"A Story is Meant to be Told"

Kind hearted/Wise/procrastinator/Lazy/Air headed/Proud/whimsical
Aeolus is a one of a kind that's sure. He's very gentle to cubs and others of his clan; he is often known to be helpful and wise to many things due to his age. Though he can also be rather lofty; and rather what can be done tomorrow can wait till then attitude. He often finds himself drifting in and out of his and everyone elses reality, going on the fly and just going with the flow. Though there has been a few times were his fur was ruffled the wrong way. He can be vain and rather prideful in these few moments.

We should start this story just like any other well written tale, from my cub hood of course. Now what separated me from my kin is what I am and have always been unable to comprehend; speech. I am mute and have been since my birth. I had to speak merely by body languish when I was a mere cub. That was not easy with my kin as each was more boastful then the last, but in some means it gave me peace of mind. They would get into their conflicts and battles and would part ways; leaving me out of most of the conflicts. Of course I couldn't sit on the side lines forever just dreaming.

I became stronger, and bigger as my other siblings grew up around me and no longer were we mere cubs any longer but growing into the sabers that we were meant to be; growing up strong in a dangerous world but the peril seemed so far away to us even then. We saw the glimmering armors and we saw the boastful spirits of our clan when they had claimed victory against those darned Gryphons. We watched in admiration during tribal celebrations cast aside at the fire-pit; and the cheering and laughing commenced and cast shadows against the blackness of night.

That night I knew our lives would change and for some reason I wasn't sure how it would, but it was an.. Inkling you can say. Something pulled at my brothers and I's hearts and we wanted to dance, to sore with our elders. Though we didn't know how foolish the endeavor would be. Though it did not matter to us; we wanted that change so much. We wanted to change and now I wish I was still that cub, at that fire without those thoughts lingering in my head.

That night when the embers had smothered out and the rest of our kin had gone to sleep I could hear the others rustling; sleepless in the night; but we had tried to resume our slumber in spite of our restlessness. It was then we heard a distant screech. I popped my head up from my resting and turned slightly towards the noise; it seemed my siblings had heard the same but our gazes shifted to our elders which were sprawled around the fire site. None of them stirred. He huffed; his breath lingering on the wind as their hearts seemed to calm slightly and their eyes met. While the fire within the pit died, a new light within their eyes burned.

In silent agreement all rose together and drifted off into the forest wanting to prove themselves. Aeolus was no different than his siblings as they sauntered off into the misty night. The moon hugged over them and they felt the gentle embrace of the wind against their back; what could go wrong?

We heard that screech again; but this time much closer. The sound was ear piercing and I almost doubled over myself; jumping around in a circle to cut off being surprised. But how wrong I was. We were being watched; it was only matter of time now. My lips trembled but I forced my own fear down as I forced them back into a snarl; though no sound emitted from me. My brethren had taken up the same but with tone. I could hear their fierce growls and it reinforced my own vigor.

This time there was no cry or screech from a Gryphon but I felt something heavy plummet into my side and send me skyward. It was then I heard the battle cry from the winged beast. I tumbled as the world seemed to fall apart at the hems. I watched from the back of my own mind as dark energy bubbled across the land and fire slit tree's in two and wind cast aside those beasts. My own body moved unlike anything it had before; Dashing, dodging and swatting. But the world didn't stop tearing about around us. There we're fall too many and soon we're consumed in the heat of battle.

I could not see them; and I began to panic. They reacted to this and being veterans to this war also held more experience. Earth tumbled around me and something hard hit me with such force that the pain started at my own tooth and next all I could remember was the world becoming black and my world fading as I heard roars from the distance.... Or at least I thought they were. Our clan arrived but not in time for each of us. I was one of the lucky ones. I escaped with only one tooth broken; but that night I lost a lot more than just a chipped tooth.

I do not know how long I slept but I had a vision of myself; and I was in another form... a spiritual plane of existence if you will and I was soaring; there was a small little bird chirping next to me urging me to follow. I did so with gusto and following up up the river and towards the waterfalls and there sat a large feline spirit. Her form was wispy and formed from the air currents off the waterfall, her eyes almost as if stars. It was then I felt the presence of the wind; shift through my fur and throughout my being... Rushing through me like the waterfall; like she was empowering me.

Then I awoke... I awoke in the carnage of my own making that day. I met the gaze to some of our elders and they cast their gaze away... about 50 feet away I saw my brother but he was not moving and his body was twisted; he seemed cold. It then dawned to me; not all of us were coming home. That night I learned the true value of battle, and victories do not always proceed over defeat.

That was a night i would never forget. A broken fang from my first encounter with the gryphons, nor would it be the last. Time passed and I soon grew into a young vibrant adult saber. Vigor and youth flowed through me and I thought myself clever and witty. I might as well have been called a brat but I didn't see this. I tried to dazzle and impress members of the clan and of course the ladies.

Though I had also grown that hatred for those unnatural creatures,; Gryphons. I was not the strongest saber but I was light on my feet and I excelled in my element; wind. I was known to be able to 'dance' on my feet; and I did so with grace. I was young and naive, times of peace were over and I had taken up the role of a warrior. Though the scales have changed ever so much since our last encounter. I was still young but with practice and that was more than an adolescent cub seeking adventure and glory. I found that the battles seemed easier over time but the gryphons do provide a threat to our kind.

Even now sometimes my thoughts seem.. to Drift and I wonder what things could, and might have been. Had things been different. The things I've seen and the battles I've caused. To each their own and my own is of my own doing. The wind however whispers to me; and keeps to my back.
