Once upon a time, there was a family of Sheers. They are known as the Viktorovs in a small town called Mueller. The Viktorov family owned the biggest mansion in the town. This particular family of Sheers are the richest one in town and unlike most nobles, they are very polite and generous, liked by everyone in the small, happy and peaceful town. They are modest and everyone in the family was kind, expect one. His name was Vlad, the oldest son in the family. Vlad was cold, emotionless and cruel. He was like that even as a child. Killing small animals without a reason, experimenting on them, giving the dead animals to his family members as a gift- the family didn't shun him, they understood his situation and took care of him very well. No magic could help him, either, it was too risky and the Viktorovs are modern Sheers. He was stuck to be like who he is. No matter, the family loved him when no one else would.

The town of Mueller is known for their technology and fashion designers. Over the years, many Sheers had moved in and many new buildings were made, even more mansions for other nobles were built. A noble family known as the Laurens, who recently moved there along with many others, hosted an event in their mansion for everyone in town, rich and poor sheers are welcomed. The whole town attended the event. The Ladies of the Viktorovs even persuaded their eldest shut-in son Vlad to attend the event. The eldest child of the Laurens saw Vlad and was infatuated by him. Though, in fear of being rejected, the Sheer only tried their best to befriend the quiet and cruel Vlad. After that day they became one-sided friends with Vlad mostly confused as to what the term meant.

One day, the mansion of the Viktorovs was set on fire by a mysterious criminal. The whole town tried to help but with no avail as the whole mansion were burnt down. The only survivor from the family was Vlad, who were stargazing with the eldest son of the Laurens. That day, Vlad shed tears for once in his life; feeling emotions that he never felt before nor could he understood it. Tears pours down his face but his expression was dead, he didn't understand why was he crying. That day, he lost his family and the only ones that he thought had loved him despite who he is.

There is no happy ending to every fairy tale.
No one ever knew what happened or who did it.

Why does this little tale concerns you, you ask?

You are James Dakota, a daring journalist that goes to where other Sheers won't for your reports. You've learned about the Viktorov legend and heard that while the mansion survived the fire only with burnt furniture here and there, no one dared to make a report on it. Such a tale would be interesting to read on Halloween, so you decided to visit the mansion.

However, upon stepping into the mansion…
You were knocked out.

How the game works:
You will be the voices inside James' head, his sub-conscious, his guide.
Help him survive and along the way, discover more about the story.

Each form you will be posting will ask for an action or your opinion. After I close the current round or part of the story, I will either choose the best option or mix the options. If none of the option is good enough, a hint will be given. Each option that I see is deemed worthy and well thought out will either receive randomly rolled candies or items. If I don't see your option as worthy I will give a reason so don't worry. The tense doesn't matter. I'll also post the next action/thoughts if needed or add some options.

Good grammar isn't required, just make yourself understandable.

Previously learning that the monsters are afraid of fire from one of the tombs, James ran into a corner and protected himself with his torch.

You open your eyes and gets up slowly, your head feeling as if it's about to split into two. Sobering up, you try to see your surroundings but it's pitch black. You feel a cold liquid draning down your head, it smells oddly of iron. That's where your head ache the most. You reach into your bag, which suprisingly is still on your person and lights up a lighter. It doesn't light up most of the room but what you can see so far is normal, they're just old and eaten by time. You spot a nearby table with a few candles on it. This room was untouched by fire, you thought as you look around and saw a flight of spiral blacksteel stairs going up. You can't see anything else.

Your favorite mug given by your niece

I run up the stairs, calling out for help. I ignore the scent of iron coming from near me, and take a chance. I reach into my bag, and pull out my camera. I quickly took a picture; hoping the flash would light the area up.

You decide to wait for help.
Maybe if you just keep quiet, what knocked you out'll leave you alone.
You light some of your pencils and small shreds of paper on fire, to keep you warm and make you feel safe.
And possibly light up the area a bit more.

What do you do now? -- Before you do anything, you need to have a look around at your surroundings. You take a candle off the table and light it on fire. Holding it up, you begin to walk slowly around the room, making sure you don't miss anything.

You head over to the table and take a candle. You hold the lighter's flame to the wick and wait a moment for it catch. Flicking the lighter closed you hold the candle out in front of you and creep up the stairs.

I slowly stumble up on my feet, taking baby steps towards the table and lighting all the candles. Taking deep breaths, I reach in for my camera and start taking pictures of my surroundings, then a picture of myself. Blood on my head? I should look for some medical supplies. I take out my water and take a quick drink before grabbing a candle and slowly making my way up the dizzying stairs.
