The muddle of numerous scents assaults you once more, seemingly more pungent than they had been the day prior. Nevertheless, you venture further in, greeting the strange apothecary apprentice as you do.

“Oh, you’re back! I wasn’t certain you’d return,” the feline replies, turning from their work station to peer at you. Their head tilts as recognition lights up their gaze, “And you’ve brought back the plantling, how wonderful! Come, come, let me take a look.”

[Hazelfang]

A shower of dampened soil scatters about as the tabby shakes their fur. They promptly begin meticulously grooming their paws, seemingly undeterred by the likely unpleasant flavor of mud. “Your help is greatly appreciated, fellow foreigner. Perhaps we could work together once more?” they speak between laps of their prickled tongue, their remaining eye focused on their work.

There is a moment of quiet hesitation. What further help could the mysterious feline need? More seedlings to plant? Perhaps some other mundane form of gardening? Your interest was piqued, to say the least. And so, you inquire for more information.

“Nothing too burdensome, worry not. It’s just, gardening is only a fraction of my apothecary work. Now that we have plenty of nightly samples to work with, I’m interested in seeing what kind of solutions can be made from them.” They glance up at you, a subtle glint of mischief amidst a depth of azure. “Just like with gardening, I cannot make all of these samples alone. Not enough for sufficient research, as you know. Which is where you come in.”

They gesture with their pristinely cleaned paw towards you, then down at another three piles in front of them. Each pile has a small basket with a carefully prepared mixture of two types of flora and a binding fluid. Luckily, the assortment of verdure have already been expertly ground into a dissolvable paste, each one filling individual glass vials. “So, foreigner friend, would you be willing to experiment mixing together one of these solutions and return the results to me tomorrow?”
