➳ Adelaide applied pressure to the wound and forced her arm to go rigid, hoping that would help some until she could get back to her hovel and get some cloth strips. As she heard the delayed response of the attack from Kai, she honed in on it, as it was muttered rather softly, and she rolled her eyes. She'd bared witness to many skeptical occurrences before, but she had to admit that this was something... different. But this guard stating the obvious of the situation wasn't going to help anything.
Addie, getting to her feet fully once more, watched as the assassin strode up to her from across the expanse of dirt, his hands bound around the hilts of his double-melee blades. What angered her even more was the grin crawling up his lips. How arrogant. Not like she hadn't seen that in most men or fences that she had consulted or even stumbled upon before. But the fact that really made her jaw set was that he was actually amused by her actions. So what if once in a while you have a bad day? She had been caught before, but the usual people she was cornered by were either drunks who had seen her wanted posters, after the reward for her capture, or simple-minded guards who had way too much armor, slowing them down to the point where she could slip away.
The thief listened carefully to Kai's proposal, and actually found the common sense in his observations for once. She usually relied on instinct and hunches more so than forethought knowledge, which was a major flaw of hers, but it did seem tempting for her to not be arrested. "Stolen goods? I have no more on me," she replied, looking down to her belt. "Oh, wait." She pulled out a small velvet coin purse that she had snatched from a nearby tavern. Her hands went to unlatch the clasp at the top, and she held it up for him to see the few little morsels of food, including berries and maybe one gold coin inside. "If crackers are your idea of something justly to turn in, here," she chided with a sly smile, latching the bag back up and throwing it at his boots.
