where do they live?: Sachiel was once apart of a wandering merschool(tribe), they roamed the Mediterranean Sea, through the waterways spread about the countries surrounding it (Egypt-Nile, Israel-Sea of Galilee & Lake Hula, mostly). He enjoyed the Egyptian culture, and had watched the countries grow and change over the years. But it eventually came to a point, where humans did not appreciate the world under their noses, and became greedy, and thus the world he once knew disappeared, and he now lives as an circus attraction to the people who he once admired.

Name: Liriko
where do they live?: Liriko had quite a habit of following ships, and was well traveled when he found the flowered coast, though the flowers weren't what compelled him to say. he had been in the area a couple days when he decided to look for his next boat. As he's swam away from the coast he noticed someone sitting on the rocks. Her name was Calypso, a young octomaid. He stopped to talk to her for a while, and found her to be of interest. He also felt like she could use the company, as she recounted how many of the other mermaids made fun of her for her tail. Thus he decided to stay, for a least a little longer, to keep his new friends company.

where do they live?: This slightly shady hot tub

It was only temporary, that was what he told anyone who would listen. Which admittedly wasn't a lot of people given that he wasn't supposed to let anyone know that mermen existed. Let alone a merman that acted suspiciously like a teenage boy in the midst of his grunge phase stuck in a broken down jacuzzi somewhere in Florida. Still, he felt the need to defend himself to the skeptical-eyed seagulls that liked to roost in the dying tree. The one that made it's home in the six-by-six foot patch of dirt that was the backyard.

After all, it was only temporary. Until either Mary got a job that paid well enough to buy them a house with a tub instead of a shower, or she grew tired of having an overgrown koi as a boyfriend and sold him to an aquarium. He sincerely hoped for the former. They had both given up an awful lot to be together, but it wasn't like they had any other options. They were in love, and that was an indisputable, unshakable fact. And since she hadn't wanted to risk dying- though he had made it very clear that her chances of magically growing gills after drowning was at least over fifty percent thanks to true love magic Mary for some reason didn't buy it- he was forced to risk being found. Or being stabbed to death by rusty nail death-traps.

Soon though. Soon their luck and lives would change. Life would get better and they'd stay together.

It had to get better.

Otherwise he would be forced to do something very desperate.

where do they live?:

Liang Chu lives on the outer edges of an underwater city known as Fa'er.
Architecture:
-The city is quite large, and completely submerged. Though it was built above land, an earthquake caused it to sink below the waves, and water-dwellers eventually came to live in it.
-The buildings are styled after [Ming dynasty Chinese buildings], though many are crumbled and most have moss or other sea-life growing on the walls.
-The top few floors of the tallest building pokes out above the water, but is still considered to be water-dweller territory.
Government:
-Under rule of the mer-kingdom, but holds independent local government as well (like Hong Kong and China)
-It's rumored that the sister of the Sea Goddess lives in Fa'er
Education:
-Schooling for orphans and small families is payed for by local government.
-However, schooling is run by conservative groups who teach strictness in social interactions
Social interactions:
-Interactions with land-dwellers are discouraged, most people stay underwater entire life.
-Romantic/mating relationships are generally kept within sub-races. (ex: SharkmermaidxSharkmerman) Though there aren't any laws/rules/religious reasons for it.
-Families play a large roll in social structure. Unmarried mothers will often abandon children in hopes they will be adopted into a nuclear family.
Culture:
-Art is very important to Fa'er residents, particularly sculptures and mosaics.
The Inn:
-There is an unnamed Inn just outside the boarders of Fa'er. The inn is very liberal, inviting lovers of any kind, and hosting peace-treaty meetings to discuss political changes they wanted to see in the world.
-Although Liang isn't really opposed to the conservative social structure of Fa'er (I.E. He's attracted to female koi mermaids, dislikes land dwellers, and plans to marry and have kids someday,) He prefers the light-hearted atmosphere of the Inn.
