bone white fangs unveiled, ghostly pale under the simmering glow of lanterns.

her target perched, slumped over the wooden counters, the spice of his cider lilting between them. he guffawed, a snort shooting through his nose. “you don’t play games, eh?” a glint gleamed at the corner of his eyes as he nodded towards his fellow buddies, inciting scattered laughter from them. “well, humour me, darling.”

there was a reason she despised high society targets. ego dripped with each and every parting of their jaws, self-importance as inflated as the sails of a merchant ship. but with iryssa out of the question, the task fell upon her shoulders.

“one, i’ve never been in-love before.” she leaned closer, paws folded, shielded from view. “two, i have a half-sister. and three,” with a slow smile, she lurched forward until she was nose-to-nose with the other feline, the sweetspice on his breath looming. her voice hushed to a mere conspiratorial whisper. “i’m the king’s daughter.”

raucous laughter boomed from every corner of the space, the lanterns flicking at the thunderous sound. paws slammed against wooden counters, grins and guffaws aplenty. it hid the sleight of her paw, the uncorking of a vial, the tipping of white flakes into her target’s cup.

“that’s not how the game goes, darling.” her target’s touch skimmed her shouler. “we have to guess what the lie is. that last one,” he broke off with a chuff, “obviously a lie. the king only has one daughter all hidden in that steel fortress of his. she looks nothing like you.”

she shook him off. “i’m not very good at games, then. i’ll take my leave.”

as the feline dropped his touch and sipped his drink, she smiled. she tilted her face away from the light, taking her leave, but not before calling out one last time: “you shouldn’t be too quick to judge. best to hold that lovesick heart of yours close.”

it’d be the last words her target ever heard… from an illegitimate daughter of the king.

I’ve been recently entertaining the idea of adding godly familiars to Zenith! They won’t be cats exactly in Zenith, but rather these cats rarely show themselves to others.
These are plans I have atm!
Odin - A silver charcoal black mink rosette/marbled tabby with a curled/kinked tail with a raven familiar.
Loki - A oriental shorthair with vitiligo and a serpent familiar. His name is Myrkviðr (Meaning dark wood or Black Forest).
Njord - An albissan characterized by a pirate? They would ride on longships alongside their humans!

These cats will likely appear in dreams, rarely in person

“Look at me Solarroar… he is a terrible leader and we both know it. I am not here to fight against you but rather along side you. We both have the same goal in mind… I just want to push it a bit further.”

“I suppose… and you’re sure this idea of yours will work? You say you’ve been training three kittens since they were a few moons old Longanfrost?”

“Of course, I wouldn’t lie. That’s not what we’re here to talk about. I want you to swear you won’t stray from the plan. I promise on my half, I just need your word. If all goes well, I’ll be the leader and you’ll be my deputy. That or you can be the leader and I’ll be your deputy. Do we have a deal?”

“… And how can I trust you?”

“I am the descended of the legendary Dragonblaze. He was a noble warrior one with pride and loyalty for his clan. I’ve promised him all these years and I haven’t given up on it unlike my cousins. I wouldn’t give up on you either.”

“Run this by me again.”

“It’s simple… my three fine warriors are strong and I’ve taught them skill sets only perfected by Dragonblaze himself! When Ramstar and Rabbitwhisker are out on their leadership talks, I will ambush them. Both will be taken down and we will hide up the evidence.”

“And what does that have to do with me?”

“You Solarroar will be my alibi. I want you to be there alongside the two of them. Run away when my warriors attack. You’ll be spared I’ll tell them not to attack you. Though we’ll make it so that it looks like it but it won’t be! You’ll run away and warn the camp and be frantic and I’ll return also worried. It will be perfect Solarroar. Don’t you trust me?”

“Yes Longan… I know either of us would be better in power. Though you most certainly would be the best of them all. This was a dream of Dragonblaze’s and you’ll be the most favored when you fulfill it.”

“The rest of my cousins have given up. They’re all worried about their families and clan duties. I’ll never give up on this task and I will claim what should be my family’s right. My mother will be so proud of me. I’ll make this clan a haven. No one will mess with us again. No one will grow hungry. Bears will fear us. A weak and kind leader like Ramstar and his upbeat deputy are the worst for this clan! Do you understand it all now?”

“Yes Longanfrost. I do.”

“Then let’s get going.”

A faint movement of leaves from a bush… but it stopped shortly to reveal a little squirrel. As the two walked away, there was someone watching from afar. Lotuswave had her eyes locked on the scene that unfolded in front of her eyes. She smiled. With a quick pace in steps, she skipped away. For all these moons the clan was worrying about the wrong duo of cats fighting for power. It was about to bite them all in the back.

so a big part of the reason starclan is disconnected from elysium and only reachable through highly specific conditions about twice a year, is because way back when before the game started, curan realized "hey, maybe alienating everybody else from us and indoctrinating our children that they have to belong to one of four groups or become homeless, is a pretty bad idea". they consulted with starbright (starclan) and their ancestors were like "but like, our ancestors did this way back when so its totally fine, look how well it worked for thunder/shadow/river/wind/sky". well, curan didnt like it, but they listened to starbright.

timeskip about sixty or so years later, the topic comes around again. but who are the freshly deceased that are more than willing to guide their descendants? those same cats who were worried about it in their time. so when asked theyre like "i mean its the way things have always been but...sometimes change can be good", essentially telling them "we're not telling you to do it but like....we're not...going to stop you..."

cue curan revolting against the royal family, rallying the other three factions to their side, and. very nearly destroying elysium. well understandably, the king was...not happy about this. even less happy was he about the ghost soldiers returning after they died to continue the fight.

so he called on jurat to develop a type of serum that through science mumbo jumbo, basically blocked the ability to see starclan from the cats brains. and if starbright cant be seen, then they cant be believed in and they can't actually help manipulate the living world anymore.

so then, with the ghosts out of the way, the king rallied the rest of the factions against curan and sent them all into an arena with the cities best warriors. he had all but seven of curan's members slaughtered, and then used up the rest of the serum as a double dosage on them. however, due to the radiation in the world, one of the surviving seven was immune to the serum (because plot armor or smth idk), and after he allowed them to continue to serve as the cities doctors and rebuild curan, that cat shared the real version of the history with the others.

But because of the serums potancy, the king passed along instructions to his heirs to keep it in production. This worked for about six hundred years, until a particularly forgetful king managed to lose the serum's recipe. the following year, curan figured out how to reopen a connection to starbright during the solstices. theyve not yet figured out the key to opening it all the time, and being able to truly reconnect with the ancestors however. what they need is to get *more* of the city to remember starbright, because of how tattered the mortal and immortal planes' connections became, they need to have the city unified to re-tether their "physical" forms.
