"Howdy there, thanks for offering to lend a paw. A group of bandits has ambushed some innocent cats venturing into the desert, stealing their supplies and leaving them in rough shape. We've got to get their supplies back, and teach those rogues we ain't gonna tolerate that typa dishonorable behavior. We should probably get as much information from these poor fellas as we can before we start searching."

The scent of old wounds made Crowl's nose crinkle. He recognized Mutt's scent. But there were several others he didn't recognize.
The massive tom padded closer, his tufted ears pricked with interest. His gaze trailed over the group, taking in their sorry state. How big a group were they squaring up against? He returned Mutt's greeting with a nod of his own.
"It's no trouble. I wish I'd known sooner."
The sight of the bedraggled group made his fur prickle. His grey gaze softened in sympathy. No good rogues..."I'm not about to tolerate anything like this. They'll learn quick this isn't how we do things here." Crowl paused, assessing the group before facing Mutt again. "Just tell me what you need. I'll see it done."

"Much obliged," Mutt said quietly, voice roughened by dust and heat. "Means more'n you know."
One of the injured cats shifted behind him, wincing. "I don't know how many there were; it happened so fast," the cat spoke wearily. "We were heading south, just past the rock formation over there, when we heard a voice calling for help. We went to check it out, and they ambushed us. They must have been hiding in the rocks... then they just vanished."
"We're gonna have to track 'em down and deal with them." A faint, dangerous edge crept into Mutt's tone. "How we do that… well. I reckon we'll decide once we see what kind of cats we're dealin' with. I'll let you take the lead on this. What should we do first?"

Talonclaw approached Mutt with a respectful nod, “Breezeclan doesn’t look kindly to bandits, cowards who prey on the weak” he spat as he looked upon the injured cats tending their wounds. He took a step closer, “alright, start talking, how many, where’d they come from and which way they go?” He rattled off, his voice tense and his claws tightened, he was already prepared for a fight. His tail flicked with impatience and the cats turned at him, their eyes wide and slightly nervous.
“Hey, easy now, they’ve been through enough already, no need to frighten them even more,” a much softer voice came from behind Talonclaw. His mate, Willowmist brushed up against his side and wrapped her tail around his, and his demeanour softened in response and his claws relaxed.
Talonclaw let out a slow breath, his body relaxed but the fire in his eyes did not waver, “you are safe now, help us and we will make sure those filthy bandits don’t hurt you or anyone else again.” His eyes trailed off behind them into the desert, “the longer we wait… the further they get.”

Crowl gave it some thought, furrowing his brow and hollowing his cheeks. The rogues were taking whatever supplies these cats had. He didn't want to risk them losing anything more, especially in the state they were in.
"Let the injured recover at my camp. While we're there, we'll take some of my supplies," he rumbled, tilting his head back the way he'd come, "and use it as bait. Like drawing a badger from its hole, they'll come. Let them take it, then follow the scent back to their hideout. We can see about setting up an ambush of our own, and driving these bullies out once and for all."

It was a familiar sight. Cats huddled together, wounded, afraid. It dredged up memories she tried her best to forget. The calico hadn't exactly planned on coming upon this scene. They had taken a detour through the Red Sun to avoid The Crescent. Some things were better left alone. Now she found herself facing what felt like her own past. The fur along her spine bristled, and their green eyes were fixed a little too intently. There was an unreadable expression on their face.
"I can't.. but I will keep my eyes open. I will pass along what information I find." their voice was low, just above a whisper, "I struck across that merchant. Packed enough supplies before I left. I'll.. leave what I bought. They need water. And poultices. It isn't much, but it's something immediate."

Looking around at the injured cats before them, Ferretfang felt smaller than ever. Maybe this wasn’t a good idea, maybe they shouldn’t have come... No, they were here already, no sense in turning back. It would have been a waste of a trip and a waste of herbs.
"Um, of course," they said, setting their bundle of plants and cobwebs down at their paws. "I, uh, brought some stuff for bleeding, just in case, um..." The young cat trailed off, feeling foolish, then picked up the herbs again to offer them to the wounded cats. When they had heard they'd be helping Mutt get rid of some bandits, they had only gathered yarrow and cobwebs for quick and simple wound care. I really should have brought more, probably some for pain, for infection maybe...
"Where were you when you were attacked, exactly?" Ferretfang asked the group, interrupting their own thoughts.
AstroCat wrote:One of the injured cats stepped forward, giving Talonclaw a grateful nod. "We met a stranger just as we reached the desert, he offered to guide us. He seemed friendly enough..." the cat trailed off, glancing down at their paws. "We followed him for a bit when all of a sudden he just vanished in the rocks over yonder. Then out of nowhere, a bunch of cats appeared. It happened so fast, we couldn't defend ourselves."
Mutt shook his head in disbelief. "Hard to believe some cats are so dishonorable," he muttered, then glanced over at Talonclaw. "What do you reckon we should do first?"
