Trial Selection: 2) luminescent blue elixir
Optional Blurb: "While green is my favorite color, I have to go with this pretty glowing blue solution."
You approach the stump at the apothecary entrance, noting the shadows crawling along the edges of the roots. They seem to wrap around the opening, seeping into the damp bark as though soaking the very essence of the tree. Even the curtain of ivy appears to dangle limply, leaves drooping solemnly. "Corsica?" your voice echoes down the corridor.
"Wandering foreigner, is that you?" the feline replies, their voice sounding distant hoarse. "I don't have time today, I'm sorry, friend. If you've come with your findings from the elixir samples, just leave a note at the entrance for me. Maybe we can talk more tomorrow... if it gets a little brighter, that is."
The strange feline sounds utterly exhausted; whether from the state of the forest or from their research, you aren't certain. Maybe tomorrow you can get some answers.
A quiet hum resonates from within the hollow, echoing against the bark walls as you enter. Those shadowy depictions from the night prior still linger near the gnarled roots, albeit, seemingly not so ravenous today. A good sign, you hope, as you venture further into the cavern towards the source of the crooning.
Sitting in their usual spot is the red tabby tom, their gaze focused on a tiny pool of beaming light between their paws. There is a calm about them, somehow equal parts unsettling and reassuring in a way only Corsica could accomplish. "Oh, hello again," the feline greets, their voice lighter than it has been in days. Perhaps the neverending night had been taking a toll on the strange cat, more than he had been letting on, at least. "It's great news that the Sun has been found, though, it does make my research much more difficult now." They let out a small sigh, though it doesn't carry the weight of frustration one would expect. It seems almost, hopeful?
"The fae could certainly use some good news. I mean, I'm certain you've seen the state of the forest. It won't be long before every living thing withers away without the sun's light," they nod to themself, confirming their own statement without giving you a chance to reply. "I've actually been experimenting along the Horizon now, until you and your friends can convince Helios to return. I have another batch of seedlings I plan to plant there, but it is quite the journey and I can only carry so many seedlings at a time."
They pause for a moment, turning their body to allow you a better look at the golden pool of light. Floating on the surface of the radiant liquid are several different seedlings, all carefully organized into three distinct circles. "Would you be willing to help me once more and choose one of these seedlings to plant?"
