What do you do now? --
My first instinct would be take a picture of whatever's on my head,
hoping my camera has flash on to light up the area temporarily to take a picture of it,
and hopefully find out what's causing the pain.

I don't include some users' option but I liked the reason and how it would connect to the character. A journalist won't light their equipment on fire though, just a heads up.

Scenarious of what you could do flashes before your eye; one of the trick to being a journalistn You need to survive this after all, so your survival instinct instantly kicks in. Mixing your thoughts together. First, you took our your mug and lighted up a candle, remembering a nifty trick you always did as a kid when blackout happens. As the hot wax drips down, you pool them up on the underside of the mug and slowly insert the lit candle onto the wax puddle, hoping it would stick. It did, and now you have a portable candle. Walk slowly however, if you run it will immediately extinguish. You take the other five candles with you, just incase.

Immediately, your vision was red from whatever liquid draining down your head. You could guess what it is but you need to make sure. Grabbing your camera and turning the flash on, you take a picture of yourself. You look back at it and your suspicion was correct: a wound. You need to tend to it as quickly as possible so you took out your water container and slowly pours it down. You flinch a little at the pain but it had to be done. You look around for any kind of clothes but since there was none, you rip a bit of your own shirt, which isn't that expensive thankfully, and wrapped it around your head carefully. The pain isn't as bad now.

Having a chance to look around you, you see books everywhere. Along with scrolls. If you are still in the mansion, this room was definitely untouched. Curious though, there isn't any dust. Shrugging it off, you think they are in spanish, russian and latin, which you understand since the Viktorovs was quite the family, learning about cultures and sort of like that, it isn't suprising. You'll send a team here when you get out. Hopefully you'll get out anyway.

You considered using the night vision on your camera, having remembered of a game called 'Outlast' but battery wont magically appear so you put the idea at the back of your head, just incase you want to see the dark without notifying anyone or… anything around you.

You slowly walk up the stairs, journalist curiosity kicking in.



Up the stairs seems like a study room, it seems like the door leading to the Archives is made of steel, answering your question how did it survived the fire. The room you're in has seen better days. It looks like a basement made of stone but you see a few burned furnitures here and there.

There's another set of stairs leading up, made of beautifully arranged stones. You ran up, ignoting everything else in the room and manage to almost trip on a book. Up the flight of stairs is the main hall of the mansion. You smiles. You run to the door but it didn't even budge. You know the windows are very thick so you can't break them either. You frown.

You look around the main hall of the mansion. A dried up angel fountain on the center. It looks quite majestic. Two stairs lead up to the bedrooms. Right under both stairs are doors leading to more rooms. You came out from the right one. Down the hallway are two doors, somehow barely surving the fire. You hear a faint whisper upstairs.

Where do you go? Do you investigate the whisper? -- No, don't do it! You still have a bad wound on your head. Even if you didn't, your only light source could kill you if it were tilted the wrong way. Right now you're very vulnerable. Now pull out your journal and sketch a map of where you've been and draw a line to map your path, so you don't get lost. Then skip a few pages (you'll need room for the rest of the map) and make note of the unusual things in the house, for instance the fact that the books are in foreign languages and that there is a room protected by steel. Little oddities might help you later, if anything strange were to occur.

Where do you go? Do you investigate the whisper? -- you're still injured, you probably have a concussion. investigation will have to wait until you've gotten some professional medical treatment. what you need is an exit from this place; your best bet would be down the hall, as you're unlikely to find an exit from the upper floor or the basement. if the doors have been burned, maybe there's a wall gone as well. be careful, walk slowly, and take notice of your surroundings. try to be quiet; whoever knocked you out is probably still lurking here someplace.

I walk to the door; and hold my hand in front of it, checking for fire. Once I know I'm not about to blindly run into an inferno, I then hear a whisper. I try to locate the whisper, by slowing my breathing, then focusing all my energy on my ears.

Investigate the whisper.
Though it might not be the safest option,
there's most likely someone else causing the whispers,
and at the moment,
I need someone to help me find out where I am in the mansion,
and how to escape.
I slowly walk upstairs,
hoping to get at least a glimpse of what's whispering.

Where do you go? Do you investigate the whisper? -- You wonder. Just what is that whisper? A ghostly being, wind coming through a damaged part of the building? Your curiosity may get you hurt again but the thought of discovering what whispering is being caused by is just too tempting. With the candle mug combo held out in front of you, the task of climbing the stairs is less daunting than it would have been had you not been as clever as you are. If the whispering is a ghostly being perhaps it may offer assistance in escaping the mansion, you keep that thought in mind as you creep up the stairs.

You open up your journal and quickly sketched up a map, also saving up a few pages and wrote some notes on a page. While you're at it, you wrote an entry of your experiences so far, just incase something will happen to you. You decided to not investigate the whisper at first and tries to find a way out. Strangely, the windows and doors are boarded up and you don't have the strength to take them off. So, having no other options left you decided to investigate the whispers upstairs, watching your step and try to stay as quietly as possible, not forgetting that there's someone who had attacked you and probably won't hesitate to do it again.

The whispers became louder as you approach the room it came from. They're hushed, slow and mixed whispers that sounds like gibberish. Despite your best effort to keep quiet, the door creaks as you open it. Inside, a faint white glows lays on the floor- it resembles a Sheer. You realize that the whispers are actually very soft singing. You aren't a paranormal journalist but you have a friend who is, the most that yoy know about ghost is that you should never disturb them first. You never actually believed in ghost so that's all you bothered to remember. Scattered on the floor are books that are half-burned, you took the two that have most of the pages still intact. However, as you out the last book inside your bag, the white glow- ghost, notices you-somehow only now despite the door creaking-. You can see it clearly now as it, no, she, stood up in shock. A beautiful Sheer with a long, wavy mane and a styled 'hair'. She dons a beautiful, ghostly dress. She stares and you do the same. This is awkward.
