    Trying out for #323!

    Pokemon name: Hudson
    Pokemon typing: Rock
    pokemon pronouns: He/him It/its
    prompt:
Immense hooves met the brick path with soft thuds as the fusion made its way down the sidewalk of the small town it resides near. The townspeople made sure to steer clear of its path, casting sideways looks as the feral Pokémon walked among them. His thick coat soaking up the evening sun, it was a good day despite the unwelcome murmur of the folk in town. Hudson always seems to draw attention, typically it wasn’t kind attention. There’s been days that the townspeople have tried to chase him off with battles and threats, but they seem to have accepted that he wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon. On better days, he's had children run up to him with curious eyes wanting to pet his coat or play with him. He always spared time for the kinder folk, time that he did not have for anyone else.
But like everyday here, Hudson had someplace to be. After having crossed town, he’d made it to his destination. Massive paws pushed the little door open as he ducked inside. After having hit his head one to many times, Hudson learned the hard way that he was to tall not to duck into doorways. “Hudson!” A woman, who went by Evelyn, squealed with a smile, “You’re just in time.” Her smaller hand reached for his paw as she dragged him through the shop. He was careful not to knock anything over as it seems she forgets how big the Pokémon really is. She handed him a sheet of paper from the counter, shockingly detailed drawings of flowers were sprawled across the sheet. “I need as many as you can find, it’s an order that came in just before you got here,” Evelyn explained as she moved to grab a large canvas bag, proceeding to throw it over the head of the Pokémon who adjusted it so that it would sit comfortably on his side. “You can get these right?” She asked the fusion. Nodding confidently, Hudson began to leave the little flower shop, the bell on the door ringing as he made his exit.
He returned only a couple hours later, his bag filled with flowers that were very carefully picked. And sure enough, the customer was there awaiting his flowers. “Welcome back Hudson,” Evelyn greeted him and hastily retrieved the bag so she could go and arrange the order. The customer looked hesitantly at Hudson as the large Pokémon adjusted a little vase that sat on the counter, adding a flower he’d picked earlier in the day. “You work here?” The customer asked bluntly, Hudson met his eyes and nodded slowly. Before anything else was said, Evelyn reappeared with a beautiful bouquet in hand. The two exchanged and the customer left the shop happy with his flowers, he’d explained that it was for his wife and that she was going to love them. And with that, the shop was closed for the night and the Pokémon returned to his home.

Hudson may not be well loved among the townspeople, but he is loved and appreciated in his flower shop. <3

prompt:

Lassie, despite her intimidating exterior, is actually very sweet! When she came into her little town, people were frightened of her, but when a hungry and crazed Houndoom came barreling towards a shepherd's flock of Wooloo, she jumped into action and scared it off, winning over the villagers hearts and gaining the role of sheep dog! Since then, she's made friends with the village baker who makes her special treats, the village mariner, who takes her out on afternoon lake trips, and, of course, the village shepherd, whom she lives with and cares for.

Trying for #324!

Archive: Here! Cypress
Pokemon name: Cypress
Pokemon typing: Rock
pokemon pronouns: She/Her
prompt:
One isolated wooloo is easy to handle, but wooloo as a group? Terribly, terribly dangerous. They take the idiom of "if you saw your friend jump from a cliff, would you?" to the next level and the answer is always yes, yes they will. Wooloo closely follow the tail in front of them when they are in a group, even if individually, they are rather sound of mind and independent thinkers. Something innate about herds and the company of other wooloo could lead to wooloo cyclones where they endlessly follow the tail in front and lead to no where.

Cypress is tasked with being the lead sheep if something like this happens. She can intervene and safely lead the wooloo away from any buildings and roads, then disperse them to their own fields for grazing. It may seem strange or unglamorous, but it is undoubtedly important to prevent wooloo stampedes.

Pokemon name: Beiste (323)
Pokemon typing: Rock
pokemon pronouns: him/him
prompt:
Beiste was born into a herd that still follows the old ways; in ancient times, herds were formed in order to protect the many, and to do strict and since outdated rules were implemented. When threats of predation were more prevalent, herds and their structure were needed in order to confuse predators and defend young members. Roles and rules were strict and regimented, and extreme conformity was required in order to ensure the whole acted as one and to make individual members hard to identify, thus making picking off one member more difficult - especially when the herd was fleeing.

In recent time, Beiste's herd has become less archaic, or so it likes to think. They still follow mostly the same rules as they have for nearly a century, and are still led by a single Herd Mother, but are more friendly towards those outside of their herd. Not that the Herd Mother is likely to let them join - while friendships with other species of pokemon are permitted, members are still wary of pokemon who may have acted as predators in the past, and the herd is still almost entirely Wooloo and Dubwool.

Beiste is the only exception.

He isn't sure why, honestly. It's been decades since one of his herd's Herd Mothers chose to exile a pokemon, but he wouldn't have thought Leithe above it - not for him, at least.

Beiste is... disliked in the herd. His mother was eccentric and rowdy, things that are still looked down upon in their herd, and she passed away due to complications of Beiste's birth. This was enough to label him a foul omen, a label which was doubled in potency once his Lycanroc blood was revealed. These things earned him his namesake from Leithe: Beiste - beast in the old tongue.

From a young age, Beiste was a social pariah. Born with paws where hooves should have been and fangs he could not hide into a society that valued conformity above all else, he truthfully had no chance. Beiste could never be convinced of it though; even as a Rockloo, he did his best to fit in to the herd, only to be met with rejection time and time again. He was wrong - wrong fur, wrong type, wrong nose even. What didn't he understand?

Eventually, Leithe made him a night guard, watching over and protecting the herd from feral pokemon during the night. It was one of these nights that he evolved, having won a battle against a lone Houndoom that refused to back away. He hoped that it would make his herd finally see his value, but instead it caused their distaste to turn into fear. He's come to understand it by now - he truly is a fearsome beast, with tireless endurance and a headbutt that can pulverize bones, but only in defense of his family. However, they fail to see it that way, and after many failed attempts and harsh scoldings from Leithe, Beiste has given up. He loves his family more than anything, and if this is how he fits into their ranks, he'll accept it.

Though, he isn't entirely peerless.

There was a Wooloo born a few years ago, wild and courageous like no other. Within her first three seasons, the night guards caught her trying to sneak off or even join them multiple times. By her fourth season, Beiste would keep quiet when he was the one to find her, allowing her to join him on patrol so long as she let him take her back to the herd before sunrise. Named Freya and born to Leithe, the young Wooloo lives up to both her namesake and birthright with a fiery spirit, yet in doing so has made herself an outcast much like Beiste. Like outcasts so often do, Freya and Beiste grew close quickly after finding one another. To Beiste, Freya is one of the few who doesn't fear or scorn him, and to her Beiste is the only one who doesn't belittle her or her dreams. They have formed a sibling-like bond, and while Beiste knows that Freya will likely leave the herd once she matures, he still roots for her. She may leave him behind some day, but Beiste will always support her, and enduring the glares he receives from the rest of the herd during the day is worth it to listen to Freya enthuse about the rescuer's guild she'll form during the night.

Beiste may not fit in with the rest of his family, but neither does his little sister, and fitting in with each other is enough for them.

Pokemon name: Accalia (324)
Pokemon typing: Rock
pokemon pronouns: she/they
prompt:
Accalia's herd is rather backwards, that much she knows. She's interacted with outsiders enough to understand that the scorn they give her is unusual, rooted in prejudice and fear. Not that she would expect anything different of them.

Though the time of such things has long passed, her herd has an extreme prejudice against pokemon that would have acted as predators in the past. This, combined with the fact that her mother passed away shortly after Accalia was born, stole any chance of Accalia having a normal life in her herd. From a young age, Accalia was told that she was both dangerous and a curse, and forbidden from playing from the young Wooloo her age. Eventually, she was made into a guard - most likely just to keep her away from the rest of the herd, if Accalia had to guess. But it was as a guard that she flourished: Accalia was made for running and fighting as it would turn out, long legs, with spikes that could cut through anything, and wool that could reflect any attack. She had the mind for it too, always analyzing, always pinpointing weaknesses. Though she doubts she was given the role to try to benefit her, Accalia discovered that she loved to fight, eventually evolving while saving a brash young Wooloo and becoming even more suited for it.

Since then, Accalia's position in the herd has become somewhat elevated. The Wooloo she saved was none other than the Herd Mother's daughter, and the fact that Accalia evolved while saving her was taken as a good omen. Some of her herdmates still fear or dislike her, but there is a respect there that wasn't there before. Accalia is seen as their hero, their tireless guardian.

Frankly, she could care less.

She never fit in with her herd. The fact that they almost like her now doesn't change it.

For months now, she has been talking to a pack of various wolf and dog pokemon. They meet at night, when no other guards are posted (for Accalia could certainly defend them all), and talk until dawn most days. They have extended an offer to join their pack many times, but Accalia has turned them down up until now. Still, the wild of the night calls to her, and the next time it comes asking for her she plans to accept. For so long, she has been a wolf in sheep's clothing. Why not leave behind those who try so hard to make her what she's not? Why limit herself?

Perhaps these pokemon only want her for her strength too. But at least joining them will have been a choice. At least they might see her as a peer, and not a beastly guardian or a loathsome omen.

Pokemon name: Feldspar
Pokemon typing: Rock
pokemon pronouns: he/they
prompt: [352 words]

Feldspar does not approve of the guild, and they decidedly do not approve of him.

A wild pokemon living in and around the grounds of what has become an increasingly established guild... he is a thorn in their side, what with his untamed ways and penchant for mischief. Disrupting shipments, shadowing and following their patrols, seemingly for the fun of freaking them out- Feldspar has caused no small amount of trouble, and it is easy to see why the mention of him brings a frown to the guild leaders' faces.

For his part, Feldspar dislikes the rigidity of the life they offer- for certainly, the guild has tried to recruit him on more than one occasion. He refused, of course, scoffing that he liked his freedom, thank you very much. Why should he submit himself to a guild, when he's perfectly happy living free as he is? They'd turn him into an errand runner, maybe even saddle him with a partner. Now, isn't that a funny thought. He's a bit curious, sometimes, and follows the odd pairings they send out on missions to see what exactly they get up to. Weird little pokemon, most of them- though diligent in their tasks, and oh so fun to startle by sneaking through the woods and howling at night. He's got to get amusement somehow, hasn't he?

Despite these differences in lifestyle and outlook, though- there have been reports that have come in, of a lone lycanroc aiding travelers when they least expect it- herding them out of the way of rockslides, leading them in the direction of guild patrols so that they might be found. Though Feldspar enjoys playing tricks on the patrols he sees, he would never cause them direct harm, or sit by when they're in danger. He helps out, in his own rough and tumble way, to keep the area safe- so though he and the guild he lives nearby may not see eye to eye, there is a sort of begrudging respect between them. Feldspar will never join them, but he acknowledges the good they do for the surrounding area.

Pokemon name: Wisteria
Pokemon typing: Rock
pokemon pronouns: She/Her
prompt:
For #323
The people were baffled when this Fusion appeared on the scene, literally a wolf in sheep's clothing. She appeared one day out of nowhere, almost as if she had simply popped up out of the ground like a plant of some sort. It wasn't until she began dominating in the local contest scene that people actually started taking her seriously. Now Wisteria is a local household name, even those that aren't interested in contests know her name. She may not be a national nor international champion, but the people seem eager to watch her perform. People treat her differently, almost as if she were human herself, bidding her good morning and waving hello when they see her out and about. It used to be so incredibly confusing back when it first started happening, poor Wisteria didn't know what to think! But with time? The odd behaviour became the new norm and she greets them back with either a bark or wave of a paw.

Outside of her home town, virtually nobody knows of her and that's perfectly acceptable, she's not looking to be famous beyond her town's limits at this point in time. Perhaps in the future, she may venture beyond the town, meet new people and challenge new heights in the contest scene. But for now, Wisteria is content right where she is. With people, pokemon, and sights she knows like the back of her paw.
Unless I post somewhere, I'm not selling/trading closed species critters.

quirky [944435] for #324: Midday Form Lycanroc X Dubwool

Chaotic_Affection [926010] for #323: Midnight Form Lycanroc X Dubwool

I love the idea of a Lycanroc coming in and changing the village's opinions about them, becoming a Sheppard dog! And the little details about how the townsfolk treat her after the attack! I hope you enjoy!

Adored the imagery as Hudson walked into town and the storytelling! "Big and scary" pokemon works at a little flower shop?? I love that! As well as the cute artwork! <3 Enjoy!

RU for EchoIre [798835]!

I liked all the detail and the story connected to both entries! As a runner up, coolrat will be coming out with a Rockruff x Wooloo that hopefully can be integrated into your story and evolve into a pokemon that works with the story for your herd <3
