No, they are not mother and daughter.
At least not genetically. But Greymara cares for the young Calíira after she found her way back into the ocean.

For those who don't know the stories behind my Guardians of the Sea:
Greymara, the big mare, has always been a strange and spooky loner. Calíira, the foal, was washed ashore when she still was in her egg. But humans (aka Neri <3) helped her hatch and she finally was strong enough to find her way back into the ocean. Greymara found the orphaned foal and cared for her although she never thought to have an own family.
Oh, and she kind of hates it when Calíira calls her "mum".
