Ella watched Alastair step towards the forest, calling out to his potential attackers but with his sword pointing downwards. There was no verbal response but three familiar faces (well.. two and a wolf) burst out. Two fireballs flew from Jen’s fingertips and Ella’s mouth parted in shock as Alastair merely caught them and looked disappointed as they fizzled away into sparks. So that was the ability she’d been looking out for this entire time. The Prince’s further response was simply a request not to fight, and as Quinn fired a shot that never reached him Ella realised their plan. They wanted to scare him?... Well, she could have told them that wouldn’t work. Everyone knew about Onetian’s abilities to suppress their emotions, and Alastair’s ability seemed stronger than most’s. Arys and Quinn seemed to realise this and began to speak calmly and logically, a sure-fire way to get on the Prince’s good side, but that soon all went to pot when Demetria flew out in dragon form. Ella should have been prepared but even she couldn’t help but jump as she felt the warm breath from the dragon roaring down at them. Alastair did not take to the surprise too kindly, angrily jumping up to defend her with his sword ready for action and triggering another bout of guilt in her. She was worried that the Phoenix squad had gone too far and rubbed her forehead in a stressed manner as they began to argue. “Look at them,” She stood, moving to stand behind the Prince and speaking over his shoulder in the hopes of dulling some of his anger. “They don’t know what they’re doing.” The contempt in her voice didn’t completely have to be feigned, the Phoenix squad seemed to have lost all ability to communicate with each other. Ella had been stuck in the Palace of Swords for what felt like an eternity, unknowingly working towards this moment and these kids were going to make all this be for nothing, and worse were endangering themselves in the process, just because they didn’t know how to talk to each other. She appreciated her friend, Cujo’s, attempt to make peace with the Prince but his role clearly hadn’t been discussed and it seemed foolish to give away the locations of the entire squad. Jen, with all her fire, practically screamed at him and Ella shook her head gently. Not the respectable image she’d prefer the rebels to portray.

Thankfully, Alastair seemed to realise that the sudden attack wasn’t a planned trick on him but merely confusion from a bunch of teens with the weight of being Delra’s potential saviours on their shoulders and Quinn and Arys began to pull it back. Ella understood Jen’s hesitation to trust the Prince, Ella cursed herself every time she allowed herself to be swayed by his chivalry and kindness, but she was glad that the Prince was being spared from any more violence today. Atlanta was a welcome face and Ella glanced around as other rebels began to emerge. There was one face in particular she was looking for and she had to supress a shock as panic as when she couldn’t spot it. Gently she reminded herself that another of her friends, Aisling, wasn’t here either and neither was Ardai, Caleb, many others but she couldn’t help but worry. Surely this whole event would have carried on a whole lot more smoothly if Lanette was around, and the young woman was so determined that Ella couldn’t imagine her not being present at the front-lines of this important mission. She was only stirred from her worry at the realisation that Alastair had now agreed to be blindfolded and led back to rebel headquarters and that he was prioritising a single request of her safety. Before today this wasn’t how she expected this interaction to go but now… she wasn’t so surprised.

Brenn watched as the alpha team burst in and readied to turn Gavotte’s water into ice only for his eyes to widen at the water-bender’s alarmed expression as his ability failed as it reached the Prince. When he reached out with his own power he found that he could only slightly frost the outskirts of the puddle before the extent of his ability just seemed to drop off into nothingness. Jen’s fireball had also dwindled out upon contact with the Prince. The rest of the ‘fight’ seemed to be chaos, and most of the fighting appeared to be between themselves. Gavotte looked nervous when the communicator buzzed through the commander, informing them all to come out of their hiding places and Brenn didn’t feel so different. Every part of him that came from his mother was screaming not to trust the Delran Prince but he would listen to his teammates over that voice in his head. “If Atlanta thinks it’s okay then it must be. She knows what she’s doing.”
He began to stand warily from his position behind the bushes, “We’re at the advantage here, even if he’s not trustworthy there’s too many of us for him to try anything if we come out of hiding.”

Quinn watched as the prince slowly knelt to the ground, the careful way they set their weapon down spoke to how well the prince cared for their weapon. It also showed that they didn't want to startle the already on edge rebels something he was grateful for. From what he could tell it seemed that the Prince at least wanted some sort of peace, sure it could be a ruse or even an attempt to delay them but for now he would rather give them the benefit of the doubt. After all they far out numbered the prince and whatever happened he was pretty sure that they would be able to take it head on. He was pulled from his thoughts when the Prince requested ideas, it wasn't something that had really crossed Quinn's mind. A lack of foresight on his part, he had assumed that they would end up having to fight the prince instead of coming to a somewhat peaceful solution. That meant that their original plan of bustling him off to HQ in handcuffs wasn't the plan anymore and he wasn't sure what to make of that. Casting a glance Arys he tried to convey to his ally that he wasn't sure what to do. However before he could properly convey that a voice spoke up and he turned to catch sight of the commander stepping out of the forest and into the clearing. That sight brought a lightness to his chest, he could trust their commander's decisions and if she was here he didn't have to worry as much. His expression that had been carefully schooled into one of calmness lightened and his trademark smirk found it's way back onto his lips. The moment their commander introduced herself he realized he hadn't introduced himself, though it was much to late now to say anything. It was unfortunate, he should have said his name earlier.

His attention was monetarily pulled away from what was going on in front of him when he saw movement out of the corner of his eye, it seemed that Robin had started to come down the tree. That alone wasn't what drew his attention, it was the fact that she had paused and used her communicator. It was then he noticed that not everyone had come out of the wood works yet Gavotte and Brenn and Rose were still missing from what he could tell. Glancing back over at the group in front of him he wondered if he was really useful over here. He had felt the glare that Demetria had given him, clearly she hadn't agreed with the way he had spoken but he hadn't known any other way to get their attention without majorly pissing the two off. It was this assumption that he figured his own presence wasn't really needed. Now that the commander was here Arys had the backup she needed and from a much better rebel than himself. With that he knelt down to grab his bow, not to pick it up and use but instead to place near his arrows. If on the off chance he needed to use them it would be easier to pull them to him if they were close to one another. Once he was finished arranging his weapons he straightened and glanced over at Arys. "It looks like you and Atlanta have it from here so I am going to go hang by the edge of the clearing so that nobody sneaks up on us" he said logically. He offered their resident werewolf an encouraging grin before turning and sweeping past both Demetrai and Jennifer without casting a glance at either girl. He figured it was better to avoid eye contact with them, there was still that fear that if he looked over at either that he would somehow piss them off. Which wasn't the effect he was going for, peace is what he wanted. Moving swiftly to the edge of the forest he peered into the dark underbrush before stationing himself in a spot where he would be able to see almost anyone who was approaching from the darkness.

After he had glanced around for a moment he heard the Prince's voice once more and he cast a glance back to see in slight surprise that they were on their knees. He wasn't sure when the Prince had gotten into the position but he assumed it was something to do with that he was saying. He had heard them say something about being blindfolded so he assumed they had gotten into that position to show that they were peaceful, after all they towered above quite a few of his fellow rebels. His brow's jumped at the request that the prince made, to make sure that the princess or Ella was unharmed. It was a request that he hadn't seen coming but he was grateful that it had been made. He had spent all this time trying to avoid mentioning the princess due to the fear that the truth would come out and that the Prince would retaliate and harm their fellow rebel. A rebel by the way that was close friends with his own friend Aisling. He would hate to have break both Aisling's heart and Lanette's if their friend got injured. With a swift shake of his head he cast that thought aside. After all it wouldn't be good to dwell on something that wasn't going to happen. As he watched Cujo seemed to take the lead and pulled out some gauze, he prayed they wouldn't need any of that any time soon. His gaze followed their resident medic's hands as they slowly wrapped the gauze around the prince's eyes. He wonder if perhaps they were going to try and use their ability to look into the princes weaknesses. With that thought he turned his attention back to the forest ahead of him. It wouldn't do for them to get attacked now and him being the watch to have not noticed due to being distracted.

Robin had responded, but Gavotte's mouth felt parched. A small drawback of being a waterbender meant this normally-mild symptom of anxiety was amplified in him. He had to take a moment before whispering back his reply. "I was just worried... Hang on a second, we're coming out."
He stood up along with Brenn. The ice-wielder made some good points, reassuring him with actual logic. Gavotte felt a little better to be heading into the open, as suspicious as this whole situation was. His main objection was that Commander Atlanta did not seem to know what she was doing, but that would be rude to say out loud.
"You're right..." Gavotte murmured, praying his worry was for nothing. He stepped out of the thicket and faced the river, raising his hands in concentration. The waters rose above the banks but didn't flood, rather floated up and formed a rushing arch of water. With cautious steps, Gav walked forward and ducked under the 'bridge', gesturing for Brenn to follow. It seemed the others were about to leave.

The Phoenix Squad was settling down. People were coming out of hiding, and Quinn was covering their backs at the clearing's edge. Atlanta gave him a nod of approval before returning her attention to the Prince.
"Thank you, Prince Alastair." Atlanta was relieved at their target's cooperation, but this mission was not over yet. They still needed to transport him back to Headquarters without being arrested. Plus, the possibility remained that his compliance was only a ruse. The commander decided she would walk beside Alastair and ensure things went smoothly.

"Good thinking, Cujo," Stepping forward, she gave the medic an appreciative smile once he finished the makeshift blindfold. Atlanta helped the Prince to his feet before paging everyone with her communicator.
"Phoenix Squad, we have the Prince." She made it official. "We are leaving now. Good work so far, and stay sharp."
This time, the commander would lead the way home. The Phoenix Squad had already proven themselves capable of navigation on the way here. More importantly, she didn't want any more fights breaking out. Gesturing to those already in the clearing, Atlanta began to walk with Alastair in tow, heading in the direction they came from.

Prince of Delra

The Prince was silently compliant as his captors blinded him with medical gauze. It was safer than the alternative, moreso for the young rebels than for himself. The Royal Guard were annoyingly abundant around this side of Oneta.
Alastair felt a tug of foreign magic from the rebel blindfolding him. Sensing no ill intentions, the Prince allowed it through, enabling the young lad to examine his state of health. None of the marks on Alastair were visible at a glance, thanks to the conservative clothing style of Oneta. The hidden wounds underneath had mostly scarred over by now. His health was fine, besides a profound tiredness that seemed to weigh down his very soul.

It seemed the rebels' commander was taking charge of him now. Alastair graciously accepted her help, rising to his feet and following her along. She was thanking him, which he found ironic but not unwelcome. "I must thank you," He insisted, addressing both Lady Atlanta and her comrades. "Perhaps, another squad would not have been so kind. I am grateful we were able to resolve this without violence."
He was being led blindfolded through the woods now, another exercise in trust. The Prince supposed giving them more information would be best, evening the playing field a little. "Is there anything you wish to know? I may answer any questions you have, which I presume you have many." It was, in a way, an apology for how secretive he was.

Once everyone began to leave, Robin moved out from her spot as well, and moved over to walk by Gavotte. On her way over, though, she gave Arys a soft pat on the shoulder, as well as a small smile.
"Good job." Robin said, an obvious note of gratefulness in her soft tone. In Robin's opinion, Arys had done a great deal to turn the mission around for the better.
Still, though, Robin couldn't help but worry. There was most certainly something else at play here. There was no way that the Prince would willingly be taken by a group of rebels without a single fight. Robin could feel a sense of dread creeping up her spine, leaving a heavy cloud of doubt over her heart. She made her way next to Gavotte, giving the water bender a polite wave as she came to stand beside him.
"Are you doing okay? You sounded pretty worried." Robin asked softly, her expression slightly tense with a shared sense of anxiety.

A faint smile brightened the waterbender's face as Robin congratulated Arys. Gavotte sent an appreciative look in the werewolf's direction as well. Although the situation was still horribly suspicious, at least violence had been staved off for a while. Gav wasn't confident they could take Prince Alastair down otherwise. With their powers essentially useless, they were even worse off than other rebel squads with more experience...
Gav felt relieved when Robin approached him. Talking with his friend always made him feel better, even if it was about a worrying subject like this. He made sure to keep his voice low, even though they were near the back of the group and Alastair was up front with their commander. "Thank you, Robin. I'm just worried about this mission," He whispered, so quiet even she might have trouble hearing. "It seemed... too easy?"

It wasn't long before everything seemingly simmered down. Alastair willingly threw himself at their mercy, remaining terribly suspicious. There had to be something else at play here. She just had to figure it out before whatever it was actually took place The Prince pointed out that knocking him out was not the advised course of action. Even if he hadn't said that she knew they'd all resort to the more peaceful alternative, as Cujo was now wrapping medical gauze around Alastair creating a makeshift blindfold. Now that the battle was over she allowed her attention to be drawn away from the Prince and elsewhere. Drawn to a movement in the trees surrounding the clearing she made it out to just be Robin. Brenn and Gavotre finally emerged as well. Then Atlanta announced that it was time to head out and Jennifer instantaneously took position behind a blindfolded Alastair who was babbling on to their Commander. When he asked the squad if they had any questions, the blonde remained quiet. She had plenty of questions but knew full well they'd simply be a "no" - one she could not necessarily trust.

Demetria had returned back to her human form by now. Alastair had addressed how they could get him back to HQ - by blindfolding him or knocking him out. Cujo made the decision for the lot of them, one she agreed upon, and simply obstructed his view. She was just relieved that Jen and Cujo didn't get into it as it would have made this take a whole lot longer then it had to be. Following Atlanta some ways behind after she told them all that it was time to go, Dem decided to let someone approach her if they cared to speak. Alastair then asked if any of them had questions and she assumed this was his way of trying to create some sort of trust. Demetria wanted to ask why he came so easily but knew whatever answer he gave would not satisfy the distrust she held for him. "How do you feel about your... father? If you don't mind me asking." She inquired hesitantly, quickening her pace so she was now beside him.

The questions had begun, but alas, the first one inquired about a most unsavory topic. Alastair allowed himself to visibly flinch, a honest reaction he would otherwise have suppressed. When he spoke, his polite and diplomatic tone had darkened with a cold bitterness, not towards the young lass but rather...
"That tyrant is not my father," The Prince murmured, voice seething with resentment and long-suppressed pain. Perhaps the rebels would take this as a manipulative tactic. It would be an understandable misjudgement, but a misjudgement nevertheless. Although he was aware of his secretive reputation, these emotions were genuine.

Robin nodded in agreement, looking at the Prince with a nervous, wary expression.
"Yeah. Even if we were all hoping for a peaceful negotiation, I was still expecting some sort of skirmish. He doesn't know us, why would he trust use to have him being lead through a forest while being blindfolded?" Robin replied, her voice tense and soft. She deeply wanted to shift and hide in some tree hole, or just hide in general, but she wouldn't. She couldn't do that.
"I still don't think that bringing him straight to base is a good idea..." Robin added, wringing her fingers as she spoke. What if there was something Alistair planned to do once he got to the base? What if he was going to steal everyone's powers, or have guards capture everyone!? Robin could go on forever in her mind about everything that could go wrong, but that wouldn't do anything. She had to focus.

The brunette could tell she struck a nerve. A visible tremor, the way his voice turned cold, even the response. Either he was a remarkable actor or actually hated his father as much as they had. She didn’t push the topic further and instead said, ”I’m sorry I brought him up.” And it most certainly won’t happen again... The last thing she wanted was to piss him off again. Yes, he had been diplomatic and reasonable thus far, but how much longer would that last? She didn’t particularly care to find out.

The waterbender nodded, his anxiety growing with his friend's words. The lack of a fight, which comforted Gav earlier, now cast an even darker shadow over the Prince's motives. "You're right, the way he's acting makes no sense." Gavotte cast a pointed look in Alastair's direction. The Prince was acting like he hated his father, probably another trick.
"The original plan was to cuff him and bring him back to base, then throw him in our jail..." Gav furrowed his brows, thinking this over. "At least with the blindfold, he can't see where he's going, so it'll be harder to lead Royal Guard to us." He offered a weak smile, clearly doing a terrible job of sounding optimistic.
"Still, it's too suspicious. Maybe it'll be better once he's in cuffs and a jail cell, then he can't do anything. Onyx and Keelan still have the cuffs, right?" Maybe they could ask to put the handcuffs on Alastair. That would hopefully prevent him from accessing his sword, or any form of outside communication he found in Headquarters. If he did refuse to wear them, it would tip the others off that he was acting suspicious.

Atlanta kept her senses sharp, ready to retaliate at the first sign of a surprise attack. However, while a surprise did come, it was not an attack. Demetria asked about the Prince's father and was met with an oddly passionate response, one the commander wouldn't have expected from such a stoic Onetian.
Atlanta had to assume the worst, however. That Alastair was acting this way in an attempt to gain their trust. It was the safest thing to think for a commander on guard. She had already shown poor leadership in her failure to stop the chaotic disasters earlier - that subject, she would be discussing before the next mission began. The least she could do was keep them all safe. She made brief eye contact with Demetria, reassuring her sister she had her back.

The Prince exhaled a small sigh, his expression softening behind the gauze blindfold. When he spoke again, the resentment in his voice had defrosted, returning to the familiar cordial tone. "Please, do not be sorry. I understand... his tyranny has hurt you as well. It is I who should be apologizing."
Had they removed the blindfold, the rebels would have seen an intense determination in his green eyes. A sincerity, although they would never accept it at this stage. "On behalf of my family's atrocities, I am sorry."
