Name: Ada Douglas
Teacher or Student?: Teacher. Teaches Biology, also coaches the swim team and has a hiking club
Age: 25
Gender: cisgender female
Species: Selkie, an Irish/Scottish merperson who has the alternate skin of a seal, which they can put on and take off at will. Legend has it that if a person takes a Selkie's skin, the Selkie will have to marry them. Here she is as a seal
Sexuality: Bisexual
Personality: Ada is a really optimistic and positive person, who enjoys science and nature, especially the ocean. She's happiest when she's swimming, though dissecting things is a close second. Ada loves to figure out how things work, and is hardly ever shaken up by anything. Alas, she tends to be a little headstrong and refuses to listen to other people when she is set on something. Ada can be quite oblivious to the distress of others sometimes, and sounds quite deadpan when she speaks
Likes: swimming, painting, singing.
Dislikes: Lies, technology (she's distrustful of it), sweet foods
Backstory: Ada was born in the sea off Ireland, where she grew up carefree. When she was 13, her older sister's sealskin was stolen. Ada was devastated, so she tried to steal it back for her, instead finding that her sister was not in any danger, but had concocted that excuse so she could marry a human man, which was not well looked upon in the Selkie community. Knowing this, Ada began to visit her sister above water more and more often, each time learning more and more about humans. When she was 20, after completing her selkie education, she left home to go to human college. Four years later, she exited with a teaching degree in biology. Ada is new to Dual Hearts, this year.

Age: 17
Gender: Agender, uses ve/ver/vis/verself
Species: Glashtyn, a sea-dwelling Manx human-horse shapeshifter. Ve shapeshifts into a black horse, as per vis race, and can breathe under water. Unfortunately, no matter how hard ve tries to shapeshift back into a human, ve will always have horse ears instead of human ones.
Sexuality: Pansexual
Personality: Being with Quinn is like like being in the presence of the sun. Ve's joy for life is sure to blind you (and maybe rub off on you). Quinn's natural state is love, and ve does ver best to convey that with frequent compliments and hugs for all (unless you don't like hugs. Quinn respects your space). Ve will do ver best to make sure everyone feels happy and welcome at Dual Hearts.
For all of Quinn's natural kindness, ve is inconstant and flighty, ver moods changing with the tides. Sometimes ve is even too nice ( I know, what a great flaw lmao), and refuses to tell the truth if ve thinks it has even a minuscule chance of hurting someone's feelings. Quinn will encourage you, but go somewhere else for the truth. Ve's easily hurt by the comments of others and has a hard time taking even well-meaning and tempered criticism.
Quinn's natural mode of conversation is flirting; so natural is it that ve sometimes doesn't even know ve's doing it.
Likes: (Marine) Biology, Maps, horses, warm island-y vacations
Dislikes: Cold weather and ice, Bears (very scary), spicy food
Backstory: Quinn was born in the sea between the Isle of Mann and Ireland to a pair of Glashtyns. ve had a happy family life for about a week, untill ver father went off and had an affair with a human. Ver mother immediately disowned her husband a ran off with Quinn, who not even met ver father since that week. Quinn's mother is a hardworker, but they fell on hard times so when ve got accepted to Dual Hearts, she was happy to send Quinn off to such an excellent school.
