed druid. She lives in a small den underneath the roots of a large tree, very similar to the Trinity Tree. You expect a small green cat— not a large blue lion with iridescent body paint all over. The patterns are beautiful but probably meaningless. She invites you inside for some tea as you take in the small garden full of fantastical-looking plants.

“Isn’t this great tree wonderful?” Her voice is soothing and musical, filling her well-furnished but cramped den without being loud. “I am thankful to be living under it.”

You look up. “Oh, I didn’t realise this was another goddess’ tree—”

“It isn’t. That tree, this tree. They represent whatever we want them to represent.”

Mmm. Does your champion…

    A. Politely drink the tea and then leave— no way this lion can help with a curse.
MINOR: “Anything you wanted to discuss, love?” The blue lion has beautiful carvings scattered around her place. Nature themed, mostly. Beautiful statues of vines climbing branches, delicate wooden crowns of flowers. Wait— your eyes linger on the masks that look like skulls, etched with similar patterns to her coat.

Uh, you’ll take your leave now.

MEDIUM: After drinking some of the tea, you make an excuse and leave without much chatter. A gust of wind comes out of nowhere and buffets your fur. As you start to head back, you see Cormac peeking out of the tall grass. His ears prick up and you shake your head in response.

He visibly deflates and slinks off before you can say anything to him.

LARGE: After some awkward silence on your part and amused silence on Lovorka’s part, she offers you some pretty snacks on your way out. Wrapped up in a nice fine cloth.

“Enough for you both,” she says with a smile. “So hopefully between you and Cormac, someone will be brave enough to come make a proper visit.”
    B. Firm and to the point, asks Lovorka if she really has the power to fix a cursed cat.
MINOR: “Cursed? Hmm, I don’t believe I’ve ever met a truly cursed cat. But I can provide charms and potions to those who are convinced of it.” She says with a slight, friendly smile.

You shake your head, apologizing for wasting her time. You were just curious about her power. She doesn’t sound like she’d be able to help Cormac.

MEDIUM: “Is it you, do you need a charm perhaps?”

You say it’s for a friend. Lovorka nods and pulls out a twine necklace with a wooden carved pendant.

“Here, for your friend. Oak leaves to ease his mind: patience, endurance, and strength.”

She hands it to you. You’re doubtful but carry it out back to where Cormac is still hiding in the forest’s edge. Carrying the twine between your teeth feels like static electricity. Maybe there is something to her after all.

LARGE: “A curse? If someone in that city is cursed, I haven’t sensed it.”

You start to think Lovorka is a fraud, living alone and spinning tales to amuse herself and entertain her visitors. But with a wave of her tail as you go to stand up, she gets up and reaches for a large flat wooden disk. It is a slice of a tree trunk with a triquetra carved into it. Beautiful and bold.

“This can mean many things— the universe as we know it has many patterns of threes. But relevant to you… and your friend, I’d show him this.” She points to the first and second point: “Life, death. In this realm, they’re out of balance. Which is why the universe is adjusting: the part in between: the afterlife, the transition between the two”.
    C. Wait to see what else this strange lion has to say.
MINOR: Lovorka asks why you visited her. You give her some nondescript, vague answer and quickly drink the tea. It’s actually… really good. She smiles as you excuse yourself to leave.

“It’s amazing what you can discover by yourself, isn’t it?” Lovorka glances down at your tea bowl. When you follow her gaze, you see the leaves are almost in the shape of a three-pointed knot.

MEDIUM: When your mouth is full with your first sip of tea, Lovorka looks off into the distance before she begins to speak.

“Life is always a cycle, isn’t it? Three-fold, again and again and again. The youngsters, adults, and the old… all a part of the rebirth. Even those not from here feel the same eternal pull.”

You swear one of the markings on her paws is glowing brighter than the others. A triquetra.

LARGE: Lovorka waits yout out until you start idle chatter, entertaining you and answering questions about her den and carvings (yes, she made them herself) and her magical capabilities (the lioness likes to think everyone is capable of at least a little bit of magic). You’re doubting her skills until she looks you dead in the eyes and says:

“This realm needs to be rebalanced. It may not comfort him, but Cormac has been gifted with power to assist the change.”

The fur on your neck raises. You never told her Cormac’s name. Somehow, light catches her amber eyes and makes them appear depthless.

June 9th
The visit with Lovorka, although odd and somewhat confusing, lifts something from your shoulders. You don’t really know how to describe it, but as you walk back, thinking, you find an old cat with bent whiskers and grey creeping into his fur tending to a personal garden outside of the city. You walk by, not thinking anything of him— until you see the tears running silently off his face.

You glance around, no one else is here. Do you...

    A. Well, this is awkward. *Leaves*
MINOR: Well, you can name that emotion you weren’t feeling briefly after leaving the druid’s den: dread. Seeing this cat at this moment makes you realize that the inhabitants of this strange land are all suffering in some form or fashion over this war.

MEDIUM: Okay, maybe it isn’t the kindest choice to leave this old cat to cry alone but you’d already done so much for this community. Enough is enough— you’re tired, both physically and emotionally. Is life here so bad that the communities here have given up on their problems and resorted to calling felines from other places to assist them?

Even though you think about the old crying cat, you’re too lost in thought to help me. He is too lost in thought to notice you, anyways.

LARGE: As you try to return to the city, a guard is standing in the tunnel leading to the city proper, looking concerned. It is a large dark-colored cat with bright orange eyes that pick you out of the dimly lit halls.

“You there. Have you seen an elderly cat, pale green with a white tail? He tends to a private garden most of the time. He keeps missing meals, staying out later than it is safe. The city will reward you for locating him.”
    B. Offer to help with the gardening.
MINOR: “...thank you, but it’s a private garden.” The old cat mumbles, pushing some dirt around. He clearly doesn’t want help— or maybe he just doesn’t want you specifically to help.

You stand there awkwardly, wondering why so many of these strange felines in this strange world are… well, strange.

MEDIUM: “Mmrrph,” the old cat looks around at the small plot of land and back to you. “... I guess it couldn’t hurt.” He points you over to the tulip buds he has carefully wrapped and asks you to dig the holes so he can plant them.

The work is easy and peaceful. The old cat stops crying, thankfully, but he is still morose the entire time you help him. He does, however, thank you for your time.

LARGE: “This garden, it’s all I’ve been able to contribute. It’s my life laid out before me.” The cat says, a few more tears rolling down his cheeks. “It’s not anything impressive… I had hoped to get some trees growing, but those cursed army minions suck all the life out of this land!” The old cat lashes his tail.

“All I could manage was some flowers— tulips.”
    C. Ask the cat what’s wrong.
MINOR: The old cat grunts and gestures with a fair amount of anger at his garden. “These decay monsters are preventing my garden from flourishing! It’s all I have, all I’ve done.”

You look at the plants. They look decent, not spectacular or anything. To someone who doesn’t know much about gardening, it’s a very impressive garden, albeit small.
MEDIUM: “Oh it’s… just the fickle emotions of an old cat. Don’t let me weigh you down— you know what I mean on your own time, long after I’m gone.” The old cat keeps his head down and prods at a few of the leaves of his tulips.

When you try and prod him into giving you a more concrete answer, the old cat seems to withdraw within himself and returns to fussing with his garden. It looks as clean and neat as a garden could be.
LARGE: The old cat takes a shaking breath. “It’s… this garden is all I’ve been able to accomplish in life. No children, no grandkids, not even a legendary tale to make up for it. I’ve lived here my entire life and did what every other cat did— and I’m not ready to give it up, even though you’d think I would have either changed my ways or made peace with it.”

He lies down and tucks his paws under him, looking up at you with watering eyes. “I don’t think I’ll ever be ready. The thought of it is crushing me.”

June 10th
That old cat that was gardening that morning, remember him? The guards are looking for him later that evening, concerned that he hasn’t returned to the underground city all morning. You learn the old cat’s name: Tederick III, a pale green and white cat with no living family members, no one who can call him friends. A grumpy old man who tends to his garden with all of his time and energy.

He has been moving slower, been more snappy with everyone— when he even responds to others.

Could your champions help find him?
    A. You readily agree to search for the old cat and head back to his garden for clues.
MINOR: Tederick III is no longer at his garden. You look around, see that everything is still nice and neat. Nothing is damaged or messed with. You’re reluctant to step into the garden’s perimeter in case you accidentally mess something up.

Unfortunately, you know almost nothing about this old cat. You don’t know anywhere else to look for him.

MEDIUM: Thankfully, gardens are inherently messy places. When you go back to Tederick III’s garden, you don’t find him… but you do find his pawprints! You follow the trail back to the underground city, past some guards (who don’t remember him passing by?), and to an intersection of tunnels. Because of all the traffic that passes through here, you’re not quite able to find out exactly which way he went.

LARGE: Tracking an old cat who was just working with strongly-scented plants— and isn’t trying to hide— is well within your capabilities. He headed back into the tunnels underground, but not to the city. He took a detour before he got there. As you follow the trail, you realize this is the same area that you had been ambushed at by the army of decay. Where you can find the life goddess....
    B. This is concerning behavior from a cat that old. You press the guards for more information about Tederick III.
MINOR: One of them shrugs. “He’s not well known, even though he’s been here since dirt. Not a friendly tom, that one. Got worse with age, ya know?”

You have to stop yourself from snapping at the guard or rolling your eyes. It doesn’t sound like anyone cares for the old cat as an individual. Just general concern for a missing citizen.

MEDIUM: The second guard sighs. “Well, no one really knows him too well. It’s quite sad, really. Tederick likes to keep everyone out of his life, especially these past few years. Of those that do try to help him, he snaps at us and is prickly until we all give up.” He trails off, looking mournful.

“He’s been really focused on our goddess lately, though. Maybe that can help you? We’re all so busy with this war going on.”

LARGE: “Tederick III is quite standoffish,” one of the guards says, leaning in to speak under his breath. “I think he’s worried about dying. He’s been really focused on doing anything he can to serve the goddess and keep his garden perfect. I don’t think it’s healthy— but he has no one close enough to him that he’ll listen to.”

You nod, thankful for the information. Maybe you’ll look for the most common places where these felines assist or worship their goddess. Tederick III could be there.
    C. Really? All these citizens and not a single one of them can find a lonely old cat?
MINOR: Those guards get an earful from you for letting so many of their citizens wander off during such dangerous times. One of them looks tired, the other is properly ashamed.

MEDIUM: You huff, irritated. First that cursed cat, Cormac, and now this? You’re not here to round up anyone who isn’t of fighting age. This is getting out of hand. With a baneful look at the guards to let them know what you think of their capabilities, you stalk off.

LARGE: “Don’t you think you need better guards if you’re losing citizens like this? Didn’t you hear that poor mother cat the other day, crying about her missing son? And that was before that strange spell that called some of you away.” You don’t hold back on your criticism. If these felines wanted you to help with their problems, they best be expecting you to be critical of their ways.

“This war isn’t the only important thing in your lives. You have a city full of felines to keep safe!”

Both guards look ashamed. “You’re right. We’ll recruit more to help and send out a search party.”

June 11th
Tederick III, your champions find, is resting at that quiet eerie space underneath the Trinity Tree where you can see the resting life goddess. He is curled up with his ragged tail over his nose and a bouquet of flowers in his mouth. Eyes closed, looking peaceful.

Alarmed, your champions rush forward, fearing the worst…

    A. Attempt to wake him up
MINOR: You prod Tederick’s shoulder with enough force to jostle him. He wakes up with a large, long yawn, showing that he’s missing a few teeth.

“Tederick, why are you here? Everyone’s been worried about you.”

He ignores your question and looks up at the goddess’ silent tree. He looks… resigned. Without a word, he gets up to leave.

MEDIUM: You use both paws to frantically shake his shoulder, jumping back with surprise and relief when the old cat opens his orange eyes, squinting up at you.

“Leave me alone,” he grumbles, frustrated to be bothered. “Just let me be. I don’t want anyone here. I don’t even know you.” He’s quite snappy with you, which seems to be his normal.

“I’m glad you’re safe,” You respond, pretending to not notice his foul mood.

LARGE: After a gentle nudge of your nose, you wait for a moment for any reaction. It takes another nudge before Tederick III stirs, groaning and yawning. When he stretches, his joints creak and pop. He blinks up at you, eyes still glassy with sleep.

“Hmm… not as rejuvenating as I’d like. But it’s the next day, is it?”

“...no. It’s late, though. Why don’t I escort you back home? We’ve been worried about you.”

Tederick III pretends to be unaffected by your concern but you get the sense that he’s pleased that someone came to look for him.
    B. Confront the Goddess
MINOR: All the anger and frustration that has been building up since you arrived to this realm spills over. You snarl at the goddess in her tree, your eyes flashing with the constant blue light that surrounds her.

The only response you receive is Tederick jerking awake.

MEDIUM: You stalk past Tederick silently, feeling your frustration bubble over. What is going on with this place?!

“Do you even help any of these poor cats fighting your war?!” You demand, hissing at her. Perhaps, if it was another deity, you’d be worried about offending them. But ever since you’ve gotten here, the life goddess has not demonstrated her power. If she even has any.

Your only answer is more silence.

LARGE: You run forward, putting yourself between Tederick and the life goddess. The old cat startles awake, dropping his tulips. He looks up at you and the blue glow of the goddess as you pace.

“Is she even helping you? Or anyone else for that matter? This war— aren’t you all tired of it?!”

Tederick’s head drops low. “Well, yes… that’s why I make my offerings. In hopes to be at peace before my time comes.”

“I’ve grown so weak…” the goddess murmurs. “... maintaining myself is all I can manage. I’m sorry.”
    C. Leave him be
MINOR: Whatever Tederick is doing— especially if he’s dying— you don’t want to disturb him. It seems like a private ritual between him and the goddess. Quietly, you turn around and head back out.

MEDIUM: Before you reach Tederick, you realize that maybe you shouldn’t interrupt him. You back up to stand there at the entrance to the private room, watching. After a long few minutes, you determine the old cat is in a deep sleep. He looks content, sleeping there in the soft light of his goddess. Quietly, you turn back and inform the guards you’ve found him.

LARGE: You think better of waking Tederick up when you reach him, realizing that he’s in a deep sleep, so deep his breathing is quite slow. The life goddess doesn’t seem to be doing anything, but the atmosphere is so peaceful that you’re reluctant to break it. Instead, you decided to keep watch on the other side, waiting for Tederick to wake up.

It is a good break for you both.

June 12th
Unbelievably, Tederick III is not dead! Or even dying. Just… a sad old cat with nothing left, hoping he’s relieved of his emotional pain. Your champions coax him back out of the secret room under the tree to somewhere nicer. The sound of rumbling above your head, passing through the earth, are from the life goddess’ forces preparing for the next fight. You have a strange sense of foreboding and finality.

An odd scratching sound catches your attention as you escort Tederick III back to his home. The old cat clearly doesn’t hear anything, but you make a mental note of where in the tunnels you were so you can return without him. With a promise to visit as soon as you can, you leave Tederick in the safety of his home before rushing back to the suspicious noise.

It is not a well-used tunnel, with little foot traffic and lighting. And... a fresh pile of dirt.

What do you do?
    A. Investigate on your own.
MINOR: After the emotional interactions with Tederick, you’re feeling curious. No harm in looking for a pest, right? The small pile of dirt you saw earlier in the tunnel is followed by a larger one when you walk further down the path. You come to a fork in the path and take one. Unfortunately, you do find anything else.

MEDIUM: As you explore, you come across more dirt piles and scratches along the tunnel walls and ceiling. The lighting here isn’t very good and it doesn’t smell like anyone has been here in quite some time. You go in circles in what seems like hours in the darkness, searching for whatever was digging the holes you find. Even though you feel like you’re being watched at times, you find nothing.

LARGE: You’re determined to find out what is going on in this back-end tunnel. Expecting to take time and effort finding the culprit, your patience and determinations carries you through lots of backtracking and dead ends. The only scent you can find is of wet, decaying leaves… but that’s what you follow since it is out of place down here in the cool but dry tunnels. As you search, you finally stumble across a small alcove carved out of the way with three pairs of eyes staring out at you...
    B. Call for backup.
MINOR: Before you go any further, you want to have someone else at your back to make sure this isn’t serious. Surely the tunnels underground have to be strengthened and reinforced once in a while, right? An expert would be better to have with you. Finding someone, however, who is willing to go on a whim is a lot harder than you expected.

MEDIUM: It is hard to find some guards to come with you since everyone is so concerned about the war, but you do manage to find a few of them. Armed with torches and weapons, they let you lead the way to the suspicious tunnel. Something clearly was trying to dig in the tunnels and caused some damage. After some searching, the guards turn up blank. They cannot find pawprints or a scent, just the rich smell of wet plants.

LARGE: The guards you find are not interested until you mention the pile of dirt. Alarmed, they rush over to the area with you and begin searching with torches flickering and weapons drawn. You don’t know what the fuss is all about until you hear a surprised cry of pain and then a lot of hissing and snarling.

Before you know it, the guards are dragging out three felines out into the light. Seeing them, you know they’re from the army of decay.
    C. You’re not here to deal with a mole problem.Leave.
MINOR: As you go to leave, you trip over an exposed root and almost squish your face into the floor. Dang tunnels! Brushing the dirt from your fur, you right yourself and continue on at a slower pace.

MEDIUM: Yeah, this isn’t something you’re too worried about right now. Not with a war happening. As you go to leave, you spot another, bigger pile of dirt. No. Nope, you didn’t see anything. Keeping your eyes off the ground, you head back.

LARGE: You sniff the air, trying to decide if any prey animals have made the grave mistake of coming down here. It smells like wet leaves and wood. No, thank you. As you turn around to head back, you notice a large hole dug into one of the far walls… Uh, nope. Not your problem. Walking calmly like you didn’t see anything, you head back without a word.

June 13th
[Either your champion had discovered this on their own and had guards follow them, asked for support, or arrived when they heard the following commotion] Three members of the army of decay are yanked out of their hiding spot by some angry guards. There is a lot of snarling, hissing, and yowling. The enemy felines are all dark colors, not the bright cheerful colors of the underground city’s inhabitants.

But when you hear them cry out, you realise that the two lions are just adolescents— and the cat is pretty young, too.

“Please, let them go!” The cat cries out, frantically trying to escape the grip on her scruff. “We’re not hurting anyone!”

Do you…?

    A. Let the guards do their jobs?
MINOR: The decay felines are frightened and outnumbered. Even though you discovered the perimeter breach on your own, this isn’t your duty. You did your part and go to leave, but hesitate and decide to watch instead.

MEDIUM: The guards are efficient and cold, rounding up the trespassers with blades and weapons pointed their way to keep them in line. The two younger lions look frightened— even with their dark eyes, while the cat looks almost twice her size. She’s very angry with all of you. “We’re not a danger to you, don’t treat us like that!”

LARGE: You step back to let the guards do their jobs, watching how they treat the young decay felines like they’re a major danger. Sure, they look different… but not any scarier than armed guards. Actually, the other felines look terrified of what is going to happen to them. You don’t know what protocol is… but you wish you could comfort them.
    B. Ask the guards to stop and hear the enemy’s side of the story?
MINOR: “Surely you can hear them out first?” You try to cut in, but the guards are making it difficult to get close. One of them shoots you a glare. “Thanks for the tip, but we’ve got control of this now.”

MEDIUM: “Why don’t we figure out why they got here?” You ask loudly, looking at the guard that seems to be the leader. The well-armored lioness who was leading the arrest looks back at you. “You’re right, we should interrogate them. What is your purpose here?!” She yells right in the decay felines’ faces— causing all of them to shrink back.

That is not what you meant!

LARGE: At first you try to interrupt politely, but after a few moments of the guards not listening to you and seeing the young decay felines get more frightened and boxed in, you shove your way through, shouting “Enough! You don’t have to scare them!” The guards are shocked by your intensity and automatically back up. The decay cat in the front gives you a grateful look as the two lions take a relieved breath.
    C. Or walk away, not wanting to get involved?
MINOR: Maybe you’re uncomfortable or not interested. Either way, you leave the young decay feliens to fend for themselves against the guard. You don’t want to stay and deal with the boring process of imprisoning war captives.

MEDIUM: “Please, why are you treating us this way?” You hear one of the intruders cry out, pleading for anyone kind to save them. But that’s not you. You’re only a guest here— the last thing you need is to be accused of helping the opposition. Maybe you feel some guilt walking off, maybe you don’t.

LARGE: You walk off, quite confident in your decision. You helped Tederick, found some infiltrators, and got the guards to take care of it without getting further involved in the situation. You’re feeling confident with a job well done… until you keep walking and the sounds of the scared decay felines don’t ebb. It feels like their fear and despair is chasing you down the tunnels, trying to convince you to come back.

After a moment of consideration, Cole nodded. "Yes, I can help." His tail swished just above the ground as he tried not to let it fall into the puddles of mud surrounding them. "Um..." he trailed off, nervously ducking his head as he tried to figure out if it was even okay to ask. "But, uh, I don't-" The gray lion paused again before mumbling at lightning speed, "-know how to fix the limbs by myself."

When Asa prompted him to repeat himself, he cringed, nervously pawing at the ground for a moment (and grimacing when he accidentally sank his paw right into the disgusting mud) before finally getting it out, this time in the form of a question. "How do I...fix them though?" He was afraid she'd get mad, thinking it was a waste of time to have to teach him because it'd mean he'd be slowing her down when he was supposed to be helping, but she was surprisingly nice in response to his question, even volunteering to show him instead of just giving him instructions or waiting for him to ask to watch her. "Thank you," Cole said quietly, following after her towards the tree and watching carefully as she began to fix one of the limbs.

Prompt 1 wrote:"We have to keep moving on. We have to prepare for the next attack, Orpheus," Lucian muttered to the black tom, who seemed unswayed.

Lucian had seemed unmoved by Asa's words whatsoever; and even then, he felt that if he'd do it he'd do it himself. But Orpheus seemingly disliked the notion of not even giving Asa's words a chance; he seemed moved to her words, as if her request of reinforcing the branches seemed compelling enough.

Lucian did not want to budge. "Why on earth would we waste time reinforcing branches, when we could be helping out in the battles? I don't quite understand, Orpheus," Lucian spat, his odd eyes narrowing, expressing his annoyance. "Is the earth magic finally getting to you?"
Orpheus paused for a moment before replying. "If she says that the branches need to be reinforced, then I believe they do. She is a caretaker, after all, I believe she knows what she's doing."

Although he lashed his tail in his bout of annoyance, he decided - hey, at least he wasn't getting into the middle of everything again; maybe taking a break to assist her and follow what she said was worth something.

"Fine."
Orpheus glanced back at Lucian gratefully and turned back to Asa. "So, what do we have to do, exactly?"

Prompt: 339 words

Nereus strayed from Alaz for a few brief moments.
Or so he hoped it would only be that much.
He was now perched beside Asa, his paws touching the bark of the Trinity tree. He was more than a little unsure of his abilities, but he managed, slowly, to help fix some of the damage.
He wasn't sure how well though.
"Here, like this." Asa showed him how she was touching the bark and reinforced the bases of large limbs. Nereus climbed up, pressing against the bark where another branch was connected. He pressed with most of his strength, using the supplies Asa gave him to help strengthen the tree's limbs.
Why was he doing this? He didn't know what made him want to fix the tree. He was already suspicious of these weird unnaturally coloured cats.
He scoffed as he grunted with the effort of reinforcing the tree, he almost fell from his perch. He didn't want to use his claws if he didn't have to.
"Careful," Asa called, "I can help you if needed!"
"I got this." Nereus mumbled, he didn't need any help, he just wanted to finish this as fast as possible and get back to his son, who hopefully didn't notice his leaving.
His tail flooded with water as he used his magic to help bind the materials around the branch. "Okay! That worked better than expected." he used his paws to press down on the materials, and absorb the excess water.
He looked to where Asa was as he shifted to the next branch. She was somewhere down below he thought, as he continued to work on the higher branches. If he needed to descend... or if he managed to lose his grip, he could summon water to catch his fall. His muscles still strained with fatigue as he finished another branch.
He wheezed, scampering down to the base. "Am I done yet?" He wanted to get back to preparing for the next attack, the tree didn't need so much attention did it?

[208/200]
As Diablo stared at broken and mottled clearing he glanced up at the tree and her fractured limbs. He so desperately wanted to help but he knew he had to prepare for the next wave of angry beasts. It’s not like he doesn’t have time to help out around the city any other time but right now he was busy.

Diablo frowned softly as Asa spotted him and called him over to help out,“Listen... Asia,Was it? Asa. I’m not the best repair lion and well I wouldn’t be doing you guys much justice. I’d be willing to get you guys supplies or your magical Duck Tape or whatever you guys are using but that’s where I cross the line. I need to help train units because the tactic there isn’t great. Thank you anyways.” And with the end of the sentence he flicked his tail and stalked away.

Soon Diablo was training units and making lions and cats help clear the clearing and push important branches into a pile. Either way he still assisted but he had his eyes on preparing for the next fateful attack. Diablo watched others before leaping on some of the dummies but soon recoiling remembering the feeling of boils on his paw pads.

As Valerius walked down the paths, taking in the damage from the previous night the stench of mud hit him, making him grimace. The ground beneath his paws was wet and soft, making him wince as it squished with his every step.
Before long as he walked, observing things along the way, he was surprised to see a cat in the branches of the tree.
Curious he paused a moment to watch the cat go about their work, only just able to see from where he stood.

When she spoke he was almost surprised but introduced himself. As she asked for his help he hesitated, knowing the others might be up and about soon and expecting to get going, but not wanting to leave everything to the citizens he said, “Sure, I guess I could.”

She seemed almost pleased he thought when he agreed to do it.
“I warn you though, I have no idea how to go about fixing a tree. I don’t have much luck with plants at all really.”
His words didn’t seem to faze her really and as he settled in to help her he found the task wasn’t as boring as he might have expected, and Asa herself didn’t seem like bad company.

Prompt: [you must write 200 words or more OR flat color fullbody drawing]
Melli decided she didn't need a cat's help just to repair a tree. Honestly, how hard could it be. All she needed to do was prop them up a bit better, maybe tie something around the branches to keep them together. It would be easy, and Melli would be great at it.
Melli was not great at it. Five minutes later she was growling to herself under her breath. This isn't going well and she could feel the goddess’s eyes resting on her back. It was pressure and Melli hated it. She was trying alright? Trying to stick the stupid twig back onto a stupid branch and everytime there was a slight breeze another branch would jab into her, no matter where she stood. She could see Asa coming over to help her, could imagine disapproval in her eyes when she saw that Melli had only further ruined the tree by helping. Frustrated Melli growled again and without another look behind her she stormed off. She almost kicked another branch off, if not for the fact she could still feel the goddesses gaze.
Besides, she tried to reason, if the branches were not strong enough to remain on the tree they didn't deserve to grow there.

Prompt choice: A
Prompt:

After his discussion with the eyes in the tree, Mamba made his way back to the city. However, before he got to the roots, a small cat caught his attention. She seemed to be cleaning up the debris that were scattered across the ground, and moved towards the tree that Mamba had just left. Curious, Mamba wandered over to her. He opened his mouth to greet her, but she beat him to it, explaining that she was fixing the broken branches. When she asked for his help, he obliged, though he was a little wary about climbing the tree given his size. He was careful with his steps, making sure not to step on any thin or cracked branches.

He must have been quite the sight, a Child of Qilin climbing a mysterious glowing tree to help a cat with equally mysterious glowing eyes. If Morrow could see him now, the other Metallic would have collapsed with laughter. Nuria would have probably smirked too, and made it into a joke for later. Mamba supposed it was probably a good thing none of them could see him awkwardly trying to balance among the branches. Regardless of how goofy he looked, he set to work, diligently following Asa's instructions.

Prompt:

B. Work separately from her, it will go faster.
C. The tree can wait, you need to help prepare for the next attack!

When the two sisters ventured back out of the city that morning, it was all too obvious that there was still clean up to be done. The tree had sustained some damage, although not much. Still, there were fallen leaves and branches, and some of the branches had been snapped.

With her magical abilities, Kandra figured that she would be of some use to the cat, Asa, and easily agreed to assist her. While she came here without knowing just what it was that she and her sister, Pandra, would be getting into, she had already decided to do whatever she could while she was here. After all, it wasn't as though she could return home yet, anyway.

"Please, show me what to do," Kandra replied to the cat. Though, she glanced at her sister, as well. "What about you?"

"Of course I'll help, too," Pandra, the primarily brown lioness, gave her answer. She didn't have the same sort of magic as Kandra did. While her sister could use her magic to literally move, carry, and use objects, she wasn't as talented. Still, though, she could but her paws and everything else to good use.

The pair, having decided to help, were willingly instructed on what to do, and did their best to help.
