((Ash and Resin found Pipaluk. Pipa mentioned that the pack was in danger. Ash is running after Drago. Resin is running after Ash. Drago just killed a straggler and is meeting with Grimshaw. Ahote, Attican and Xani are watching the pack. Mirage learned a bit of responsibility. Xani invited Sephora to go hunting with her, but Xani smelled ice bears and came back. There's a new wolf that Xani found and she's asleep by Ahote. Curse and Drago's son is now in the mix as well.))

The Unpredictable Loner

┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┛

Holly was rather thankful for Ahote braking the short silence between them, as the young fae was far too shy to do so herself. Looking directly into Ahote's eyes, ears slanted forwards, so she didn't any ruder than she already had been, Holly took a calming breathe before answering. "Holly... Sir. My name is Holly." her voice was considerably weaker than usual due to exhaustion and lack of food, so it was rather quiet and slightly raspy. Much to Holly's annoyance.
The white fae was rather surprised by the softness of Ahote's voice, but then again males weren't always rough and grouchy, and it made it all that much easier to respond to him. She silently cursed herself for falling so easily for males, maybe it was because of her age?
"I can't really remember when I found myself alone, so I guess it has been a while." she sighed, voice thick with exhaustion, sadness and some other emotion Holly was no used to; protection.

Drago studies the brute as he comes close, he's watching him for weakness, his mind isn't buzzing at the moment, he can still taste the blood of the fae he'd killed on his tongue, the angry bees in his head are sated for the moment. As he reads the brutes body language he can see how weak the male is, one who picks on pups is always weak. Though Curse had said the same to him when he'd killed their pups, but they'd been sickly weak, they would not of survived. His visions told him as much, he would not see his own children die the way he remembered his original family dying. No he would let no wolf die at the hands of that monster, that left wolves coughing up blood and trying to rip each other to pieces, eating those who have died. He shakes hard and rises to his feet.

"Come closer," He speaks softly so his voice does not Echo. "So we can speak and plan my friend," he bares his fangs at the word friend, Drago the Darkone has no friends, he has those he kills, and his son. Though he's not certain he would not kill Kuolema now that he's been betrayed. He rises to all four of his blood splashed paws and walks towards the other brute, his size is practically dwarfing to this brute. "now tell me...." He growls out. "Why would you betray a pack that is protecting you?" He stands his head pointed in the direction of the pack, the brute would never see it coming when it did as he waited for an answer.

((I have to wait a bit for Ash and Resin. Don't want to rush things. Also, inner madness is fine. We have more than enough extra's to kill some off. There are more than 20 wolves in the pack at the moment.))

Pipaluk-Female Straggler-97 Summers

Slowly, the spindle-legged wolf picked her way across the land. Chewing her gums was getting old and she daydreamed about chewing a warm slab of fat instead. She must have been making yummy noises, for soon after, Nanuq told her to be quiet. "I'm embarrassing myself? Why would I be doing that? There's no one around but you and me."
She had stopped and scanned the area around her, blinking in surprise. "And all of these other wolves." Apparently her auto pilot had taken over. Pipaluk stood in the center of the sleeping pack, staring up at the ice wall. Whereas Resin and Ash had to run an arc to catch up with the bloody brute, Pipa had walked a straight shot, arriving well before them.
"There's quite a few more of them than I would have imagined. Seems like the madness didn't touch this lot yet." Pipa moved silently through the sleeping, snow covered bodies, giving a sniff here and there. Some of them smelled familiar, though she was sure that she'd never met them before. Maybe she had met their parents or grandparents. Smells were passed on from one generation to the next, so that was a possibility.
Though she had been walking for a long while, sleep wouldn't come to her easily. Curiosity riddled her mind. Would her predictions be correct? She would have to wait for one or both of the siblings to return to find out. Depositing her self against the ice wall behind the wolves, she dug out a small bowl and curled up within it. She doubted anyone had even seen her. The old wolf was like a ghost at times.

Attican
73 - Brute - Keeper

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Attican kept his post at his best vigilant watch, his eyelids attempting to betray him in their ability to falter and flutter shut. He'd pry them back open again instantly, determined to keep awake and watch. During one of these 'spells' Pipaluk had somehow silently padded her way into the group, her aged paws working nearly like an apparition in their quietness. His back was facing the ice wall, turned inwards towards the group.

The brute didn't know how much of the night had already passed, the only telltale sign being the moon and its position in the sky. As it sat now it appeared that they'd only have 4 or so hours left of darkness at all before the sun rose again to mark the daytime. He sighed inwardly towards himself, shifting a pawpad in the snow to try to wake himself up more. It appeared that most of the Fighters had settled and laid down by now, their awakeness only proven by the occasional ear flick or turn of head.

Attican sighed again and stood up, the joints in his shoulder snapping as he did so from the stiffness of not moving for hours. Large mouth gaped in a huge yawn, shaking his pelt out. Just one round around the group would do some good, maybe he'd stay awake if his blood was flowing better. He took a step forwards towards the lip of the snow bank, crouching his rear end in an almost sitting position. One more step and he passes the precipice, "skiing" down the small hill on all fours. He jumped out of the position rather gracefully, back legs surging just enough energy to keep him from stumbling and rolling at the bottom. He set forwards, going around the left side first in a clockwise fashion. The Keeper nodded his head to the few wolves that also kept watch as he passed by, making sure that nothing seemed too amiss. So far all seemed well.

Steamy tendrils curled around his nose every time he breathed out, the temperature well below the point of seeing your breath. His feet crunched in the snow, little holes marking every step he had taken. Soon enough the Elder was making his way back up the snowbank, his round complete. However something caught the corner of his eye, eyes and ears honing in on the object in question immediately.

Instinctually Attican's first reaction was to get defensive, but as he squinted in the light to get a better picture he realized the figure belonged to a very much older wolf, even older than he was by quite an amount. How long had she been there? He took a few curious paces forwards, noting that she was sound asleep (or was acting like it) due to a slight odd whistle her nose seems to create every time she exhaled. His neck stretched out, taking a few more paces still. His curiosity was peaked. Was this the wolf that had tried to contact them earlier? If so, where was Resin and Ash? He hadn't seen them on his walk around the pack. Stiffness wrapped around his heart in sudden worry that something had happened to the siblings with the intruder wolf, but something in his mind told them that for now the two were still alright. Forcefully the Keeper shoved those types of thoughts from his mind, bringing his attention back to the aged female in front of him. She looked tired and bedraggled from her journey, curled in tight in her snow bed. He craned his head backwards, noting that he still could see about 80% of the pack from this viewpoint. The Fighters surely could see the rest just in case something went amiss. Two more steps were taken before Attican laid his own body in the snow, acting almost like an awaken bodyguard to the unknown Elder as she rested. Even in his rank as Keeper and as an Elder too, the brute would always pay respects to those above him.

Pipaluk- Female Straggler- 97 Summers

One old, cloudy eye cracked and both ears flicked forward. "Don't worry, Nanuq. He means no harm," she spoke, barely above a whisper. The open eye locked upon the large male that had come to lay near her. Lightly, she pulled air into her nostrils, scenting the brute for any familiarity. "Ahh," she whispered again. "We know this one."
Many summers ago, when Pipaluk still had a spring in her step, a meeting of the clans was called. As Keeper of the Past for the TangleTails, she sat at her Alpha's side. The meeting had taken place in the ScarPaw lands. Pipa never forgot a scent. This pup had been there. He hadn't been a pup then and he wasn't one now, but in her mind, everyone was a pup since she didn't know anyone older than herself.
If she remembered correctly, this wolf had been a Keeper in training at that time. Pipaluk had been made a keeper very early in her life and so had met the Keepers and their successors from each pack. She had had a successor as well, but he was now as dead as the rest.
"Ahh," The old one nodded and pulled herself to a sitting position. "You remember him as well." Rising, she shook out her coat and staggered forward, seating herself beside the male. The pattern of his breathing let her know that he was still awake, but he was struggling with it.
"Those two being out their on their own troubles you." It was a statement rather than a question. She sat tall and stared out into the scattered trees before them. Although she didn't know how much she should tell the male, Pipaluk felt that she should at least attempt to get his mind off of things.
Clearing her throat, she spoke in a soft voice, her age crackling through it. "We have met before, you and I." She flicked her old frizzy tail around her paws. "Although I don't remember your face, I've never forgotten a scent in my life. I saw you at a clan meeting ages ago." Turning her head to the side, she nodded and mumbled something before turning back to Attican. "I was just reminded that I haven't introduced myself. My name is Pipaluk. Former Keeper of the Past for the TangleTail pack."
She turned her attention back to the spaces between the trees. "I can't promise you that both of them will return. In fact, I believe that one of them will not. I can say that their sacrifice will not be in vain." Shaking her head lightly, she shot the male a look out of the corner of one eye. "That wasn't very relieving, but times are troubling and there's little light in the dark."
Going silent, Pipaluk continued to sit tall, staring out into the dark.

River
4 summers; female grey wolf pup

Sleeping

Grimshaw
27 year old Male Loner Wolf

Grimshaw flicked his ear slightly at the loner's words but eventually made his way towards him. Meeting the loner half way Grimshaw stood in front of him and was amazed at how small he was compared to himself. "now tell me...." ........ "Why would you betray a pack that is protecting you?" hearing his words Grimshaw bowed his head and sat down watching him carefully "They aren't my pack, I'm loner .... There are a few loners traveling with the pack, The Alpha allowed loners to travel with them towards South" flicking one ear back Grimshaw looked closely at the loner "I'm only traveling with them for awhile, I'll be leaving them soon" sniffing the air he looked closely at at the loner "So what's the plan?"

Attican
73 - Brute - Keeper

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Attican had been laying for only a short while when Pipaluk had nearly silently approached him. She had fooled him, he thought she had been sleeping where in fact she was actually only having her eyes closed. His head turned around swiftly when she had all but gotten within touchings-length of him, her aged paws still working their apparent magic on keeping absolutely silent. He was just about to ask on "who" exactly remembered "who" well when the female already changed directions in her speaking.

"Those two being out their on their own troubles you."

The Keeper's eyes widened, going up and down the spindly wolf in contemplation. It was rather strange to be honest, taken upfront to his thoughts. For him he was usually the one giving knowledge like this.. not receiving it. He listened to her gentle rasping voice, taking in the information. It was very strange, very strange indeed to hear recollections about him, him, in his youth. No one remembered that, no one was old enough or around anymore to ever remember anything of the sort like that... but yet here sat this wolfess before him with even more recollections than his own. To be honest it was puzzling.

"My name is Attican." He eventually spoke after her own introduction, bowing his head down as if he was talking to the Alpha in a meeting. He did not know her exact age, but he'd guesstimate for her to at least be in her early 90's. Perhaps even more. TangleTail. The name brought distant memories, like as if those recollections had been places uptop a dusty shelf and forgotten about for years until just now re-found. TangleTail, TangleTail.... His face brightened, realization dawning upon his face.

That time in his life had been a whirlwind for Attican. He was still a Fighter, but had been appointed to be the next upcoming Keeper to success the previous one when the time would come. After the decision had been made, the brute had been whisked this way and that, all of a sudden becoming a part of meetings and clans, and of course, much learning of the pack's history in order to prepare him for his someday position. There was a lot to take in and it took most all of his efforts to grasp onto the vastness of it all. TangleTail had just been another meeting he had been to during this learning period. Now, Attican's brain wracked with memories, trying to filter them to that day. Fuzzy faces of wolves floated in his head as he tried to put Pipaluk's statement to a previous face. However, due to the time being past and the fact that both the wolves had aged so much since then, he was unsuccessful with a matchup. He still remembered the day though. "W-Wow.." Was all that he managed to say, before once again the old wolf had changed back the subject yet again.

She spoke of the leading siblings again, causing one of the Keeper's ears to droop unknowingly. In every bit of honesty he loved the two of them, both Ash and Resin had a place in the brute's heart. He'd watched the two grow, and even despite his mental incapabilies sometimes, Attican knew that Ash tried being the best that he could for what he had. He was proud of them both. The air around the two Elders fell silent for a while, both appearing to have fallen into their thoughts. If only the fates could be bargained with. Tf he could he would trade the rest of his life for even a spare day for the both of them. Actually if push came to shove Attican would be willing to do this for pretty much anyone in the pack.

He gently sniffed, the air around him giving no sorts of indication of anything. Scentless and without information. He sighed, craning his head back to Pipa who appeared to be staring out between the trees. "It is a child's thought to wish for everything to come out cleanly... Oh, but what a hope it still is, isn't it? The thought of everything ending right." He blinked, sighing an even deeper, much heavier sigh. "I worry too hard and perhaps care too much Pipaluk."
