"Shrooms?" Bellona asked, a wrinkle of her nose indicating her displeasure. "Think I'll pass on this clearly thrilling endeavor and stay here, don't take too long lover," she told him with a flick to the underside of his chin with her tail. Nero made a noise of amusement, giving the black Lambie a gentle nudge before striding off into the woods in search of the so-called Singing Willows. Since could trees sing? Did they actually sing or was it more of a "the wind blows through at a specific angle and makes it seem like the trees sing kind of deal?"

Nero sighed, Grimm seemed ready to warn of the forests various landmarks and or dangers in the case of whatever a Singing Cuttlebeak was. He kind of hoped he could meet one if just so he could beat it off and return with the moonshrooms and an impressive story to impress Bellona with. Still, though, Nero didn't feel that dire of a need, it felt like more of a passing interest rather than truly necessary. So he pressed onward, wings idly extended outward so the feathers could lightly brush the trunks of the trees. He wasn't quite paying attention to the type of trees so when a slight vibration traveled up his feathers Nero jumped. It was then the blue Lambicorn realized he had come to the so-called Singing Willows, it took only a few moments for him to hear the voices. A wordless song filtered through the air, the haunting melody making his hackles stand on end. There was something eerily beautiful about the voices of the willows and Nero had to shake himself slightly in order to look for the caves that Grimm had mentioned would be nearby.

Once located Nero quickly made his way into the caves in search of the Moonshrooms. The soft glow of his wings provided just enough light for Nero to see by, allowing him to navigate the tunnels with a fair amount of ease. Moonshrooms, much like their namesake shone softly in the dark and Nero quickly gathered a few, putting them gently into the bag he carried. He made his way back through the tunnels, hooves clicking against the stone as he trotted back to the entrance. Soft flashing colours caused Nero to burst into a run, he had what he'd come for and was in no mood to mess with the Cuttlebeak. The song of the willows followed him as he raced, their voices much the same as when he'd first found them.

Nero skidded to a halt once he reached the jagged stones where Grimm waited, plonking the bag in front of the masked Lambicorn before returning to the waiting black lambicorn.

Nero had been relaxing when Grimm had come to stand in front of him, the masked lambie towering over the blue male who huffed in displeasure at the berating he received upon expressing his annoyance at yet another task. Grimm's stature meant nothing to Nero and he simply glowered up at the massive figure.

"Alright alright I'll get you the damn flower" Nero snapped and rose from his place on the floor. Intent on heading into the forest once again to go and eventually throw himself at the massive tree Grimm had spoken of, Bellona had risen from her place by him and followed by air. Flying low enough so she could avoid the worst of the branches, he felt only the barest flicker of irritation that she was not bound by the same rules that kept him from flying. Though Grimm had not specified this time that flying was not allowed, Nero had simply assumed as much.

"I wasn't exactly listening when big and grumpy yelled about what you were supposed to do next, where exactly are we going?" Came the question as Bellona landed quietly and easily began keeping pace with Nero.

"To some valley beyond the woods" Nero murmured in reply, he received a noise of confirmation so the pair merely continued their journey in search of the valley. The trees gradually giving way to an opening that led down into the valley proper.

"Something tells me only you're supposed to go down into that valley, lover. I'll wait here for you to return" Bellona mumbled, idly rubbing her cheek against his before settling down on the forest floor. With a nod, Nero darted down into the valley, his paws and hooves surprisingly finding purchase on the grassy slope as he moved down into the valley itself. His hunt for the large tree and subsequently the Aurorae's Heart just now beginning properly. It took him some time to come upon the tree that towered over its leafy brethren and with a noise of annoyance he broke into a run slowly gathering speed. Until he rammed into the trunk at the maximum speed he could manage, he hit the trunk with force and stumbled backward. Mistaking the groan from the tree to be one of it beginning to collapse when it was merely the trunk parting to create an opening, bark, and wood parting to reveal a tunnel. One just big enough to admit him and only him, as made obvious when the opening closed behind him after he slipped inside.

Nero found the wooden tunnel to be warm and almost comforting with the soft glow of his wings lighting the way, paws and hooves both making soft echoes as they met the wood below them. Wood gave way to grass of a strange blue-grey colour that felt far softer than any other kind Nero had ever encountered. Blood red flowers with heart-shaped petals and a striking electric blue center seemed to turn his way if he turned his head. Nero felt them to be much more than mere flowers and paid the one he plucked utmost respect as he removed it from the others. A sigh seemed to ripple through the grass and flowers alike, causing Nero to back slowly out through the tunnel, whatever spirit or being made its home in or around the tree? Nero was not interested in tangling with it.

Nero felt returning in a timely manner with the flower would be better than wasting time trying to look at the scenery the glacial valley provided. The journey back up the slope seemed entirely more daunting than it going down, still, Nero simply steeled himself and began moving upward at a steady pace. He found Bellona waiting at the top, she moved to his side assisting him with the last few meters. Together they left the valley, with only Nero privy to the knowledge of the flower hidden in a box sitting in the top of his bag.

"Let's get back to tall and grouchy" Bellona whispered lightly into Nero's ear, grinning wickedly at his quiet laugh. It didn't take the pair a terribly long time to return to Grimm, where Nero promptly handed the box over after Bellona went and picked a spot for them to rest in.

"I got what you wanted" Nero growled and moved to Bellona's side where he flopped down for a well deserved rest.

These responses are not in chronological order oops
If you fufilled two prompts the responses are at different times. For context on their mood look around at the other replies (I'm sorry nothing is cohesive right now as I am so tired from work today)

Moonshroom starts (grow moonshrooms on your lambies back)
Skull mask (now you can be just like Grimm!)
Wisp friend (gives your lambicorn a wisp follower)
Glowmoss face paint (glowing markings)
Star dust rings (gives your lambie a halo of stardust)

Grimm hastily takes your blocks and stares down your friend. Unlike the other lambicorns who had returned before you, you seem to have caught their ire. They silently swish their tail a few times, wisps flickering violently. The pulsing wisps charge towards you and pull a small box of glowing blue filiments. (Moonshroom starts x1)

Grimm stares at you after your scathing remark. You are reminded once more of how large they are when they move you aside with a hoof. Around them the wisps are still pulsing violently from their earlier fit of rage. “I tolerated you’re little friend earlier, she’s been most helpful to my cause, however it seems she has distracted you from efficiently completing your tasks. Do not let this happen again, or there will be consequences.” Grimm violently yanks the flower from you and you are pushed back to Bellona. A large ball of green flame, not unlike a wisp, is violently thrown at you, landing right at your feet the fire abates into a small animal skull. What did Grimm make this from… it looks very… lambicorn-ish. (x1 Skull mask)

lilpupin wrote:@lilpupin
Grimm’s magic quickly removes the moonshrooms from the ground. You note they seem slightly more agitated than usual, their tail twitching back and forth causing loud echoing cracks. Grimm collects themself a moment later “You continue to impress me little one. Your determination is admirable.” As soon as they’ve thanked you however, they return to their agitated state, leaving the wisps to grant you a prize. They drop a small bag of glowing goo into your hoofs and retreat back to their master. (glowmosss facepaint x 1)

When you return with your flower Grimm already seems to be in a sour mood. They’re agitated and smacking the ground with their large tail, causing the ground to shake violently. After you ask your question Grimm snorts impatiently “What a shame… I was starting to like you child. Must you stick your snout where it has no buisness being? Do you question my motives perhaps?” Their voice echos as they rise. Then as quickly as the rage had come, it vanishes. Grimm sighs “Be on your way child.” One of their wisps splits in two and the smaller half floats towards you. (1x wisp friend)

makoto kino wrote:@makoto kino
As you arrive you notice another lambicorn retreating to their spot carrying a shiny bag. Grimm takes your moonshrooms with a quick pull of magic. They loom over you momentarily before moving their giant head down to your own level. “As you have survived the cuttle beak, I have faith in your abilities to complete the next task as well.” The wisps still pulse violently as they approach but as they haven’t hurt your fellow teammates you aren’t too worried. They drop a small golden box onto your head, when you open it you see fine glowing dust. (stardust rings x1)
——
Before you can drop the flower, Grimm has already snatched it. They watch you yawn with interest. You worry they may yell at you or even… harm you for your disrespect. Instead you scamper off without a comment or any nasty magic being thrown at you. After you fall asleep a small blanket appears and covers you. The wisps gently set down a small bag of glowing goo next yo your sleeping form.

Grimm takes the flower from the ground and shoes you away. You’re not sure what you did to piss them off, though it doesn’t seem like it’s just you they’re mad at. You note the other lambicorns around you seem equally startled from their own encounters with Grimm, with exception perhaps to the sleeping lambicorn in the corner. The wisps once again charge at you and bestow a small gold box. (1x stardust rings)

I'm retriving the eye crystal
Username Makoto Kino

A shimmering space, fuzzy with stardust and cool breezes, soft puffy clouds all about. A voice- faint, lilting but strangely chilling, a figure nearly as tall as Grimm and with near many as eyes. Something about moss, at the edge of a bog-

‘You’re here too?’

The scene shifts. He’s in the marsh again, not so far from- it is, he thinks. Near the lake, that very first task- how long ago was that? It feels like it’s been ages, yet so short. Novaria stared about, trying to recall- moss, that’s what he’s here for, his paws scooping the stuff up, how funny the green looked against-

Orange? (‘Well yeah orange, I have everything /but/ green I think-‘)

And he’s before the titan again, the moss almost torn from his paws before things return to normal. She speaks again, garbled and slow, was her voice so deep? Something about activities becoming more visible, crystals and eyes? The clouds flicker dark again, reflecting violet and cyan and green and he feels so heavy-

(‘Nova- wait, you’re here-‘)

“-I do not intend to move from this bog, I feel extra measures must be taken.” Novaria’s eyes flew open and he scrambled to his feet. More struggling for a moment, before he realized it was... a blanket? No time to wonder now- night had fallen, and another task was being set. He snatched up his bag and joined the others, a twinge of fear pulsing in his chest as Grimm continued. To make it to a place called the Cave of Eyes, and retrieve a crystal.

Just like- Tera! The two had bumbled into each other’s dreams before, that must have been it. And before the sign ups-

”Nah Nova, it’ll be great!” Tera laughed, looking over the forms. “Look, everyone expects you to be all nice sweet dreams and I’m the nightmare fuel, so let’s throw ‘em, eh?”

“You join team Dream, I go for Nightmare?” Novaria hummed under his breath, tapping a hoof against the floor. “Might be fun.” He grinned, nudging Tera’s shoulder. “You’re just convincing me to do this so you don’t have to face Grimm, huh? Yeah, sure, I’ll do it. See who’s the bravest- guy going somewhere that makes cotton candy look dull, or the one walking into the literal nightmare swamp.”

Novaria would have to apologize later- frankly, Grimm had been downright pleasant compared to the feeling he’d gotten from... what was her name? He’d figure it out later. Maybe ask Tera- after all, it sounded like they were going to the same place...

At least there weren’t any Cuttlebeaks this way. Novaria edged along the rocky path- okay, ‘path’ was generous. ‘Perilously narrow ridge’ was more like it, every step led to a tiny crumble from the flinty edge; only the fear that stopping for any real length of time would lead to collapse kept him pushing forward. Questions like ‘how do I get back up there with a watermelon sized crystal’ were for future Novaria.

The ridge finally widened, enough that Novaria could take up a more normal pace to the rough ground below. This was about where had been marked on the map, but... it was kind of a really flat space. Maybe he’d gotten the directions wrong? He did have a tendency to confuse his directions some, but he’d been so sure-

It was like before- here was ground, then there wasn’t. Unlike before, there was no one to save Novaria’s tail but himself.

And unlike before, this was a small hole as opposed to an entire cliff edge, so saving himself was as simple as taking a step back. Novaria sank to his belly, crawling slightly forward to get a better look. There was a distinct green shine all over, glowmoss covering... well, he couldn’t tell, exactly. But it looked like a lot. And within the green, just at the furthest edge of what he could see, Novaria could swear he saw a hint of yellow.

The hole seemed just large enough for a Lambicorn to squeeze into.

Novaria slowly lowered himself down, carefully testing with his hind feet for any sign of a foothold or ledge, perhaps even the bott- ah! He was nearly the entire way in, only his snout and front paws left above the rim. His back legs were stretched out a far as they could go, but one hoof sank, safe and sound within the moss.

The remainder of Novaria followed shortly.

—-

Novaria crept through the low tunnel, glad for the thick moss that coated it throughout. Sure, the green was a bit hard on the eyes, but it was nice to see the way ahead nice and clear. Slowly, the tunnel grew wider, the moss patchier...

He paused, ears swivelling at the faint tapping coming from some ways ahead. Two softer clicks, two louder taps, and in the mingled yellow and green, a new color shone on the walls, a blinding violet-

“Nova!”

Tera’s grin glowed almost as bright as he did, as he rounded the corner and came face to face with Novaria. “Man-“

“I hoped you’d be here!” Novaria laughed, leaping forward and giving his friend a brief hug. “I think your dreams ran into mine- you were in the bog yesterday, weren’t you?”

Tera modded. “Wound up here actually, Nai’a wanted a bunch of that moss. I kinda got turned around-“
“Oh don’t blame me,” Byte grumbled. It was impressive how a tailbeast could give such an air of crossing its arms, considering it had none.
“You were supposed to keep an eye out for landmarks to the lake!” Tera shook his head. “Anyway, point is, we got lost and fell into this hole. But we got the moss, so all’s well, and we kinda had a head start on tonight!”

“Geez,” Novaria said, shaking his head. “Sounds like you’re getting worked as hard as we are... hey, were you told to run headfirst into a tree, too?”

“Oh yeah,” Tera grinned. “I mean, she told us it was a portal, but-“

“We didn’t even get that! Grimm just said, ‘when you see a huge tree, run into it.’ “

Tera laughed. “Yeah, figured. But sounds about right for a nightmare lots, huh? What’re they like, anyway? Cause Nai’a’s like- /creepy/, man, she seems all nice and sweet but like she’s really annoyed by it. Creepiest smile I’ve ever seen.” His grin faded, briefly, and it seemed to Novaria that he seemed... rather exhausted in that moment. “Anyway. Bet your bonehead’s scarier.”

“They’ve been pretty nice, honestly,” Novaria shrugged. He was silent, mulling over the last little while as they passed a thick cluster of pulsing orange crystals, each nearly as large as Novaria or Tera themselves. “They’re tough, but... sincere. You know what you’re getting.

“... I think they gave me a blanket last night. I kind of... collapsed. After getting the flower. I thought they’d be angry, like- I just mumbled and yawned at them! It was so rude! But they didn’t... say anything, and then I wake up with this blanket I didn’t bring, yknow?”

Tera modded.

The silence was just on the edge of bearable, but Novaria wasn’t sure what else to say, and he knew better than to break Tera’s pensive moments. Instead, they journeyed through the twisting cave until they reached a chamber full of gold-bright gems, a number broken and scattered over the floor. Roughly watermelon sized, just as Grimm had said.

“... this is all just... a scavenger hunt game. Right?” Tera said quietly, setting a paw on one of the closest gems. “Just something for prizes and fun?”

“I like to hope so,” Novaria said. Despite the barren stone walls, his voice sounded as if the room was utterly shrouded in moss. “I keep wanting to ask, but... I don’t think I want to know. Not unless there’s no choice. Because whatever it is, it probably goes... well. If it’s got Nai’a and Grimm this concerned.”

“That’s fair.” Tera’s horn glowed, and one of the stones rose into the air, surrounded by a brilliant pink energy. Another was enveloped by seafoam blue, and floated to Novaria’s side.

“I’m glad we got to meet up,” Novaria ventured, offering a small smile.

“Same here.” Tera still seemed... less vibrant than usual, but he managed a smile all the same. “Come on, I know how to get out of here without having to climb back through that hole. Shouldn’t take long.”

—-

It wasn’t long at all- indeed, they emerged not far from the lake where the first task had been. Tera ran off towards... well, wherever the Dream camp was, Novaria supposed. He, meanwhile, made his way up the more familiar path, setting the stone at Grimm’s feet.

“I did want to apologize for yesterday,” he added, glancing up to his leader’s towering form. “It... it was rude. And sloppy too, pushing myself that hard, especially when... well, it seems like there’s a lot going on. I’ll make sure I keep myself ready and able to help out with whatever’s going on.”

Nero regarded Grimm silently, his earlier antics seemed to have angered the larger Lambicorn on top of what was already going on and that had unsettled the blue male. That and the fact that the entire bog had been flashing that sickly shade of green. Nero rose once the instructions had been given, moving off into the forest without a glimpse back to the jagged stones. His pace increased from a steady trot to a full-blown gallop as he moved through the forest, ignoring the way the trees seemed to reach out in attempts to grab him. Nero didn't flinch as a particularly thin branch whipped a line of burning pain across his face, merely kept his pace as he continued in his hunt for the Cave of Eyes.

Nero stumbled across the cave almost completely by accident, ducking inside to start the search for the melon-sized crystals Grimm had insisted upon. The larger crystals twinkled and winked under the glow of Nero's wings, casting strange glitter shapes upon the walls all while concentrating the fact that Nero could swear he felt eyes upon him. The echoes of a sharp yelp bounced off the walls right as something collided quite harshly into Nero's left side, almost sending him to the floor. Purple eyes made contact with fiery orbs right as their owner made a noise of displeasure.

"Oh goody, it's you" Rosa huffed flipping her long ombre hair away from her face as she rose from the floor. "Why would I have to run into you here of all places?" Came the snippy comment as she wound her way past Nero, face blank.

"What's to bet you're here for the exact same reason I am, looking for a crystal about this big?" Nero poised the question as he patted the oddly eye like crystal she'd knocked him toward. Rosa's eyes narrowed.

"Indeed, Nai'a asked for a crystal of those exact dimensions" was the cautious reply. Nero pondered why both Grimm and Nai'a wanted the exact same and size type of crystal, was it possible that things were much more complicated than the "teams" thought? A scowl formed on his face as he scooped up the crystal he had previously pointed out.

"Rosa, there's another crystal like this just over there but be careful, I think something is coming that's bigger than either of us know" Nero warned. Something Rosa found incredibly ominous as she watched him leave the cave, a shiver running down her spine at his words. The crystal lay cradled between Nero's wings and he paused every so often in his haste to return to Grimm to make sure it was stable. Doing his best to protect the pristine surface from oddly claw-like branches. Nero skidded to a halt outside of the circle and carefully picked his way over to Grimm who stood stock still like some sort of ominous dark statue. The blue lambicorn plucked the crystal from between his wings, placing it at Grimm's hooves and making a quick retreat.

Sue's usual confident grin is gone as she comes up to Grimm, instead replaced by a somber if not somewhat nervous expression as she waits for the team captain to be finished discussing with the wisps. She listened dutifully, doing her best not to seem concerned by the elder's words. Something had upset the giant Lambicorn, which was more than worrisome. What had Sue gotten herself into?

She glanced at the arrow of wisps - no map this time? - before nodding. "Aye, captain." She didn't particularly like calling another 'captain', but when they could step on you and not even notice, it was best to be as cordial as one could. She rose to her feet and trotted away, beginning the long journey to the Cave of Eyes. At least, it would have been a fairly long journey, had Sue not elected to fly as soon as the bog was out of sight. Grimm hadn't said anything about not flying, but they did say they wanted this done quickly. So, at the very least, Sue would fly there. They'd be getting their crystal either way, so as far as Sue was concerned, Grimm could shut up about it if they didn't like it.

Sue lighted down just a few yards away from the cave, deciding it best to walk there in case any of her teammates had made it already. The cave was filled with crystals that were oddly familiar looking, though the most striking of all of them were large and oval-shapped and growing all up the walls. The largest she could see was nearly four times her size, though the smallest was, like Grimm has said, about the size of a melon. A few of her teammates had made it to the cave before her, but more surprising than that, there were quite a number of lambicorns there that Sue didn't recognize. She noticed them giving her and the other Team Nightmare lambicorns some odd looks over their shoulders, though a few from her team still talked and worked the others without care. It was strange there were other lambicorns in the cave, though. Why were they in such a remote place?

Suddenly, Sue herself spotted a familiar face in the group. "Elvira!" A golden lambicorn shot their head up, then duck their head when they spotted Sue. Sue trotted over, her brows furrowed. "What are you doing here?" She asked firmly. "Why aren't you on the ship?"

"Oh, you jus' sounded like you were havin' so much fun, Captain." Elvira replied. Sue rolled her eyes. Yeah, fun. "Aileen said I could join you, but the queen of dreams came to me in my dreams before I could find you or the bog."

"And so now you're... in a cave?" Sue pressed, raising an eyebrow at her crewmate.

"I'm on team dream now - Nai'a sent us to get some crystals." Elvira explained. "To, uh, keep us hidden."

Sue's eyes widened with realization. "Grimm sent us to get crystals too. They thought we had been noticed - I bet they're to hide us too."

Elvira hummed in response, turning to look at some lambicorns awkwardly carrying the large crystals. " 'S strange, but those crystals, they remind me of one 'a my teammates eyes..."

"You lookin' into your teammate's, El?" Sure asked playfully. "Do I need ta meet this mysterious someone?"

Elvira shoved Sue. Hard. "Not like that. They're giant - I think they're another elder."

"Another elder? Workin' for Nai'a?"

Elvira nodded. "And their eyes are the exact same color as those crystals there." She nodded for the oval gemstones on the walls of the cave. Suddenly, Sue knew why they were so familiar: she had seen a strange lambicorn that matches the colors of the crystals in the caves in the bog of nightmares, but only twice. Elvira was right in saying their eyes did look similar to the gemstones they had both been sent to gather. But, if that strange lambicorn was on team dream, then why were they in the Bog of Nightmares?

Sue shook her head. "There's somethin' strange goin' on here. This ain't just a fun festival game. Not anymore." She looked up at the eye-like crystals in the wall. Did they see her too? We're leavin' if anythin' else strange happens."

"Yes, captain." Responded Elvira dutifully, though both she and Sue knew that the mystery was far too interesting to abandon just yet. That, and their team captains may or may not chase them down.

Together, the two crewmates helped one another pry a gemstone of the right size from the cave walls before going separate ways back to their respective teams. By the time Sue hag carried the massive crystal all the way back to the Bog of Nightmares, she was exhausted. Her back ached from carrying that massive rock all the way back. It was all she could do not to plop on the ground as soon as she was before Grimm, though she did dump the gemstone to the ground rather unceremoniously. She was silent as they went over what their teammates brought back, but spoke up as Grimm was looking over her gem.

"Yer sparkly friend is on Team Dream." Sue sounded just as exhausted as she felt, but her voice was firm. "There's something you aren't tellin' us. You Elders are always so secretive with us standards; what are you hiding?" She stood firm before the massive lambicorn.

There was something not quite right about this, something the others were not explaining or telling. Something Grimm was keeping to themselves. It raised a hundred questions in Sunfire's mind, but those questions she dared not ask their host directly! No, better to maybe let one of the others ask, or ask when the time presented itself proper. As the next task was explained, she bowed her head a slight. "Yes Sir, on my way!" She reassured, following the direction the wisps had laid out for her.

Was it odd that by now though the wisps were not scary to her? And the bog was... less unsettling. She shrugged it off, determination in her expression. She had a job to do and the thinking could wait until later! A few of her teammates had gone ahead already after all! She could not fly in the traditional way, but she could use her magic to hasten her steps. And thusly she did, only slowing down once she was close to the cavern....

Others were indeed here, many others. Using some shade to cloak herself, she opted to see what she might learn. And sure enough, the other team was here as well... for the same reasons. A way to keep hidden... how strange. Why would they need to... hmmm. Well. The answers would be clear soon enough anyways right? Taking in a deep breath, she waited until the others were gone before making her way inside. So many gems! She stared in awe at the rocks of various sizes, admittedly wishing some of them could be made into fine accessories be it bangles or earrings!

...Focus Sunfire, focus! She finds a smaller gem, the promised melon size, and uses her magic to carefully lift it away. Almost expecting a trap but knowing after watching the others there were none. Keeping it safe from traveling harm, it was admittedly exhausting to keep the spell holding it aloft going for so long. But through perseverance, she eventually makes it back towards Grimm.

"One gem delivered, apologies for the delay," she tells him, head bowed as she carefully sets the gem down.

@makoto kino you figure Grimm must have a soft spot for you as all they do is nod gently and take the gem from you. “ you have done well for yourself child. Perhaps it was I who has worked you too hard.” They turn the stone over again and again, studying it. It seems they have some connection to it. “thank you” you think you hear, but Grimm wouldn’t have said that… Grimm had never thanked you once, or even acknowledged your efforts. But there isn’t anyone else around to have said it…. You wander off awaiting the wisps to grant you your prize. As expected the wisps swoop down and grant you a small glowing bag of glowmoss facepaint (Glowmoss facepaint x1)

queen vivane wrote:@queen vivane “You saw others at the cave did you not?” Grimm’s voice booms at you before you can finish your retreat. “The ‘queen’ has sent her minions to retrieve crystals from the same place and none of you thought to tell me?” Grimm all but screams, causing the entire bog to glow a caustic green. They take a large breath, and, after an exhale of green smoke, they calm enough to speak in a normal tone. “I suppose you all must have thought it a funny coincidence, despite it being our third meeting with them.” They shoo you off with their tail as another lambicorn enters the clearing. Near your seat the wisps have left a small glowing bag of paint (x1 glowmoss facepaint)

echoire wrote:@echoire You can’t read Grimm from below the mask, but their body has tensed and the wisps flash green for only a moment. Then they relax and move their head down to your level. they speak in hushed tones that sound almost like the hisses of beasts found in your nightmares “I would be very careful in poking my nose where it does not belong if I were you child. I am grateful for your loyalty but it would be prudent of you to remember your place.” You didn’t ask any big questions, but maybe the “you elders” and “what are you hiding” had rubbed them the wrong way. Either way the whole thing rubs you the wrong way and you quickly move away from them, the wisps drop a small creature’s skull onto the ground before you… is this a warning? (x1 Skull mask)

@Griff By the time you arrive Grimm has already retreated to their pile of rubble. They seem to have calmed down a bit from their earlier outburst and accept the gem without much fuss. They nod at you and ask “Was your trip eventful?” They seem to be waiting for you to tell them something but you aren’t sure what…. maybe the dream players? You try that and Grimm hums in agreement “At least one of you bothered to tell me, though it took more prodding than it ought have.” They sigh and push you away ,loosing themselves in thought. The wisps struggle under the weight of a large box and drop it unceremoniously at your feet. (x1 stardust rings)

A new day
Image

After a long day of walking and carrying crystals on your back you fall into an easy sleep. The dream seems normal, but you quickly realize something is amiss. The sky morphs between neon hues every few seconds, though that isn’t even the strangest thing about it, it would seem the sky is below you and you are walking upside down. Pieces of the ground crumble and fall around you, disappearing into the violent sky. As you keep walking you see eyes floating, a tea set pouring water out of a hare, a rabbit and a man with a hat. The sun and moon constantly switch from being present to entirely disappearing. Finally you come to the center of this strange world to see a familiar lambicorn elder. You stare into the yellow eyes of Lambent and you notice that they match perfectly with the crystals in the cave you retrieved yesterday.
“I grow tired of them hurting each other. They know not what they seek, they know only what they have been led to believe from petty rumors and their own self doubt.”
Lambent pauses, you note for the first time that Lambent is bigger than Nai’a or Grimm, and up close, the rocks that form their skin shift with the lava underneath.

“If you tire of this ceasless war as I do, perhaps you will join me in a bit of respite. Today I ask only that you make the journey to 'Dawn’s edge' to meet with me. I would allow you to stay here and explain more but my dreams are far from stable, and the longer you remain here the more likely you are to loose your sanity.”
A plume of purple smoke fills the dream and you wake up coughing. When you look down you see you are coughing out the same purple smoke. Lambent was right, their dreams were dangerous.
You also find a small map tucked between your paws, and through various neon scribbles and 80s slang you are able to make out how to reach this ‘Dawn’s Edge'
