Workshop One - Day Two ExerciseKalon Name: Pembe
Link to Kalon: viewtopic.php?f=103&t=3080434#p100842551Write about a time when your Kalon(s) lost something important or someone close to them:When Kelton ran away from home at the age of fifteen, it crushed Pembe.
She'll never forget the raw terror, and heartbreak, and panic, and misery she felt staring after the disappearing shape on the horizon. The letter in her paws fluttered to the ground. It took an hour before her voice gave out and her violent weeping became eerily silent. Jay held her, but it didn't matter. Kelton was gone.
She didn't sleep for the next thirty seven hours. Phone calls were made, meetings were scheduled, authorities were notified. Her voice was hoarse, unrecognizable to even herself. Countless more years were shed. Nothing felt right, and time eventually smoothed into a numb cycle. Call, speak, hang up, sit, wait, cry. Rinse and repeat. Her children, Kelton's siblings, were scared. She was terrified.
Together she and Jay tried to figure out what had gone so wrong. Many long tiring hours of desperate discussion, fueled by caffeine and exhausted fear, left them empty of energy. The authorities were doing all they could.
Even now, curled by the fire with Kelton relaxing on her left, she remembers the cold void of impossible stress. Turning, she lets her head thump lightly against the carpeted floor, and as she drifts back into peaceful slumber, her eyes flicker open just long enough to catch Kelton's form draped across the plush chair. She'll never forget the terror, and the heartbreak, and the misery. She'll never forget what it felt like to be a mother without a child.
oookaay that was depressing. whoops.

Workshop One - Day Two ExerciseKalon Name:Kyandi
Link to Kalon:xWrite about a time when your Kalon(s) lost something important or someone close to them:When Kyandi lost her cupcake charm bracelet, she was heart-broken. She had it since she was 5,and it was very important to her. She looked everywhere for it, it was usually in her drawer. But when she checked, it was gone, making her search the entire house for it, but was never able to find it. She was in tears for days, and took a break from baking for a while.

Workshop One - Day Two Exercise
Kalon Name: Seaway
Link to Kalon: LINKWrite about a time when your Kalon(s) lost something important or someone close to them: Ramble about how Seaway reacted after Evanish, vanished. This is so incredibly vague, but I don't want to reveal much about Evanish and Seaway's story since I plan to write it out one of these days.
The idea that he was not coming back was a foreign concept. It was not something he had ever thought possible, that one day Evanish would follow his namesake and disappear. Seaway was confused at first, it had come as a shock. The news, his actions, how much of it made sense and yet he couldn’t help but doubt it all. Even as the news replayed the event, it was nothing but noise that numbed him. He stared blankly at the TV from where he sat in an empty kitchen, there was no one but him now and it stung his heart.
They had been a pair for some time, partners in crime – no. Not that. They were gossiping hens and nothing more, but Seaway would never commit a crime and that was possibly why he had never known, never realized, what Evanish was capable of. Seaway gritted his teeth and stared instead down at his coffee cup, consisting mostly of grinds that were room temperature, a dark sludge that stared back up at him. A sludge he felt inside of him. He felt betrayed and forgotten, unneeded and unwanted. He was horrified for some time, he felt sick to his stomach. He was angry and he wanted to yell at someone, to yell out something, something to help him be free of this feeling inside of him. Most of all he wanted to understand why. Why was he filled with a pit of loneliness now? Would he have wished to remain at Evanish’s side, despite what he had done? Was this a feeling of uncertainty, of no longer being able to trust anyone if his best friend had betrayed him so?
His best friend. The first friend that had spoken the truth to his face yet had held the biggest lie right under his nose. Seaway thought about the time he had first obtained the name Seaway and now it felt wrong to call himself that, that was the name Evanish had given him. No, Quin had given him. Were they no longer friends, no longer able to call each other by the names they had once fondly given each other? Seaway. Peers Myles. He was Peers now, he should lay claim to his name now. Quin was no longer his friend and he was now alone and it pierced him so. Quin was wrong, Evanish. Evanish was the correct name, Peers was wrong, Seaway was right. This was a fallacy of a fool, is what Seaway believed in that very moment. He hardly knew what the statement meant yet Evanish had stated it once. A long time ago. It didn’t matter if Evanish was gone now and that Seaway was left alone. He would continue on, forever changed by the influence Evanish had on him. He would not become the same as Evanish, no, he would be stronger and sure, he hoped to fix the wrongs Evanish had done. But how?
The idea haunted him then as he stared back across to the mumbling TV, how could he possibly pretend to be alright with all of this? He wondered if it would have been better if Evanish had been imprisoned, behind bars, not running free doing what? Seaway let out a sigh, he was sure he had been crying, but in that moment, all felt numb and lifeless, as if a part of him had been torn away, as if everything he had known and trusted was all but a lie. A play that Evanish had put on for his entertainment, but it was all a fallacy. A lie.
Deep in his heart, however, it ached with the idea that perhaps, he would have been happier knowing the truth about Evanish all along, and maybe, just maybe, he could have found it in him to truly be Evanish’s partner in crime. If it meant getting to stand by his side for a longer time.

Workshop Two - Day Two Exercise
Kalon Name: Maryellen Bakker
Link to Kalon: Boop
Write about a time when your Kalon(s) lost something important or someone close to them:
He had...left her.
How could he have just left her?
He had said goodbye, promised to write, promised to convince his parents to take him back to visit soon.
And then he had boarded that plane and flew away. Away from her and the summer they had spent together.
But she had written, as she had promised, she had written him about anything and everything that happened. About the time the delivery company had gone on strike and she and her family had to go collect the chocolate themselves, including so much detail about the different ways one business had made the chocolate (slow churned or roasted and then folded in creme and sugar) and then scoffing about the other plant they had been too which mass produced, little chocolate stamps and branded them as home-made (not including how her family was fine with maintaining that label even after seeing the process). About all the wonky things she was learning about Belgium's politics (which she was utterly fascinated by and assumed he would be too). She even made copies of the history notes she took! All while inscribing in the margins little things like I miss you, You should come visit and see in person, The neighbors are wondering where you are- so am I.
But while letter after letter after letter was sent, letter after letter after letter received no reply.
She held out hope though- it was likely they just weren't reaching him, he did travel an awful lot. And everyone knew how unreliable the post could be. He was probably thinking about her just as much as she thought of him and worrying just as much as she about unrecieved letters.
And through all those years as she went from Primary school to Secondary school and grew and grew she imagined him growing besides her. And he had never truly left her because he was always on her mind and in her heart.
No, he had never truly left her until he came back.
It was the teacher who had begun it all, telling the class he had a special announcement for the day. A new student was going to be joining them. She didn't blame the teacher for not having known, he hadn't been around when he had. Well, she didn't blame him much. It was still his fault she was utterly unprepared for his return. When he had walked through the classroom door, blinking around like he wasn't quite sure who caught him and stuffed him in those shiny black shoes, she had nearly fallen out of her chair. He looked so utterly out of place and yet at the same time fitted so seamlessly into the room, recovering fast and greeting the other children wholeheartedly. And they greeted him back just as easily.
The teacher stationed him right next to her (upon further thought she was willing to blame the teacher for everything) and she had been absolutely giddy with excitement. But she managed to contain it, for the most part.
"How have you been Dustin?" She asked, grinning as he smiled back at her.
"Good, really good! Been some places seen some things- great really. The world is so fascinating!"
"It is, it is! Say, do you want to come over after school today? We could hangout and steal chocolate from my dad and stuff!" Just like old times!
"Of course, that sounds great!" She felt pure joy wash over her- thing's were going to be back to normal so quickly, it would be so amazing- "But who are you? I'm Dustin, of course, but you are?"
Her happiness vanished in a flash. He didn't- he didn't know who she was? She stared at him, trying to figure out if he had developed some odd sense of humor over the time they had been apart. But no, Dustin seemed absolutely, genuinely, cheerfully-ly even, to not know who she was!
He had...forgotten her.
How could he just have forgotten her?
"M-maryellen." And then she didn't say another word to him all day.
